    Recently took a 4 hr roadtrip - '21Tundra CrewCab with 2 JL Audio's 10 in a tiny sealed box behind the seat. I kept smiling for the whole trip. So I was recently looking to upgrade my SVS SB2000 and ran across this video. The SB2000 was close to what I needed, just wanted a little more oomph.. Found an open box and discount coupon to snag the D110 for $765 - and it was worth every penny. It blends in well with my 2.1 setup in a very large open room. I can literally shake the walls (I've already had to re-hang 2 pictures). Great video and detailed explanation. Thumbs up to Nemo!

      any strong bass has the potential to disturb neighbors :( just be respectful and shut it down by 8pm if possible, then if they ever complain simply point that out and hope for some understanding. Some noise is to be expected when there are shared walls, I've found most neighbors are reasonable as long as you don't disturb them in the evening. Hope that helps.

    Nemo, As usual a fantastic review on the JL Audio D110. I have had a pair of black ash D110's for my primary audio system. I have them attached via hi level inputs to a pair of Monitor Audio Gold 100 5G speakers. My integrated receiver is a Yamaha AS2100 which is connected to a Denafrips Pontus via balanced connections. All I can say is that my system sounds fantastic as I typically listen to music primarily using Roon Nucleus with Farad Super 3 LPS.

    Been waiting for this for a year :) my choice was between rel tx7 and this jl audio one. I went with rel as i could go and hear it in showroom, jl was going to be a gamble. Pretty sure id have been very happy with either.

    • @erics.4113
      @erics.4113 2 года назад +4

      In my mind I put rel and JL at the polar opposite ends of the bass spectrum. I could be misguided in my logic but I've owned products from both companies. Two rel t7x for my home setup and 3 different JL enclosures and drivers in various vehicles over the years. I miss how the JL conducts business with a lot of music, but I do tend to think of it as more drama and effect and enhancement as opposed to being a true to source (whatever that means) type experience.
      The JL are like a concert or live, impactful and deep presentation and it's awesome. I miss it in my home setup but I have neighbors on a shared wall and the JL would absolutely be too much in my scenario. It does the mule kick thing with bass drums and impactful bass. The REL is smooth and gives you the impression of that weight without shaking down pictures from the wall.
      All that said I love my REL and appreciate what they do, but to be honest if I had my setup in a soundproof bunker that didn't disturb anyone.... I'd have a stack of JL subs punching the air out of my chest with bass drum hits and bass extension.

    • @rog86
      @rog86 2 года назад

      @@erics.4113 yeah, i get that. I have neightbours above and below, and to the side too, and i think the rel is perfect here, and is also the reason i didnt go up to the t9x. Going from nemo says, and my wxperience, the rel does do subtle bass tones very well, and i do really appreciate that in my 2 channel set up. I absolutely love it, and its changed my system completely for the better. Every 2 channel system requires one, unless you have speakers that go down well to 30Hz without roll off.

    • @erics.4113

      @@rog86 and I'd even say my REL are definitely more nuanced and textured than my experience with JL (in the car realm only). When you have all that punch and slam, some of the textured subtlety is lost maybe. I dunno. But I'm loving my t7x they are putting out some of the finest bass I've heard . Very happy man

As for F110, I am quite sure have very similar sound as E110 with adv of D.A.R.O. room correction. I think D110 is very good bargain compare to E110 or F110. Hey pat, if you'll be using it for theater for sure go for dual D110, if it's for stereo use the built in highpass crossover of the E110 or E112 will make that the preferred option for most stereo enthusiasts. I agree, problem is I want to keep both lol.

    Nemo, thank you for the great video(s). I have a tough issue I'm trying to solve - purchasing 1 or 2 of these to fill my fairly large basement (28 ft X 20 ft) or going with 1 E-12. I know you tend to say to spend more on the 1 better sub, but given how great this 10 is, curious if you'd recommend the 1 or 2 D10s over 1 E-12? The main movie quadrant of the basement is ~ 15 ft X 10 ft. Probably use the area 80% for movies, 20% for listening to music throughout entire basement area. I currently have a 7.1 setup for movies + 2 channels in bar area to fill sound through entire basement when listening to music - have a Yamaha receiver & all decent in wall speakers - nothing really fancy with audiophile level speakers, amps, preamps. I do see the value in adding a much better sub or 2 from the current (1) 10 in Episode I have in there now.
    I'm sure you'd have to see it to give best advice, but curious if that's enough for you to maybe give a recommendation.
    Also, do you think there would be much of a difference in speed between 10s and 12s? This sounds like a dumb question when I ask it (feel like most would always say a 10 is quicker), but JL seems to have such quick subs, maybe I wouldn't even notice the difference? Thinking about this in reference to some of the snappier, bass heavy, funk music I tend to listen to.

    • @NemoPropaganda
      @NemoPropaganda  Год назад +1

      Anytime someone is between 2 products or options from the same comapny I think it's best to contact the company directly or ask their local dealer. As far as speed, personally I do not feel a 10" is much different than a 12" sub in terms of speed or responsiveness. JL subs have great transient response, I expect that to be the case at any size.

    • @NemoPropaganda
      @NemoPropaganda  Год назад +1

      Both can pound pretty damn hard, the E110 was designed to be a better fit for systems where music is a priority which is why it has the onboard highpass crossover which works shockingly well to integrate the subwoofer into a 2ch system. If you don't need that function I think it's better to go for the D110 and use the extra cash for a second D110 later down the line or just save the money.

I’m genuinely curious if there is any SQ to be gained swapping those to F113v2, even at the expense of SPL, or is it so close that it’s not worth the hassle trading up? it's a different sound, the JL is more that heavy SPL style bass, if you're familiar with car audio think Digital Design or Fosgate where the REL is more of an SQ sub, again using car audio examples it would be more like a Focal or Morel driver. If you like really heavy bass then go for the JL, if you like a lighter tone thats easier on the ears but still forceful go for the REL. You should be able to demo either one locally if you're in the US.

For some people a compact 10" will be plenty even in a large room while other guys won't be happy with anything less than a pair of 18"s. So their sub line goes D, E, F and G? Maybe they will make a A and B line that mortals can afford? 🤭

    Complete rip off but I bet this is the sub to get.

      It's not a ripoff, It's expensive. Anytime you have a small subwoofer capable of serious output and extension for its size it's going to be expensive.
