When he first got there, he asked why they weren't advertising. They were like "I don't know.. We just never have." Some of this is understandable but for example a lot of fans hate the media coverage almost as much if not more so than other fans. We always seem to do better when people assume we'll suck anyways or our quiet about us so we roll our eyes at all the media attention which also correlates with the media saturation of today's media I really dont understand the hatred of Romo and I feel other team's fans hate on him because 'its Romo'. I think they remember 2007 when her dated Jessica Simpson and had a backwards baseball cap. Which apparently means he should be hated for life. Even though these days he is a completely team first guy, with a wife and two children and generally stays out the spotlight the best he can as the QB in Dallas. He has the most comebacks and Game Winning Drives since 2006, has the 2nd highest QBR in history, and is still insulted even though he was the only reason all those 8-8 teams even had a chance. Romo has played with a pierced lung to win a Game in OT. Played with broken vertebrae to lead a game winning drive to give his team a chance in Week 17 (which Kyle Orton then blew) and came back early this year only to be hurt again. Players like Irvin had drug issues in the 90s but have done their best to turn their life around. Heck half of his Hall of Fame speech was apologizing. They came up with 'America's Team'. Landry hated it at the time. But it stuck In the 80s the team went to 3 straight NFC Championship games but lost. They then fell off, bottoming out in 88 and 89. Then the children of the original generation of Cowboys fans saw a dynasty. Some of the best teams ever drafted. However the team had controversial figures and Jerry was the most seen owner in the NFL. In the 2000s the Cowboys fell off. But the media knew that they had the most fans and the most haters. So to this days the media follows the Cowboys every move. Like I said, me and many fans would like to just focus on our team with media that is close to valley ranch. I dont understand First Take doing a Cowboy segment in the middle of May. Actually I do, having those idiots Stephen A Smith and Skip Bayless (embarrassment to our fan base) gets great ratings. He ridiculed the Penn State d backs for being small. Miami lost! He did the same to an Eagles corner in the game Troy was sacked 11 Times. Then came Jimmy Johnson and he traded and drafted better than everyone and beat the hell out of the rest of us. In the last 26 years, the Boys have won 4(FOUR) playoff games! Schadenfreude! I don't hate them, they just aren't relevant!

I was a 1st grade student and now all I had to do was watch tv. I played sport but I started watching sports on TV with no favorite team . A neigbor that live down the street liked John Bordie and 49ers. I watched the NFC championship game when a young naval officer beat SF with 2 late tds that seemed like magic. I became a life time Cowboy fan and had a hero to pull for. At this time the NFL was growing and Clint Murchison owner of Cowboys hired Tex Scrham, Gil Braynt, Tom Landry to run the Cowboys. Tex and Pete Rozell were friends and worked hard to grow the NFL, make rules, split the revenue between all teams large and small markets. In the 70s the Cowboys accounted for 70% percent of all licensined merchandise sold. The Cowboys had a good coach whom ran a strick locker room with rules. No show boating after touchdownyers , playrs wore suits to games, all uniforms were the same , no player made his differant, shirts tucked etc. The coach had a suit on at every game with a top hat. If you did not follow rules you were not going to be a Cowboy. Tex got a new stadium built with a hole in the roof for God could watch his team. Billy Graham had alot of serivices, with Coach Landry. Gil found players at small schools that they drafted or signed as free agents. The Cowboys had one of the lowest payroll of all teams.Tthey got some petty girl and had the only cheerleaders in the in the NFL They sold out every game at home and sold out most away games . In 1976 we celeabrated the bicentennial in America , so the Cowboys changed one blue strip on there helment to red, thus having a red, white and blue strip. We had the Doomsday defence, the shootgun , the flex and line shift, we had 20 winning seasons. No getting around that one. 6-What makes the Cowboys cheerleaders so special? Because they invented the modern cheerleader squads. The Cowboys started dressing them differently than other teams with the shorts and boots and it started the whole thing we all enjoy today. I say they deserve extra attention for that and I thank them. 5-That makes zero sense. The Cowboys haven't won anyting for over 20 years and the fans are still with them. “Bandwagon” applies to a lot of teams, but Cowboys fans are the most stubbornly “loyal” group of them all. Try to imagine Patriots fans sticking with them through 20 years of losing. 