This is more Chinese than Vietnamese restaurant. Houston Foodies go to Mai's at Milam Street for Vietnamese cuisine. Go to place since 1990's.
@@SundayCerrada123 Sorry I missed Mai’s on Milam when I lived in Houston. But I think Kim Son is more of a blend of the two cuisines. I could live happily on Chinese and Vietnamese food … but I like the really spicy rather than the sticky sweet - I’m a mala girl! And now I have to make mapo tofu because Raina got me hungry for good tofu!

that one has the dim sum restaurant across the hall from the buffet.

Very nice selection of food and looks very appetizing as well. I'd be hanging out by the WING station, those wings looked so YUMMY!! It's nice to say, 'thank you!" LOL!! That was sweet when the lady smiled...

I often wondered what it was like for you filming these videos in public. When I first started watching you I got the distinct impression that by nature you are a somewhat shy person. The thing I always admired about you (besides the fact that I find you absolutely adorable) is that you step well outside your comfort zone to make your dreams come true and to achieve your goals. It takes a mentally tough person to be able to do that as well as to do the competitions that you seem to almost always win.
This restaurant looks awesome! I’m crazy and like my spring roll dipped in the peanut sauce lol! Love how you explain your experiences in tasting each item
WOW, I'm amazed. Most Vietnamese food I've ever seen anyone eat at one sitting. We are doing a road trip to Houston and New Orleans and this place is a must visit.

I've been there before and it is some good food Raina! One of my favorites is Hunan Chef in Northwest Houston off FM 1960! Please try Hartz Chicken and Rolls, they have the best yeast rolls!

You are a superb buffet eater and describe! The guys I was watching - All You Can and Strictly Dumpling - are SO frustrating, they don’t know how to eat and explain as well as you do, and your food choices are far superior to the others: soups, vegetables, different kinds of noodles and rice, AMAZING tofu, herbs, and did I say soups? Not only that, but you actually let me see you “eat the whole thing”, LOL
It’s been over 30 years since I ate at Kim Son, when they were downtown and didn’t yet have this huge buffet. I remember how refreshing their spring rolls are, but I wish I’d had those green beans! I’m not much for going out to eat, but I could definitely share a table with you, Raina. You’re an excellent eater!

By the way the crispy omelette you had towards the end is called banh xeo. That one you need to wrap with the lettuce and mint and dip into the fish sauce🙂
String beans have always been my favorite from the buffet places. I don't eat buffet foods anymore because it's hard to find vegan options.
I don't think Kim Son is ready for Raina!!! Kudos to them to adapt to the current times and continuing to offer a buffet format.
This is one well organized and kick ass buffet restaurant.

When the buffets are open during quarantine..
There are a few buffets open to dine in at my area but most are closed. I want to go but I'm too scared. X.X
The noodle soup you ate after bun bo hue is called bun rieu (my fav). bun = rice noodles, and rieu = the crab and egg pieces in the dish. Also, when you wrap food into veggies like lettuce, add herbs, and dip it in a fish sauce mixture (usually fish sauce, sugar, garlic, water, and chilli).
Crazy that you’re in Houston, I’m a fan and I stay down here. Hope you like your stay down here. You chose the right spot for a Vietnamese buffet. Try shabu zone on bellaire and boone, all you can eat shabu, pretty good if you like soup based food.

They've gotten even better with more seafoods since your visit, last month I was there and they had clams, snails, mussels, crab, grilled shrimp, grilled oyster on half shelf. Also a sushi roll section.

I need the info on this place. I'm about 1 1/2 hours from Houston. If Golden Star opens back up in Beaumont, Tx.... you have to try the Octopus. It's my favorite !! I love that you will try anything.
