0:38 For all non German speakers, that's a bit of a mixup. Werner Dienstkrad is not a person. Werner is a cartoon character and the motorcycle shown is called "Satte-Liter-Schüssel", which is a wordplay on its big displacement of 1440cc and the German word for satellite bowl. The engine and the wheels came from a Deutz tractor, the gearbox was taken from a Harley Davidson. The rest is custom made, most notably the forks that were made from two solid pieces of ash wood. The fuel tank is part of the handlebar. Creator of this contraption is Andi Feldmann, brother of cartoonist Rötger "Brösel" Feldmann, who had previously designed the bike as his comic books' main character's "Dienstkrad" or "service motorcycle"
Andi Feldmann has his own YT channel "Andis Funktionspunk", where he builds more of these crazy bikes.
We used to call the old 500cc dirt bikes thumpers. This one is the new THUMPER.
New? Not sure. Thumper? Sure.
If he's German, I'm surprised he didn't just squash an old Lanz Buldog engine with all 4.8 litres in one cylinder into the frame!
Sounds like a business opportunity! :)
Isn't a Lanz Bulldog engine over 10.3L in capacity?
@@robertgreen9614 indeed! :)
Good idea!..5000cc single cylinder engine, air and oil cooled
@@fidelcatsro6948 kick starter, please!
It actually fired at every lamppost, very cool.
i want a thumper
*CB400SS & SR400 appears*
i said the real thumper
*DR800S also appears*
i said, *the real thumper*
*this bike appears*
Perfection
Was there a cb400 single. I remember the ft500. And a sr500 was more of a thumper than the 400. The dr800 proved to be know advantage over a 650 really.
I have a 1984 490 CC Yamaha thumper she's about a mover
That is crazy ! Vibration would rattle your fillings loose !
lol it looks like the bike bounces up and down with the piston stroke lol
Reminds me of the screening plant operating on top of a massive gravel conveyor at a former manufacturing business I once worked for. Contained a giant cross-shaft mounted eccentrically to cause a many-ton screening box to oscillate when aggregate was dumped into it, for the purpose of screening rock and gravel. When the massive electric motor started that thing to moving on giant coil springs, the mass equivalent to several semi truck tractors just about lept off the shop floor before it all got into a happy rhythm. hahaha
Vibrations that rattle your fillings loose was what I had on my 450cc Yamaha WR450 road legal dirtbike. This will just send shockwaves trough your body shaking loose your kidneys lol :)
Good alternative health therapy device against calcification of arteries and natural vibratory loosening of visceral fats built up on the liver!
@@fidelcatsro6948 Better food choices would be my first attempt. hahaha
I‘m sitting on the toilet right now and produced exactly the same sound as the motorcycle in the beginning of the video.
LMFAO
That only happens when i eat beans and my cheeks claps like a seal...
Oh! The humanity!!!...
Crapulent😮
TMI alert! 😂😂😂
⛽
I love the ridiculousness of builds like this one. It transforms into pure awesomeness as soon as you hear it go!
That kick starter can sure break bones!!
Maico, a small German company, makes a 500 cc single cylinder dirt bike. Hand made to order. I rode one in the early seventies and it was like riding a stick of dynamite.
Peak torque figure: yes.
An Australian named Lucky Kaiser made a 5000cc supercharged V-twin by cutting two cylinders off a Roll Royce Merlin.
There are YT videos featuring it.
I’ve seen and heard that bike! ❤
This is cool, especially given the age it was built in. Almost as mind-blowing as Allen Millyard's 5 liter V-twin motorcycle, that also is good looking, fully road worthy and usable.
The Flying Milliard is a 5 liter twin. Notable as well. Not a single, but a larger cylinder displacement.
Allen is genius and i love his vids
Allan's is a much better bike because it's so user friendly and is a glorious road bike having done thousands of miles.
Because of my background I became aware of the BISON somewhere between 4 and 6 years absolutely loved his ingenuity. Now I need to build a high revving 2300 CC 😬🙀
Always excellent at digging up incredibly interesting stories...
brings back memories of when I had a yamaha TT500 single cylinder motorcycle , it had all kinds of power.
They might be called thumpers, but, my 1980 Honda dual sport with a wiseco 10.5/1 piston has been clocked, with street gears, at 105 with off road tires. It even handles in the mountains. A very nice bike.
