For close to 3 years I worked in the South tower…it’s hard to explain to anyone what an amazing experience it was to work in that building. They were marvelous …I was lucky to see sunrises n sunsets and see the most beautiful city in the world get lit up at night. When we say never forget, it’s not a catchy phrase; it’s a deep feeling of respect for what it once was…for all the innocent souls who perished and for two beautiful landmarks that represented beauty n strength. Forever in my heart 🗽🌃🌆thank you for this video…it took me back to a simpler, safer time 🙏🏼
Thank you Lucy. I agree that it must have been an amazing experience to work in these incredible buildings each day for nearly 3 years, and painful beyond words to witness what eventually happened - with such intimate personal memories still fresh in your mind. In 2019 I visited for the first time in 20 years, and was able to pay my respects to those poor souls that perished that terrible day. Kindest regards to you and your family.
@@michaelrunnicles7196 Thank you for your kind words...going back to the memorial is always painful...there's something in the air and too many memories. Once again, thank you for the video and your kindness. All the best to you and your loved ones.
I was working on 85th floor (was hit by plane) in the South tower back in 1996 for next 2 years. The Twin Towers were the real American Dream themselves, and yep, you just needed to enter this building to instantly get hyped. This is the only thing I can name, when somebody talks 'bout New York. Without the first WTC it isn't the same city. I was a 23 year old man, came from northern Ontario, and seeing the NYC at night was the best thing I had to watch in my entire life. Only the fact, that I'm here was electrifying. Got laid off in Feb. 1998, almost 3 years before attacks. But experience of being a part of thing like that was insane... This was my prime of life. Really glad to have such a things to tell.
@@donaldavery9448 Well I'm Dutch, I live in The Netherlands, so it's none of my business, but my thought is that they should have built these Twin Towers right back, and maybe even a fraction bigger. And that would also give a great message saying Nobody can defeat us.
This makes me sad. As a New Yorker wildly proud of our twin towers I sometimes forget there are adults right now that weren't alive, or were babies when these monuments were destroyed 😞
I was born in 1980. Believe me, the 90s were great. We had Internet but we weren't addicted to social media. We had cell phones but we use them just to talk. TV was great, Mtv played good videos, and popular music was awesome. Movies were awesome too. We had Blockbusters and we bought music in record shops. People wasn't so highly sensitive back then. Also, we had an optimism about the upcoming new century that now looks naive.
I don't no if it's the blue skies. Mellow atmosphere or that we were new to advancing tech but the 90s had a different dreamy laid back feeling than today's modern dark world
And with music fad of the late '90s changing its course but I think that around 2003 2004 when things started to feel or sense "differently " than with pop culture changing with the times and the now new and "improved" hate culture and eventually the troll and savage culture where everything is lit and or savage bahahahaha what's gonna be the next fad we call and say things are idk what's past savage
The political landscape and culture have a big influence on entertainment and the arts... keep in mind that for all intents and purposes, we won the Cold War... we found ourselves alone at the top of the world... the 90s at least here reflected that feeling
The 90s feeling died in 2001. It went dark for obvious reasons, but i think the upcoming 20s is gonna be another great decade. Edit, April 28, 2020: nvm.
Its something about these old 90s/2000s private videos. That vibe and how the world looked through the lense. Even though every era and time had its problems but this world, this time looks so easy and wonderful to live in.
The world was terrorized by the idea of a nuclear holocaust throughout the 60's, 70's and 80's, but the cold war temporarily ended in 91. That was a period of economic downturn, but by around 96 there was a bried period without war or economic horror (for America) and the defining story of America was that the President got blown by an intern. So this specific video is from a period that was simpler and quite wonderful for America, but it was a very short window of time
I went up the Twin Towers in 1998 as I was in NY unexpectedly for one day. I was walking around Midtown a bit lost and turned into Lexington East Harlem and things started to feel creepy and threatening, I realised I should not have been here so turned around and left. Oh how things must be so much more these days, not a long time back but yeah things were so much better.
This 5 min is hypnotic. The perennial Towers, the relaxed smiling faces, every frame radiates American optimism. The nostalgia is intoxicating living in the post 9/11 NYC Coronavirus graveyard.
@@truthhearer6323 And there's the comment that makes everything about race. What's that even supposed to mean, tell that to the Indians and blacks? Is optimism a bad thing? What do you think American optimism even means? Do you think that if every person of color looked at america in a negative way that would help anything? You sound dumb when you make broad pointless claims out of thin air. America was a fine place in the 90s, people were excited to move into the 2000s after soooo much was accomplished in the 1900s, such as the CIVIL RIGHTS MOVEMENT. Get your head out of your ass and find something meaningful to complain about!
@@truthhearer6323 Nope you deleted it buddy, how am I supposed to read it if I wake up to a paragraph long notification on my phone, click it, and it's gone? Why would it even be gone? Not confident enough in the bullshit you typed out?
Yes brother And when i think about it a vivid image comes into mind that cannot be explained in words. An image must come up for you and everyone else that thinks about that, but no one will have the exact same image You also get a vibe and a memory when thinking of things like this, what you do in life, what you saw when you were young, the people around and so much more create these vibes images and memories that triggered by somethings. Its hard to explain
It makes me so, so sad knowing all the people that died during 9/11 were off doing normal things and living life when this video was filmed, not knowing the horrible fate to come to them and America. Some of people working there not knowing in two years time that would be where they die :(
I am Brazilian, when that fatality happened I had recently turned fifteen. I always saw the Twin Towers in the movies and in the clip of the late Tina Turner and said, 'When I'm an adult I'm going to live in the U.S. and take a lot of pictures in the Twin Towers.' Unfortunately, ninety days after my fifteenth birthday, my dream ended up on the ground, with a lot of debris and twisted irons. I don't know if I've commented on this video before, but it doesn't matter. To this day I feel like I have family members who are gone, an immense respect and a sense of sadness for every American hurt by what happened.