4-How many fans would still hate them if they didn't win in the 90s? The same number as today apparently. If 20 years of losing doesn't reduce the hate, 30 years wouldn't either. Some forget that the Cowboys were the most hated team way back in the 70s so most of these reasons don't apply to that. This is generational hate. If Cowboys fans are called “bandwagon”...then the haters are too. They didn't start hating the Cowboys until they started winning....what a coincidence! But give them credit, the haters stick with it for no apparent reason. 3-Don't understand hating Romo. The guy is one of the biggest overachievers in NFL history. He was an undrated free agent. In second place would be when Terrell Owens scored against Dallas, ran out to the 50 yard line and stood right on top of their big blue pentagram. When he first got there, he asked why they weren't advertising. They were like "I don't know.. We just never have." As a Cowboy fan Ill right a comment that hopefully isn't jumped on people who hate the Cowboys without realizing a lot of behind the scenes. Some of this is understandable but for example a lot of fans hate the media coverage almost as much if not more so than other fans. We always seem to do better when people assume we'll suck anyways or our quiet about us so we roll our eyes at all the media attention which also correlates with the media saturation of today's media
I really dont understand the hatred of Romo and I feel other team's fans hate on him because 'its Romo'. I think they remember 2007 when her dated Jessica Simpson and had a backwards baseball cap. Which apparently means he should be hated for life. Even though these days he is a completely team first guy, with a wife and two children and generally stays out the spotlight the best he can as the QB in Dallas. He has the most comebacks and Game Winning Drives since 2006, has the 2nd highest QBR in history, and is still insulted even though he was the only reason all those 8-8 teams even had a chance. Romo has played with a pierced lung to win a Game in OT. Played with broken vertebrae to lead a game winning drive to give his team a chance in Week 17 (which Kyle Orton then blew) and came back early this year only to be hurt again. Players like Irvin had drug issues in the 90s but have done their best to turn their life around. Heck half of his Hall of Fame speech was apologizing. And hating him for accusations he has been deemed innocent of seems a bit low.
Heck even Jerry has gotten older and hence SLIGHTLY quieter recently as his son takes more power (the guy who was aganst the Deion Sanders signing, and the TO signing, etc, etc) though as a fan who became old enough to really follow football in the 2000s, yes he was a pain that decade. Still to hate that he built a stadium seems pointless. All the new stadiums are insane. Look at Minnesota, or the plans in LA.
Really this is how Dallas became so popular. Landry built a winning team with players that had a great image. The Vietnam Veteran Staubach, Mr. Cowboy Bob Lily, Charlie Waters, and Olympian Bullet Bob Hayes. Heck Landry himself was a WWII Vet. This was a more 'good' image to the rough and tough mystique of the 70s Raiders and Steelers. Dallas had TWENTY straight winning seasons. An unprecedented record which built a fanbase who had children raised as Cowboys fans. NFL Films saw that most away games had some Cowboys fans and they needed a title for their 78' Cowboys video. They came up with 'America's Team'. Landry hated it at the time. But it stuck
In the 80s the team went to 3 straight NFC Championship games but lost. They then fell off, bottoming out in 88 and 89. Then the children of the original generation of Cowboys fans saw a dynasty. Some of the best teams ever drafted. However the team had controversial figures and Jerry was the most seen owner in the NFL. In the 2000s the Cowboys fell off. But the media knew that they had the most fans and the most haters.
So to this days the media follows the Cowboys every move. Like I said, me and many fans would like to just focus on our team with media that is close to valley ranch. I dont understand First Take doing a Cowboy segment in the middle of May. Actually I do, having those idiots Stephen A Smith and Skip Bayless (embarrassment to our fan base) gets great ratings. But I would be happy with less coverage.
One last thing. Our fanbase can be arrogant sometimes but give us credit. The eagles have the worse fanbase in the NFL. From throwing snowballs at Santa. Throwing batteries and opposing players and fans. Assaulting opposing fans. Even stabbing them. And yet always talking crap. Oh and cheering that a player lays paralyzed on the field. Its a game at the end of the day yall.

As an 80 year old Iglles fan, Tom Landry drafted and developed players better than everyone and I jealously watched Dandy Don, Roger Staubach, Bob Lilley, Tony Dorsette etc etc. Along came Michael Irvine with the talent to alienate opposing players. He ridiculed the Penn State d backs for being small. Miami lost! He did the same to an Eagles corner in the game Troy was sacked 11 Times. Then came Jimmy Johnson and he traded and drafted better than everyone and beat the hell out of the rest of us. In the last 26 years, the Boys have won 4(FOUR) playoff games! Schadenfreude! I don't hate them, they just aren't relevant!

