Hi, you need to explain at begin of exercise if it's a *""mix fraction"* or a *"multiplication"* I thought it's was ~> 999×998/999×999 = only to *998×999* and this is = to *"997002"* 💪! But if i do it as you in video with a SUM, then i will to do it with a faster method: instead to do it direct 999 + 998/999 × 999, (so for a moment i consider only the fraction 998/999 and i aggregate +1 to 998 ok? ~> so i will have this fraction [998+1]/999 = 999/999= "1"). In this case i will continue the exercise in this way: {999+1}×999= "999'000" ok? But to have the "real" result I need *to subtract* the FAMOUS "+1" (that i sum before to 998) to 999'000 and the correct result will be ~> 999'000 - 1 = *"998'999"* 😊🤙 You understand what I meant?🙆♂️

Why on earth are you bothering with such lengthy large-digit numbers when you could've saved time and effort by starting with (a+1) and (a-1)? The solution should have been more concise and practical. 😉
@@mrnibba4565 You are correct. It's mixed fraction notation to be precise. But this notation is almost never used outside of elementary school and "a b/c" would be almost universally interpreted as "a*b/c". Without explicit statement about mixed fractions used notation is very ambiguous and misleading. So "mistook" is not a correct word in this situation, "not interpreted as elementary student would" fits much better.
You're wrong 998 devided by 999 = 0,9989 and then you add 999 to 0,9989 and you'd get 999,998 999,998 × 999 = 998.999.. she's right. Remember that 3 1/2 is 3,5 not 1,5 ...
@@robertszilva1304It's different... 3 1/2 = 3,5 = 35/10 and then divided by 5 each number and you get 7/2 = 3 1/2 If 3 1/2 is 1,5 = 15/10 = 3/2 = 1 1/2 ???
@@dwis5489 The solution offered by LKLogic is itself correct. However, as evidenced by the high proportion of people who are baffled and/or claim that it is wrong, the way the equation is written leaves too much room for interpretation, especially for those who attempt to solve it just from the thumbnail. It's not at all obvious that "999 998/999" should be read as a mixed fraction; this is what (needlessly) trips people up: many read it as "999 x 998/999" (leading to @robertszilva's final answer of 997002) instead of "(999 + 998/999)", leading to the video's solution. I cannot blame those people. Personally, I had to play the first 15 seconds of the video (until she mentions "mixed numbers") to make sure of what was being asked.

Got to remember, if there isn't a parenthesis next to the fraction it's not a multiplication. Just like writing out one and one half looks like 1 1/2
There's much simpler way to solve the problem. You can do it in your head

it's much easier to start by rewriting the problem as (1000 - (1/999))*999; then 999000 - (999/999), then 999000 - 1, then 998999

Huh? Its all multiplication. Just cors out the first 2 999, and whats left is 998*999, and thats easy to calculate on paper.