And not to mention this John Barry soundtrack that gives a yummy and desperate feeling, as if people who have lost their loved ones have a second chance for just a second to see them, hug, kiss and wish them good luck on the other side.
Every Brazilian MUST start a comment with "I am Brazilian" or "Here in Brazil" or "As a Brazilian". Trust me, "as a Brazilian" myself, no one out here gives a rat's ass. It's embarrassing.
There's actually more computer bugs similar to the Y2K one. The 2038 bug is coming. But it wont be a big deal if companies computer infrastructure is on 64 bit machines.
I miss this time in this country. It's both nostalgic and eerie to see what is no longer. Rest in peace to those who died, and love to the families who have had to live without them. Those of us that were alive on this day will never forget.
@anythinggoes5574 I agree. I may be biased, because I was 19 in 99, and 21 when 9/11 happened, but apart from cell phones and car builds the footage doesn't look that aged. On 9/11 footage you just see people with laptop cases and backpacks that could just as well walk around now. Compare this to footage of mid-70s, same time inbetween but a lot more different.
Weirdest thing is my grandmother and grandpa told me what they were doing the exact moment during Pearl Harbor. My father and mother told me exactly where they were doing when President Kennedy was assassinated. I'll be telling my son what I was doing during 9/11.
Oddly enough, about two weeks prior to 9/11, I brought up those two events with a question to my friend. I asked her what she thought the defining moment of our generation was.
For people feeling nostalgic one day you will watch a video of a place in 2019 and feel very nostalgic just be grateful and enjoy where you are now Edit: 8 Months later and I didn't think the world would be this different when I wrote the comment. All the Covid, fires, lockdown.... I'm grateful that I was grateful back then and enjoyed my time. Stay safe.
Yeah but there was more of a sense of safety back then. I mean there was still very scary stuff happening but not as bad as today. People are afraid of everything now.
@@guyfamily11 yea but in 10 years it will be the same. The people will say back in 2019 it was way more safe than today. It will always be like this. Jaidah Zavaglia it’s sad how when the attack happend in the south tower the people in the north tower saw that and where leaving the building but the police men told them to stay and keep working 😓
I really miss old school America back in the 90s. Our world has changed a lot since 9/11. Social media ruined society and mobile phones made a lot of people anti-social. The world seemed happier and humble back then...which was more healthier
Honestly, I rather be on my phone than communicate with most of these fools in America. Trying to have a decent conversation with someone is difficult nowadays. Of course, that just proves your point on how technology has messed with newer generations, but since my generation is fucked, I’m not going to try to fix it. I’ll continue keeping to myself.
For 5minutes and 20seconds I felt like I was transported back in time. I felt like I was there but also new the future. That feeling and the music made the moment so much more beautiful. Waving to the the people at the pier and looking at all the people was magical. Watching the show and just enjoying the moment was so relaxing. Gazing upon the horizon looking at the world was mesmerizing. This world is beautiful and the people in it are blessed. Enjoy life and take time to enjoy those moments that take your breath away. And if you get a chance travel back in time. Travel away from stress and the things that don’t matter to a world where the sun is shining on your face and the sky is blue. Remember this until peace fills your soul. God bless. 🏢🗽🏢
Peggy Sullivan I didn’t get to see the old towers in person, because I wasn’t in born in the 90s. I was born in 2006, but however, I like the older designs of the twin towers better. I like the new design of the One World Trade Center, but it’s a little too flashy for my taste. I wish those terrorists didn’t attack the old towers in the first place. But at least the Pentagon is still here. :)
@@peggysullivan5396 honestly the one world trade center looks nice but those new tall super skinny buildings they built all across Manhattan are fuckin ugly they fuck up the whole NYC skyline, idk what made them think those were ok to build
While I share your sentiment, I'm afraid we have forgotten. Not us, as citizens but our leaders have. This administration is letting hundreds of thousands of people into our country. We are not vetting these people so we have no way of knowing who they are. Undoubtedly we have let members of errorists organizations in. It's very possible at this moment they are plotting another terrorist attack against us. I guarantee we will see something similar to 911 and it will be traced back to this time period of completely open border . Not to get political but anyone who is horrified by the events of 9/11/01 needs to vote Trump
It’s been 20 years since 1999. Hard to believe, the 90s and early 2000’s seem like such a long ago and dreamlike time already. Thanks for sharing this, especially for people who never had the privilege of visiting the towers before the tragedy. May their souls Rest In Peace.
Dreamlike is such an accurate word to use to describe those times. Thinking about the early 2000s feels so “dreamlike” it’s like those type of moments or memories I made will never be attainable. It’s bittersweet to think about.
I never got to visit New York until I was 12, in May 2002. This makes me sad because I was so close to experiencing the towers!! It was on my 5 year old bucket list because I loved the look of the towers.
The 90's were very dreamlike indeed. It also feels like this, because we were kids. Our world wasn't tainted by the darker aspects of life, or adulthood cynicism. And on a side note- the 90's were the last great era to be a kid in.
The towers were the center of my work universe between 1997-1999, having worked directly across them in One Liberty Plaza. Spent so much time during my lunch hours in the plaza between the two towers., There was so much life there back then with thousands of corporate workers and tourists in and around the area. We had several special occasions in the Windows of the World restaurant, as well as a family trip to the roof when I was 13. I'm a lifelong New Yorker and have visited and worked in the area since the devastating attack. NYC has done an impressive job of rebuilding, however, I view this horrific tragedy as the end of our innocence. We lost so many innocent lives that day.
I’m 18 working in one liberty plaza as we speak lol. From the roof you can see the freedom tower, i can just imagine how the twin towers would look if they were still up today.
Everytime I watch this video , it brings me back to when I was a kid and visiting Manhattan. This is how I’ll always remember Manhattan before 9/11. It makes me sad to see how our world has changed and will continue to change, moving away from peace and unity. I love being a New Yorker and I will always hold this pre-9/11 time in my heart ❤️
there have always been conflicts and there will always be. Life is about 50% good and 50% bad, don't cling to the negative, it will truly color your days in a bad light.