I was a small boy , growing up in a small town in the sixty when we had black and white TVs with only 1 channel. My father passed away 1 month before MLK did in 1968 . I was a 1st grade student and now all I had to do was watch tv. I played sport but I started watching sports on TV with no favorite team . A neigbor that live down the street liked John Bordie and 49ers. I watched the NFC championship game when a young naval officer beat SF with 2 late tds that seemed like magic. I became a life time Cowboy fan and had a hero to pull for. At this time the NFL was growing and Clint Murchison owner of Cowboys hired Tex Scrham, Gil Braynt, Tom Landry to run the Cowboys. Tex and Pete Rozell were friends and worked hard to grow the NFL, make rules, split the revenue between all teams large and small markets. In the 70s the Cowboys accounted for 70% percent of all licensined merchandise sold. The Cowboys had a good coach whom ran a strick locker room with rules. No show boating after touchdownyers , playrs wore suits to games, all uniforms were the same , no player made his differant, shirts tucked etc. The coach had a suit on at every game with a top hat. If you did not follow rules you were not going to be a Cowboy. Tex got a new stadium built with a hole in the roof for God could watch his team. Billy Graham had alot of serivices, with Coach Landry. Gil found players at small schools that they drafted or signed as free agents. The Cowboys had one of the lowest payroll of all teams.Tthey got some petty girl and had the only cheerleaders in the in the NFL They sold out every game at home and sold out most away games . In 1976 we celeabrated the bicentennial in America , so the Cowboys changed one blue strip on there helment to red, thus having a red, white and blue strip. The Cowboys were the only team to wear white jereseys ( usually away for most teams) The Cowboys had Chaptian America Roger Staubach, Golden Boy Bob Lilly, Fastest man , Bob Hayes, TD man Tony Dorsett, Drafted Herschel Walker on a gamble and won. Thankgiving game every year , alone with Detroit, no other teams wanted that thursday game. The players were held to a standard conduct on and off the field. We had the Doomsday defence, the shootgun , the flex and line shift, we had 20 winning seasons. Roger was forced into retirement because of head shot hits and we still went to the next 3 NFC championship , all losses. Think was it might have been had the comeback kid been there.with his hailmary.. Then comes lucky Joe ( he was trying to throw the ball out of endzone not to Clark) and Coach Landry got old . Jerry Jones purchased the Cowboys and named Jimmy Johnson the coach. the next day in a very disrespectful way dismissed the entire Cowboy staff. thank God for Jimmy Johnson coming alone to coach and make the football decisions with Jimmy the Cowboys were unstoppable. The rest is history! Look at us now , got to be Jerry Jones is the problem. Would like to send out a thanks to Tony Romo, probley the best QB Dallas ever had for what he did. We need one now, look at Jake Fromm with the Gaints. He is a winner.

10-Every team has several players who have gotten into trouble off the field. Nothing special there with the Cowboys. No one cares about Lawrence Taylor because they aren't looking for an excuse to hate the Giants. As usual, people conveniently forget that the sexual assault charge against Irvin was bogus.
9-The Cowboys accepted the Thanksgiving game way back when none of the other teams wanted it. It was seen as a pain in the butt. So the Cowboys took it, and when they were successful suddenly it was a big “advantage”. Of course those complaining about that never seem to notice that hasn't helped the Lions win anything all these years. But only a logical person would notice that part.
8-True the Cowboys get more media attention than they deserve. But that's because Cowboys fans are so die-hard they won't stop watching. The highest rated games each year typically feature the Cowboys. If Cowboys fans were like other fan bases who have a lot of bandwagon fans they would move to another team and the media would find something else to cover. If anyone thinks “loyal fans” is a compliment, then that's Cowboys fans.
7-No doubt that winning a lot causes a lot of fans to hate you. No getting around that one.
6-What makes the Cowboys cheerleaders so special? Because they invented the modern cheerleader squads. The Cowboys started dressing them differently than other teams with the shorts and boots and it started the whole thing we all enjoy today. I say they deserve extra attention for that and I thank them.
5-That makes zero sense. The Cowboys haven't won anyting for over 20 years and the fans are still with them. “Bandwagon” applies to a lot of teams, but Cowboys fans are the most stubbornly “loyal” group of them all. Try to imagine Patriots fans sticking with them through 20 years of losing.
4-How many fans would still hate them if they didn't win in the 90s? The same number as today apparently. If 20 years of losing doesn't reduce the hate, 30 years wouldn't either. Some forget that the Cowboys were the most hated team way back in the 70s so most of these reasons don't apply to that. This is generational hate. If Cowboys fans are called “bandwagon”...then the haters are too. They didn't start hating the Cowboys until they started winning....what a coincidence! But give them credit, the haters stick with it for no apparent reason.
3-Don't understand hating Romo. The guy is one of the biggest overachievers in NFL history. He was an undrated free agent. That means he wasn't even supposed to make an NFL roster...much less START....even mucher less have success as a starter. I mean...the guy has been trying to win with teams that Jerry Jones built...what do you expect him to do? We all saw how bad the team is without him last year when they almost went winless without him. He's literally been carrying the team on his back for years making them look better than they really are. The guys deserves pity...not hate.