Chassis must be made of vibranium to absorb the vibration haha. What a great thing.
There is no replacement for displacement. Well done Sir. It sounds amazing. That sidecar could be used as a very large fuel tank.
That puppy must be torquey AF!
i would love to see a dyno curve of this engine
The Suzuki DR800S is a 779 cc single-cylinder dual-sport motorcycle made by Suzuki from 1990 to 1999.
Made more vibration than power. I think suzuki were just making a point with that bike.
Largest ever single cylinder in a production bike. With warranty and everything. Not the greatest bike ever built, but a milestone nonetheless.
Amezing information.......... Greetings from india🇮🇳🤠🤠🤩🤩🙌🤘🏻
Werners Dienstkrad isn't the real name of the bike with the wooden Fork. It's called the "Satteliterschüssel" what means something like "a good full Liter Pot"
I love the stats, written there is "single cylinder 4-stroke" probably could've done away the 4 stroke part, because I couldn't imagine a single cylinder 2,000 CC 2 stroke, oh man imagine what it would sound like with the right exhaust. back in the day I had a 440 Maico with some after market exhaust and did that thing ping. I used it to dig trenches for drainage pipes
The largest of the Lanz Bulldog (tractor) single cylinder two-stroke engines displaced 10.333 liters.
Legend has it Z Germans built a single piston Diesel engine that cranked out 2000 hp in the late 30s

"Now, I've field stripped a Pratt and Whitney 58 liter radial engine, but all I really needed were these 13/64s grub screws for my gear shift lever."
@0Sirk0 I love radial engines they are fascinating. Did you see the 5.7 litre V twin motorcycle made from 2 heads/ barrelsfrom a radial. The heads obviously don't come off the barrel. And heat is almost a problem you can't overcome.
@@chrishart8548
The flying Millyard? Of course
1:20 he ruined that cool old NSU 500 bike
Look at the size of the piston ,massive .
That is like One Cylinder from a Cummins 903 V-8 . And comparatively , makes TWICE the Power .
The bike is a 121 cubic inch. So Cummins 903 is around a 16 litre engine
@@chrishart8548 . Correct .
I hope the oil pump can maintain adequate pressure at that low speed.
he should fit an extra battery powered fish aquarium pump motor to supply extra oil to the heads
Suzuki Savage, 42000 miles.
guys on bigget bikes would lead.
In the hilly, twisty roads there bikes were on the road. Friend said I was 3 or 4 ft in the air. Motor didnt overrev.
sometimes the road started to turn before I touched down so I slowed down. Always compliment owners.
mine wasca birthday present.
2018 FLDE now
Now THAT'S a THUMPER!
There are thumpers and then is *the* thumper. I would love to see this thing hooked up to a engine dyno.
The flying Millyard although a V twin has a larger 2.5 litre cylinder capacity
This makes me miss my GoPed!
146mm x 118mm? That must make this one of the most oversquare engines ever.
I'd like to see him kick start it. Even with a compression release it would be a hand (foot) full !
You can see the torque
This would make a nice boxer twin. 4l dynamically balanced with roller bearings. Really too big for a motorcycle, but a trike would carry it nicely. Maybe make a modest 200hp.
Did I miss this information in the video? When was this crazy machine built? The clips look like 70s or 80s?
80hp? Never ever! :-)) Maybe 20. But surely more torque then you need.
It would be a lot of torque and horsepower is just torque X rpm. It's more like theoretical horsepower than anything else.
That would be virtually impossible to kickstart, wouldn't it? I mean, a hot shovelhead or 500 2-stroke is gnarly enough!
It probably has a decompressor.
@@mikefule I think it would have to, but still...
@@mikefule Compression ratio is only 4.25: 1, doesn’t need a decompressor. LOL!
@@Oldmane-420 Haha! I hadn't spotted how low the compression ratio was. I was just thinking a big ol' engine like that probably needed a decompressor. A friend of mine has a 350 cc Velocette and the process for starting that (including a decompressor) is like an arcane ritual.
Merci !
The person with a Viper V10 in his bike, Allen Millyard built one and it's an 8 liter 2 wheel 🙂motorcycle with many specialities.
But also way smaller pistons, 40% only.
Nice one, thanks! 👍💪✌
Allen’s “Flying Millyard” is a 5L V-twin.
@@LongPeter that one exists as well, he's made some very motorcycles.