Russia and Eastern Europe was in total turmoil, murders and poverty and non-functioning state though. But you're right when it comes to the west, 90s had mostly a really good upbeat feeling here in the west. I had that feeling too. A good song to represent the 90s (among others) is 2 unlimited - No limit. "No no limit, we'll reach for the sky! /No valley to deep, no mountain too high/No no limit, won't give up the fight/We do what we want and we do it with pride!"
You also had the Yugoslav Wars in Europe, the Rwandan genocide, numerous civil wars and government collapses in Africa, the fall of Afghanistan to the Taliban. The 90s were a good time for the west, having finally kinda won the Cold War and feeling vindicated etc, but a terrible time for much of the rest of the world. Statistically the world has gotten better in many ways since then, sans coronavirus. It's just harder to see it with 24/7 news feeding the world a constant stream of doom from every corner of your life.
It's like watching Titanic footage before the ice berg. I guess Prince was right, I should have partied hard in 1999 because it's been a slow downward spiral for America since 2000.
The greatest skyscrapers of all time. One on its own was just a steel block, but the two side by side made for an incredible sight. The way they stay the same massive width all the way up to the top made them look so imposing, no other skyscraper has this effect, and there were two of them. That shot of the North Tower from the roof of the South is incredible, it really puts into perspective just how colossal these towers were. If I could bring back one structure in history, it would be this WTC.
Yes, you put into words what I always thought, they were colossal. Even standing a few blocks away looking up at them looming above the other building and their width, they were so impressive and intimidating. I worked a few blocks away and would frequently spend time in the plaza or the mall below.
For the American government 9/11 has been the gift that keeps giving. It’s been a tax dollar bonanza give away for the military industrial complex and corporate America who builds their weapons.
This brought tears to my eyes. I was a flight attendant at that time for Continental Airlines and based in Newark. My greatest regret is that I never took the time to go over the river into Manhattan and visit them :(
I want to go back to the 1970s too AND back to the 1980s... BEST OF TIMES! Life was great! Had the best music, best TV, best movies. My life was fantastic, had a Forrest Gump life then. And a Forrest HUMP life! Lol. Last century was excellent, the best. Now life sucks, people believing liars, and this is the worst century ever. Even black plaque was better! Lol. So I totally agree with you, 1,000,000%. Wish I could go back in time. But I'd take some of my things like tech things back with me.
No dissrespect at all to the victims but i would have jumped because you can feel yourself free for a couple seconds. You knew you died every choice i would fly my last seconds free like a bird
@ThomasG10mtn OK, i actually meant ESCAPE the fire, but by default that essentially means jumping because there was no way to climb down of course. The point is, people would risk certain death by climbing out of windows rather than burn. Horrible to watch, and i can't imagine what they went through, though.
When u look at this video it seems like everything is so peaceful, then u look at a video on 9/11/2001 and it makes u want to go back in time and warn ppl to somehow avoid this tragedy
Sadly, no... All that was just one more awful continuation of world's politicians anti-people job, as a consequence of the Cold war, USA financing Pakistan terrorists and mujahadeen (actually starting modern terrorism) against Communist Afghanistan. That was a revenge for Vietnam as a part of a Cold war, started by Churchill, Kennan, Truman etc after a WW2, which was a continuation of WW1, which was a consequence of previous wars... And sadly, all that is continuing with civilians dying around the world, and it will continue until al humanity will be united...
Why do i find this such a fantastic observation? You're right, so many scenes of people engaged with each other. And cameras in people's hands. Just a photo here and there. Not constant videoing, etc.
Plenty of people could afford mobile phones in 99, they had become pretty cheap by that point. Your observation is still correct though, as a cell only had a few basic functions - calls, sms and maybe a calculator, so you'd only see one in public if someone was making a call. Not like the narcissistic looking glasses everyone stares into nowadays.
What scares and saddens me to imagine is that most likely on that day there were people stuck on this floor with no way out and what we're seeing in this video was the last thing they saw before they jumped or fell with the buildings. Can't believe some had jumped from that high. Just so sad.
I thought the same thing but looking out the windows of the new WTC from the observation floor. Investigate the Bush Crime Family and their associates for the murder of over 3000 innocent civilians on 9-11.
I've WALKED down 27 floors during a fire drill and complained. I can't imagine what it was like walking down 30, 40, 50 flights....not imagining that you might not make it out. WTC was a modern day Titanic in its grandeur. What too many people DON'T think of , for buildings that high, is the ESCAPE options, in case of even a normal emergency. There need to be more options for people in wheel chairs, etc.
Fuzzy Bunny Slippers Well, it's different when we remember that the Titanic was a negligent accident but the 9/11 tragedy was a terrorist attack. That's what's more intriguing about it, if it would've been an accident the entire event would've taken a whole different perspective. But no, this was caused by the hatred of humanity. Sadly.
Compared with today the 90's seem like a dream world... like a beautiful dream world which is lost forever and only lives on in our memories. 2020-21 seems like a nightmare compared to this beautiful footage and not just because of that virus, in general!
Norm Macdonald it was attacked by terrorist and they hijacked passenger planes and crashed them into the twin towers and it collapsed a few hours later. Many people dead that day in those buildings and planes. One of the worst days ever
Nope, it is inspirational. To see what kind of beauty the Twin Towers stood for when they were standing proud. Very bold, strong and daunting. No surprise they came to *symbolize* the contemporary spirit and vitality of New York.
I was in the building when the first plane hit (subway level). This video made me feel terribly sad. I remember the optimism of the 90’s. I remember the concerts there, the times I would tell friends “let’s meet there.” I remember working there and having to take the elevator to go to lunch. This video isn’t just about the trade center, but an America that seems to have disappeared and fallen into itself since then. Now 2020 America-it is like everything we thought was true-isn’t. I miss you 1990’s America.
