It's not really that complicated. Self-ordering stations maximize user-friendliness, employee PoS machines maximize speed. Sure, there are other UX issues here (like mixing buttons for adding items with buttons for modifying existing items, or some menus being seemingly randomly arranged), but the main point is that everything is presented all at once - it's unintuitive for someone looking at it for the first time, but an employee that does this for 8 hours a day can punch out everything in seconds, without having to move between nested tabs of meal categories and going through 3 confirmation prompts.

@@lIII0IIIla meal is typically more bang for your buck if you want everything included (basically discounts everything by like 50 cents per item or so) but yes it is usually still cheaper to leave off the fries or drink. However you don’t really call it a meal if you don’t want the drink, because saying meal or combo implies that you want everything included. Just saying something like “I’ll have a burger with just a side of fries” suffices, I may clarify if you want a beverage but I’d still know that you probably don’t.

@@KatieT97 Thank you for the info. I understand the concept of the “meal with no XX.” If there is no XX then it’s not a “meal.” I want to make it as easy as can be when I order. I know it varies by location, but I always order cheeseburgers, “No Pickle. No Onion.” If I don’t say it explicitly that way, I might get some onions or pickles. Just my experience. I’m trying to make it easier for everyone!! Thank you again for your reply!!

Worked at mcdonalds and taking orders is something i never did. I practically did everything except take orders on drive thru or front end but i always worked on grill or on table and took out trash cleaned and gave customers their order outside.
    Miss working at Mcdonalds.

@@Hello_you909as someone who worked at mcdonald’s for 8/9 months & is planning on working there again soon bc i can’t find a job lmao, once u get use to everything it’ll become so easy. the pos system is rlly complicated the first few weeks of being there but once u start to remember each button or each trick, it’ll become like muscle memory. i didn’t work kitchen all my time there so idk what’s that like but making drinks was rlly simple as well as fries and hashbrowns. sending out the orders is probably the easiest job since all u do is pack the orders and call the receipt number out to the customers. drive thru is the most fun station imo whether that be doing payment or taking the order or giving out the food. during rushes it can be hell with everyone screaming at u where the order is at or a customer is complaining through the window but 70% of the time you’ll have a lot of fun. it’s a great job and it’ll make you realize how hard fast food actually is!

so the "4 digits" is a code for employee discount, given the fact u need the 4 digits password from the supervisor.. hypothetically, if I ask for a 4 digits on my order what are the chances I will be granted that discount? lol just wondering.