You don’t need a rev counter with that bike as you can just count them 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Thumpers deserve more love
❤❤❤ very interesting video thanks
2:20 why is the piston so tall and thick? over 3 lbs it could be lighter and also the compression is very very low at 4.2 to 1 WOW so the cranking psi must be around 60psi or 80psi unless you use a small ring gap thats basicaly barley enough to run forget about it running well i guess hmmm! 80 hp??? prob not
4.25:1 - is that the compression ratio? Its very very low
I've always wanted to have a bike to pull a car trailer 🤣🤔
New teeth after every ride. Vibrations make dentists rich
Speaking of NSU: Wasn't there a 4-cyl bike with the air cooled engine of the Priny-4 as well?
Yep, the Münch Mammut. Plenty to be seen on youtube.
Who is the German that makes the 260 cube V twin ?
2.0ltr single BIG BORE THUMPER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The Fiat S76 was four cylinder 28.353cc HUGE pistons!!!!
There had to have been schnapps involved, as well as a monster ego!
Kicks like a Bison!
Harley People are Jealous ! lol
There was a guy built a motorcycle using 2 cylinders off a Rolls Royce Merlin engine.
Sod kicking that over when it kicks back for a lark, you`d go into orbit!
2:18 piston segede itu bisa gak ya dipnpkan ke Icikiwir🤔😅
Had a Yamaha XT500 single. If you didn't have the piston and compression release in the right position during startup, it would put you over the handlebars.😄
What a stupid idea: the most unbalanced engine in the world with very low power!
Jeez kickstart, imagine the kick back
It's like an old hit and miss tractor...
Imagine that connecting rod spinnig freely around after a catatrophic engine failiure. Might be a hefty kick in the butt at, lets say 3500 revs.
3500rpm is a bit optimistic, it's probably closer to 350rpm
The fact that the rpm and torque numbers aren't available tells me that it doesn't make 80hp .
You've heard of the MOAB (mother of all bombs) well, this is the MOAT (mother of all thumpers)
Why 1 cylinder at 2 liters ?
why not
It's more of a "why not?"
Now that's a thumper
Next will it be a GIANT diesel single motor?
MAX RPM: 14
MAX Torque: Yes
If Alan Milyard sees this he will beat it.
Build one in an afternoon
He tends to add cylinders, rather than subtract them . . . .
@@greggarnham8497 true
10 hp, 300 Newton meters of torque.
4,25:1 that even burns?
When was the cc of an engine around the crankshaft area? Ha ha
Thanks again :-)
Most impressive. Not 2000cc, nothing to do with power. Not blowing the top straight off the bottom within a few hiursnof running. That seems difficult. Where was the space for 14 base gasket studs found? How hasnt this removed so.much material the failure point of the 500 cases is not just transfered to slightly lower than barrel securing thread depth. How long it all lasts is another thing, fair play for getting it to run. Long live silly projects.
My 400cc...with my only cylinder but 2000cc?!
The og 2000 cc David Putra
That is wild! I have a Harley that is 1966.43cc, and it even runs a rides like most other bikes....only a lot faster!
If it's a Harley it is not faster

Siure Ithougjt that. This a real beast. I ride sport bikes. This thing makes them feel slow. But better. It is a fucking beast. No shit. It will pull your gloves off and you have to get back on the seat after a little throttle

You'd need to be built like a bison to kick start this damn thing ! 🙄😅
German engineers are so extra 🤣🏍️
It compares with a steam engine……
It compacts the road on it's way 😂
That thing probably has enough torque to pull a truck comfortably
Shout out to Mahle.
I hope it has electric starter
4.25:1
Old school 🤣
Lovely
Your mind isn't the only thing that this bike will blow. It will probably shake the fillings out of your teeth. This bike is probably downright painful to ride. A bison is going to be a lot easier to get along with
I prefer not to have my mind blown.
My guess would be a max rpm of around about 1200.
I doubt if its even that. It only fires once at each lamppost
@@chrishart8548 Once every second lamp post like a Panther sloper.
Total madness the wider the diameter of the piston the less efficient the cooling . Also it must vibrate like a jackhammer , the crock is just not a practicable proposition .
Honda Aist better! Or Honda Casper. Also homemade folding and micro trimmerbikes.
Don't tell him about the Bulldog. Just : don't.
He should have turbo charged it