To be honest... Europe is now much worse, than America. It was the same in the 90s, as America. But nowadays it became a much more dangerous place. I live in middle europe - and back in the 90s it was no problem to even walk in the middle of the night home from a friend. No safety issue at all. Nowadays, i wouldnt even recommend that, if someone is male. Let alone female. And its not only that. Financial crisis too... the dollar isnt safe anymore... the Euro isnt safe anymore. Both currencies are in a rollercoaster of inflation. People also doesnt trust in eachother anymore. Internet made us think, that ''everyone could be a predator'' , Covid also divided us. Women nowadays got more nitpicky...And in general its all about forcing narratives on eachother. Humor got less... most people are so easy offended. Even humor in media got much less. No Al Bundy anymore... everything has to be ''political correct'' .. We arent even allowed to say everything we want (RUclips itself shadowbanned me a lot for normal postings). The climate got much more hotter (at least in middle europe). We have less and less privacy (because of the goverment - but also because of companies, who collect every information about us... which then get leaked to criminals). We are judging people much sooner than in the 90s. We see ghosts where there is nothing ..(for instance: we see racism, inequalities, everywhere). And we dont have a grasp on reality anymore (on genders, ... even on biological facts: what a women is). Now... i dont want to deny: the 90s weren't perfect. Of course not. But it was much more human. There was no digital wall which divided us, and/or made us see predators and ghosts everywhere. We had phones...but the phones back then really were there: to connect us, .. not to make more distance between us like ''i dont have to call him to meet him, when i also can write him simply a textmessage'' And even babyinternet back then, was mostly there to look something up, or get some updates for games, and/or windows. And even the first Chats back then, were perceived as something: to later meet that interesting person. Not for ''chatting to kill some time...but not meeting , because 'who knows who is behind that nickname' '' ... There were much less paranoia back then. So yes - overall it was a much better time - in every aspect. And i dont say that, because i was ''young'' back then. I can compare those days. And yes, there are few things which are better today, than back then. But overall the 90s were better.
@PygmalionFaciebat meh, we're dying of preventable illnesses, with America leading the world in Healthcare costs, g*n violence, and incarcerated/recividism rates. Use comparable information instead of incorrectly comparing a continent with a country. We fall behind individual European countries.
What a moving tribute to the Twin Towers. I have such happy memories of my last visit to World Trade Centre in 1998 not that long after they had been attacked from below. I left NYC knowing I'd be back, but I never imaged I'd be back with the company I worked for at the time to install a commemoration of the first anniversary of the attacks. I've been back many many times since and how wonderful it was to visit the new WTC observatory and reclaim that wonderful view again after so much tragedy.
I was 13 and also just came back from school to enjoy some snacks in front of the television. I tuned in to the live footage, when everyone still thought it was an accident. R.i.p. to all the people who lost their lives on that sad day, and r.i.p. to the old world
My father took me and my brother to the WTS observation deck. What I recall most is that the building was so tall you had take 2 separate elevators. Even yet I felt dizzy as I exited the second elevator My physicist father who has since passed away told me something I haven’t forgotten. The world trade center towers were so tall that they actually proved that the world is round. They were farther apart at the top then they were at the bottom. Yeah let that sink in! My father was a brilliant man but he was also a man of few words, those few words had a way of hitting you so that by the time you got the point he’d be smiling at you to see if you got his point. And you’d never forget them! Miss you dad💔
The decade after the end of the cold war and before the age of terrorism and technology. A unique time that I wish I could experience. Edit: I had no idea this comment would get so much attention
pduran880 oh come off it it was better because you were younger and David, the 90’s weren’t any better than now, sure for curiosity sake I understand, I’d like to go back and see the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s but I wouldn’t want to be stuck there. I’m more interested in the future, the only bad thing that I would change about time passing is the getting older thing that goes along with it.
I graduated high school in 1986. The 80s were the pivot, I think. Many of us who were teens during the 80s started questioning the government. We raged against the machine too. What a time it was! We were the "f*ck you" generation....we didn't trust easily, we created video games for generations to enjoy, and we still don't trust the government.
David Feltheim The internet did exist in the 90’s you know, technologically speaking I think a lot more happened say between the 70’s and 1999 than the 90’s and today
Terrorism didn't begin in 2001. Technology didn't just happen in 2001. Interesting that YOU have a YT channel but complain about technology. Interesting that your YT channel is just a year old and has zero content and no history. What YOU are is a troll and one of the favorite games is to post comments on historical videos and say shit like '... it was so much better before ...' Trolls like you love to post similar nonsense on channels like Yesterday Today and other channels that focus on historical events and times. There are two drivers for this trolling: first we have Russian trolls that are paid to promote the idea that the leadership in the west is destroying the good old times; and second, you have right-wing nuts that like to spin this to promote there racist agenda. Which one are you?
Personally I think it was 9.03am when the second plane hit, up until the point of the 2nd plane hitting the other tower people thought it was a terrible accident, once the 2nd plane it the other tower the situation became clear and our whole world change instantly :(
This is why it’s so important to remember the past, so we not just repeat old mistakes, but more importantly, remember all the great things we had, and how it’s important to appreciate every single great moment in life.
@@gingerelvira6587 I honestly don't feel like things are all that different as far as "visually" speaking. If you were to look at a video from the 70's or 80's there would be extremely distinct fashions of the times that would signify more of when it was than this period in time. I'm 38 and don't really feel like the late 90's or early 2000's were really that significant a period of time. The thing that really lets you know the period of this video, besides the Towers still standing, is the fact that people weren't all walking around with their heads down viewing the world through a digital device. They were actually engaged in the world around them. That's the biggest difference in society then and society now. I actually think it's what makes modern times much worse. Although times weren't perfect in the late 90's either. The Lewinsky scandal was huge and America was only a few years removed from the outrage over the OJ verdict as well.
The music paired with the images of this just makes me tear up. Life was just so very different back then. It was simple....almost like a innocent purity to it.
This was 2 years ago that I wrote this already? Now I'm even more depressed....I long to go back in time before this.....before my mom died in a car accident, and now before I lost my dad to covid....I want to go back to when I had both parents. Some days I feel like I'm living in a nightmare that I just can't wake up from.
Beautiful, and so eerie. So emotionally charged, knowing what would to come just a couple of years later. I was at the base of these gigantic structures, looking up in absolute awe, in 1972, before they were officially opened. I never entered them afterward nor visited the observation deck. I wish I had.
Sincerely, everything changed.... people got less trustworthy, cops got 10x more vigilant, paranoia and fear was in the air, embarking on our descent into madness. ..
As a kid, from our place in B'klyn, I could see the WTC being built and filling the skyline. Much later and at uni, I had a summer job hand-delivering documents to the various financial concerns located in towers 1 and 2... which gave me many chances to ride their super-fast elevators. Then, a few years after that, flying back to NYC for Xmas, the captain in our plane enthusiastically prompted the passengers to take in the port side view; an absolutely picture perfect view of Manhattan Island during sunset. He said, "Isn't that something?" A few rows in front of us were two guys who had jumped out of their starboard seats to get at the port windows. They hi-fived. It was great.
I'm just filled with emotion by the mix of footage and music...…… I'm Irish and have no connection to NYC but I cant explain the sense of loss, emotion and anger I feel when I look at videos such as this of the great Towers..... but this has shown the everyday life of the twin towers...not only were they a workplace, but a place of awe and joys for so many and then it was so brutally and wrongly taken away, along with so many brave souls. I'm sad to think I will never get to see those Iconic fetes of engineering and for all those that passed on that fateful day...……… This was taken in a happier, simpler time which adds to its powerful and emotional effect. I'm just so happy I found it...….. Thank you Michael.
I went there two times. Once when I was very small with my family to eat on the lower floors and another time I was a little older my dad took us up the elevator and we saw the skyline. When we were riding up the elevators my ears popped and I felt uncomfortable. There was a woman riding in there with me she was dark skinned with short hair and had kind eyes. She was dressed professionally and had some papers in her hands and a briefcase. She saw me and told me to open my mouth and it helped. That's the only memory I have.
This video is hauntingly beautiful. I've had goosebumps and wells of water built up in my eyes, my jaw tense. The fate of those buildings and innocent people seemed like a far fetched nightmare at the time. The world was at peace in this moment. It's so eerie seeing this footage now.
I have been inside too and want to see more footage of inside to refresh my memory. I know the views I went there 3 times and I wanted to see what the indoor observatory on video to see how much I can remember last time I was there was 94
Yeah I am building the World Trade Center in Minecraft and I am trying to find images of Windows on the World the Observatory (indoor) and the interior of the Marriot World Trade Center.
Beautiful, emotional video, today it's 22 years already since that sad, horrible day. I still think about it very often and specially on this day I can feel the same emotions I felt then. Rest in peace, never forget 9/11 and all the innocent victims.
The world is what you make it in the end. You can lay in sadness, or frolic in optimism. The good times end, but so do the bad. They nd so new good times can begin
Thanks so much for posting, I'm so glad I had the chance to see them in person. My dad took us when they opened in 73 and I still have my observation deck ticket from the 90's.
Sunshine Sunset Glad you liked the video :) I still have my observation deck ticket - in fact, I collected a lot of tickets from various places over the years - and have a few in a frame in our dining room. The WTC ticket is in there along with the Empire State Building and Sears Tower, some old Eastern Airlines boarding passes, Disney tickets etc - lots of happy memories for me.
Somewhere I have one of the original brochures the Port Authority gave out when the complex was first designed. The only other ones I've seen was in the skyscraper museum.
ElevatorMan5482 ElevExperiencing Productions I hate the new Freedom Tower that is there right now. We should have rebuilt the twin towers the way they were. Now there are 3 new buildings there along with the memorial where the twin towers stood and Lower Manhattan looks ugly now. The original Twin towers were far better than the new buildings. The twin towers were very beautiful and made Lower Manhattan famous. By not rebuilding the twin towers we let the terrorists win. Al Qaeda and the U.S. government altered the skyline.
Thanks for uploading. I visited the WTC complex and the top of the South Tower on July 1, 2001. As you rightly say, little did anyone know that terrible fate will befall upon these beloved towers in just two-and-a-half months. I literally cried when the towers fell. Even though the new WTC complex is also a shining beacon of Engineering and aesthetics (and in a way helped ease the pain of losing the twin towers and moving ahead), the WTC twin towers will always remain in our hearts. May the twin brothers rest in peace.
90's were great. All we needed was a family desktop and some good TV shows and we were set. The days before everyone walked around with mini computers in their hands.
Not really, the 90's were boring and had nothing compared to now, the internet and the technology is the good thing about today and makes life alot easier, back then everything was alot harder, i didn't think it was that great, kind of sucked actually, didn't have shit back then
that is what I thought. The jumpers are the most painful thing to me. After the first plane hit I bet the majority that jumped did not even know it was a plane, just some kind of explosion and they started to burn to death, so jumped. I think about it a lot - people say 'Oh no, my daughter was religious, she would not have jumped.' but if you are in a room and a fireball is coming at you and you see blue clean air - which way do you go?
debbie schneider yeah over 200 people jumped. I just learned it was that much this year... apparently the public doesn’t talk about it much because like you said, it makes people uncomfortable. But if you feel Like you’re about to burn to death, jumping might seem like the best option
Thank you for making this video, after the 23rd Anniversary since the attack on America and the World Trade Center, this video is priceless. I have tears in my eyes thinking of those people and all that happened. May GOD Bless America and help us to get along better with each other.
Milksteak just stating the facts about the horrific and unnecessary Iraq War. You did in the original comment speak of how bad the world is, and I just stated, through facts, that we live in the best age possible, even though improvements are necessary.
I look at videos like this, and when I see the people in them living their lives, and having fun, I often think about if they're still alive, and what they might be doing now. I hope most of the people in this video, those who are still alive at least; are doing well, and are managing themselves well.
My family and I visited NYC and the 9/11 memorial in 2021, just a month before the 20th anniversary. I thought it was going to be eerie walking around the reflection pools knowing so many people jumped to their death there, but it wasn't eerie at all. It was peaceful and calm. It truly is sacred ground and I'll always remember it.
While I agree with your statement, there was crazy media, and smartphones weren't a bad thing. Many great things have been achieved usuing modern technology. But yes there was anyways has been crazy media.
I vividly remember visiting as an 11-year-old, getting a cup of hot chocolate from one of those snack stands in the plaza, and just gazing up at those towers... crazy how times flies...
I did the same back when I visited in 1979. It was close to New Year's, and it was cold. I was looking up at the towers too, and snapping pictures. Thanks for your memory, and was happy to share mine. (Jan Griffiths).

@@Ashes2Ashes_Blush2Blush I must agree. Its not the same anymore. Its like the world changed for the worst after several decades of fighting for an stable world. This modern era is like the new Dark Ages after Rome fell.
Rest In Peace to everyone that day who lost their lives. With that said I really miss those towers. I was fortunate to see those towers plenty in my life. My dad worked across from the south tower in the bankers trust building. And going to public school in the 80s and 90s a lot of school trips were to the observation deck. No matter how many times I saw the building it always mesmerized me every time I looked at them. My last memory was on September 9 driving downtown that night and turning off around chambers street looking left and seeing the towers. Then returning after 9/11 and life changed. Never seen a state trooper in the city with that you had the army everywhere it was scary to see. That last night down there on September 17 remembering the lights running on ground zero for the clean up and search rescue would always haunt me. I haven’t been to the new memorial site yet since it’s been down. But to me I would have rebuild the towers the same way they were back then. To remind Americans that we are strong and nothing changes our culture. Not seeing those towers anymore is a reminder of something happening down there that changed our lives forever. Even though we should never forget. We shouldn’t live in fear and allow that day to control the way we live going forward.
Regrettably, we allowed that horrible event to change us. We let them force our hand and we willingly exchanged freedoms and privacy for the illusion of security purely because we were afraid. Terrorists terrorize. So in that regard, they were successful. We got scared. The terrorists won. I agree that we should have built them back the same way. To send the message that fear won't change us would have been a powerful message to send to the world. But we were weak and instead we built a monument to our vulnerability and insecurities.
I often think about these Towers. I fell some kind of sadness and melancholy when i see them all and strong, knowing how a terrible fate would meet them
My heart aches when I recall what happened on that fateful day. The music you’ve chosen to accompany the video, is so solemn and a fitting tribute to all the poor souls that were lost. 💔 😢🇺🇸
There is so much proof it was a military plane, no commercial stickers or anything. Even people who witnessed it saw it was just gray. Do some research before you yell shit at me.
everyone is talking about how dark the world has gotten and i disagree. only 60 years or so before this was taken WW2 had ended and we’d seen mass murder. the world isn’t getting worse, we’re just growing up
F5Storm1 But that took over 100 years to decide and rebuild it. Who knows? Maybe the towers will be rebuilt in about a century? Although the chances could possibly be very low.
I've never been to NYC. Thank you for this. It is so nice to see what it looked like and how everyone seemed so happy. I wish I could have seen it before crime, Covid, and all the rest.

Did you feel safe inside?
Were the towers strong?
And how high up did you work, and did the towers move a lot?

The 90’s seem like a utopia now.

Wasn’t born at that time but i can see why.
I don't no if it's the blue skies. Mellow atmosphere or that we were new to advancing tech but the 90s had a different dreamy laid back feeling than today's modern dark world
It's hard to put the 90s into words like any other decade but that's a pretty good way to sum it up
And with music fad of the late '90s changing its course but I think that around 2003 2004 when things started to feel or sense "differently " than with pop culture changing with the times and the now new and "improved" hate culture and eventually the troll and savage culture where everything is lit and or savage bahahahaha what's gonna be the next fad we call and say things are idk what's past savage

Its something about these old 90s/2000s private videos. That vibe and how the world looked through the lense. Even though every era and time had its problems but this world, this time looks so easy and wonderful to live in.
It really was.

B O why?
With so many 9/11 type video's, this one is so peaceful. I watched it 3 times. Thanks for posting.
It's crazy to think that some of the people in this video would lose their lives in the very place they loved being in. RIH WTC 💔🙏🏽
The whole world changed after 9/11. May those who lost their lives that day rest in peace 🙏🙏🙏🙏.
I’m 18 working in one liberty plaza as we speak lol. From the roof you can see the freedom tower, i can just imagine how the twin towers would look if they were still up today.
Thank you for sharing your story. It makes me sad just to think of that 😔
I am really in love of New York city, I wish I can go to New York city some day. Greetings from Colombia 🇨🇴
This nails it. 🧡🧡

But all my original post was about was saying I was thankful for the happier times in my youth. Times WERE different then. It was difficult to see how that got turned into something ugly.
The 90s were probably some of the best years for humanity, the world was at general peace, people felt... safe. That’s not something people feel as much anymore.

Agreed. Well said. Beautiful skyscrapers.
I can see how people may not like the basic geometry, but up close you see some interesting details in it especially at the base.
I really hope the 9-11 never happened before.Twin towers are very beautiful skyline. And I think it looks much better than the current Freedom tower
@@Friedheim. Plus, inside, the old ones had far more things to do inside than what the Freedom Tower has. As far as I know from photos and videos.
Yes, you put into words what I always thought, they were colossal. Even standing a few blocks away looking up at them looming above the other building and their width, they were so impressive and intimidating. I worked a few blocks away and would frequently spend time in the plaza or the mall below.

You're right. The Democrats/Communists have dragged down everything to the lowest common denominator-right into the gutter where they reside.
Seeing that view and knowing so many people saw that before they jumped is sickening
I thought the same thing. I am very afraid of heights. I can't imagine having to make the choice between jumping or burning.
No dissrespect at all to the victims but i would have jumped because you can feel yourself free for a couple seconds. You knew you died every choice i would fly my last seconds free like a bird
ThomasG10mtn i think if i can choose to die of a collapsing building or die from a last flight i think im going for the flight
You would have jumped. It's instinct to do whatever you have to, to avoid fire. You wouldnt have even thought about it long, either.

Phone bad. Book smart. New generation stupid.
@@justnoah2073 hahah these people amirite

We had phones...but the phones back then really were there: to connect us, .. not to make more distance between us like ''i dont have to call him to meet him, when i also can write him simply a textmessage''
And even babyinternet back then, was mostly there to look something up, or get some updates for games, and/or windows.
What a vomit of mostly nonsense bullcrap.

Then, a few years after that, flying back to NYC for Xmas, the captain in our plane enthusiastically prompted the passengers to take in the port side view; an absolutely picture perfect view of Manhattan Island during sunset.
This is really beautiful. With the music, the footage, everything. Thank you for posting it!! And we will never forget!
Hannah Reviews the government killed all those innocent people
SkyView Cinematic, LLC pshhhh, you believe in the government? Nice try there. It’s a farce created by big pharma.
Little did anyone know what some very very wicked people with extreme wickedness in their hearts would do in a few short months
90's were great. All we needed was a family desktop and some good TV shows and we were set. The days before everyone walked around with mini computers in their hands.
I want break every single mini computer on this planet
@@pollymahone9392 me too
People use to read book , newspaper during commute to work, now people look at the phone for unless information. Steve job is evil
@Sam Shater cheaper tho
@@liolio4198 I use myn to cheack up on the election polls and conferences so I wouldn't say he is evil and only useless information is given
The 90s is the best decade ever!!! Nowadays, world looks more complex and frustating!
You mean world now looks more boring with less variety.
Azzi Romanoff You don't miss the water until the well runs dry.
Are u serious? Everything looks the same.
Not really, the 90's were boring and had nothing compared to now, the internet and the technology is the good thing about today and makes life alot easier, back then everything was alot harder, i didn't think it was that great, kind of sucked actually, didn't have shit back then
No it aint decades are relative to experience but I have to say it reminds me of my visit in 1993, brings back happy memories !!!
My heart is breaking. The views that the jumpers were watching hanging on the windows.... RIP...
Omg yes
that is what I thought.
I thought the same thing! They knew they were gonna die and it wasn’t exactly quick. Those few seconds on the way down must have been horrible! 😔😪
and with that beautiful music. moving
Thank you for making this video, after the 23rd Anniversary since the attack on America and the World Trade Center, this video is priceless. I have tears in my eyes thinking of those people and all that happened. May GOD Bless America and help us to get along better with each other.
Truly surreal and so melancholic. The world has become so dark, we’ll never get these times back.
so why did you blow them up?
Yes I miss the 90s things seemed easier then. People were more carefree and interacted more with each other.
9/11 isn't the cause of that, social media is.
9/11 killed two thousand, and we’ve killed anywhere from 450k-1.2 million CIVILIANS in Iraq alone. But, we’re the good guys, right?
Milksteak just stating the facts about the horrific and unnecessary Iraq War. You did in the original comment speak of how bad the world is, and I just stated, through facts, that we live in the best age possible, even though improvements are necessary.
I look at videos like this, and when I see the people in them living their lives, and having fun, I often think about if they're still alive, and what they might be doing now. I hope most of the people in this video, those who are still alive at least; are doing well, and are managing themselves well.
me too i hope so
It almost seems like another lifetime... NYC skyline will NEVER be the same...devastatingly sad 😔
Back when there was no smart phones no crazy media what a magic time
A camera phone was a big deal, a matter of envy.
Bill G they didn’t exist
Wizdumb37 yes they did.
Becca Ann lies
While I agree with your statement, there was crazy media, and smartphones weren't a bad thing. Many great things have been achieved usuing modern technology. But yes there was anyways has been crazy media.
I vividly remember visiting as an 11-year-old, getting a cup of hot chocolate from one of those snack stands in the plaza, and just gazing up at those towers... crazy how times flies...
That sounds like a beautiful and peaceful memory
Thank you for sharing it with us
I did the same back when I visited in 1979. It was close to New Year's, and it was cold. I was looking up at the towers too, and snapping pictures. Thanks for your memory, and was happy to share mine. (Jan Griffiths).
Sweet memories of happy childhood
The place was full of joy... Concerts, Children, and Happy Workers 24/7... Now after standing for a mere 30 years. It's now gone... The laughter, The Joy, Beloved Family members now. gone...
Yeah
Honestly, America died that day.
@@Ashes2Ashes_Blush2Blush I must agree. Its not the same anymore. Its like the world changed for the worst after several decades of fighting for an stable world. This modern era is like the new Dark Ages after Rome fell.
Its not because of the twin towers, its because there were no phones back there....phones and the internet are the curse of modern human being
but NO NOT THE CHILDREN
Who could have predicted that in two years this buildings will be wiped from the face of this earth
Baba Wanga
@Gabriel Godina bullshit.
NebTheWeb Yes. American government along with Zionists planned the attack and used few Muslims to do it.
@@Sara2016a Horse manure.
NebTheWeb Just after one month or two you will agree with me 😀 have a nice day :)
I often think about these Towers. I fell some kind of sadness and melancholy when i see them all and strong, knowing how a terrible fate would meet them
exactly.
I wish the towers were still there.

*Tell The Pissraeli Mosaad Je-- I mean Arabs*
We should have rebuilt them as they were . the new one sucks
Dan Rustle uh they can't just rebuild the towers.
sorry i have to do this DEATH TO AMERICA AND BUTTER SAUCE DONT BOIL ME IM STILL ALIVE IRAQ LOBSTER MUSIC IRAQ LONSTER MUSIC

My heart aches when I recall what happened on that fateful day. The music you’ve chosen to accompany the video, is so solemn and a fitting tribute to all the poor souls that were lost. 💔 😢🇺🇸
I know I sound crazy but I wish they would have just rebuild everything the way it was Stronger but the same
Me too. Even if it was a target again. Still don't understand why the terrorists had such a problem with the WTC.
They wanted to send a message
shiba plays Tell that to the families of the people who were on the second plane. I'm sure their loved ones didn't book a flight on a drone, idiot.
John Miller agreed, so I decided to remove the comment
There is so much proof it was a military plane, no commercial stickers or anything. Even people who witnessed it saw it was just gray. Do some research before you yell shit at me.
everyone is talking about how dark the world has gotten and i disagree. only 60 years or so before this was taken WW2 had ended and we’d seen mass murder.
the world isn’t getting worse, we’re just growing up

earthy athena oh yeah lol
Not really. Things were better in the 90s.
This is different and could definitely all lead us to ww3
They look like the Titanic... unsinkable
Except they're rebuilding the titanic and not the towers
F5Storm1 they already made a new tower ya doof
Yeah & just like the Titanic, they shouldn’t have gone down…
F5Storm1 But that took over 100 years to decide and rebuild it. Who knows? Maybe the towers will be rebuilt in about a century? Although the chances could possibly be very low.
@@victordejesus2000 they'd never build it again

this technically isnt a tribute as its just vacation footage with overlay music
I've never been to NYC. Thank you for this. It is so nice to see what it looked like and how everyone seemed so happy. I wish I could have seen it before crime, Covid, and all the rest.
