Triumph 750 twin transmission modification - Gladstone No1
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 17 апр 2021
- In this video I have a look at the transmission on a Gladstone No1 that is fitted with a late 70,s Triumph TR7 twin cylinder engine. The overall gear ratio needed to be higher to fully utilise the torque of then engine for a relaxed cruising speed of 60 mph. Thank you to all those who have liked and subscribed to my channel, it's amazing to read all the comments that you post.
Official Gladstone Motorcycles merch is available to purchase at www.gladstonemotorcycles.com Авто/Мото
I've trawled the internet for hours and this is the only channel that contains education on cutting edge mechanics, baking and wildlife seamlessly rolled into one and makes absolute sense!
I often put up videos with dodgy engineering and thai cooking classes in the middle.... and beligerant cats.
I concur, Allen’s Chauffuer, J Bruce Hollywood North.
The woman behind the man...
I am well pleased with this comment.
"That's ok honey , I know the cupcakes are still a little hot, let me take them out to the garden for you so they can cool down". Mission accomplished .
The sound of a Triumph twin on full chat is hard to beat.
You ain't heard my wife on full chat!
Except maybe by a Triumph triple?
Air cooled Italian three-step anyone? : )
That and the sound of a Kenwood food mixer making cup cakes LOL
"Full Chat" 👍👍👍
Cup cakes, hedgehogs and motorbikes , what a perfect Sunday morning treat!
I have to say your videos are so well shot and edited and the content is always nothing less than fascinating.
Thanks
@@AllenMillyard where did you get the sprocket made?
I maybe need some sprockets made and possibly gears, do they do gears too? J
Beautyfull bike but not a fan of the hardtail. I used to have a stock T140 but sold it to buy a big Harley. Later i bought back a T120 also single carb. It had been stored for years. Think i have to rebuild it to run on unleaded fuel. But your video made me want to ride it today
Hang on a minute. What’s this I hear from Alan’s lips? “I got one made locally” oh dear, we’re on a slippery slope here 😂😂
Exactly what I tought LOL
Chocking 😳😅
Oh dear I will try harder in the future
@@AllenMillyard Hi Allen who made your sprocket please
Give the man a break hes busy upping cup cake production at the moment . Still waiting on the RC 374 to be done
The part about the hedgehog feeder was pure genius, it certainly kept Greta quiet.
Ultimate backyard mechanic doesn't quite describe this guy. He's on a completely different level.
finally a baking program that keeps me interested thank you Mr Millyard
I'm in Australia and when I heard it fire up I thought "Allen's at it again "
Lucily Greta is in Canada filming a tv series
@@AllenMillyard I hope it's started an avalanche. :-)
@@AllenMillyard So are you having to keep an eye on her, or her on you?
Norway here. I thought there was an earthquake at first...
They heard it on the space station!
I love the way Mr "have some more cylinders" gets so excited about cupcakes.
Mr. Millyard does his milling in his yard. Was ever a name more appropriate? Thank you sir. Always a Zen experience watching you torque.
Punmeister 🍻
Another gem from Alan with the added bonus of hedgehogs, cup cakes and our friend Henry. Thanks a lot and keep safe.
I love how everything is explained in a calm & relaxing voice, that's therapy in action.
Great channel!
The dislikes are from those who can't bake cup 🍰 cakes 🤣🤣🤣
The dislikes are those who are cupcakes.
Or dislikes hedgehogs, because they are "dangerous"?
and vegans, (eggs in the cupcakes)
Nope, I'm a Vegan and I liked it. I wonder if he makes vegan and gf cupcakes though........
This Triumph is Gorgeous.
Cant go wrong with cupcakes , tea , and a cute lil hedgehog!
Without a doubt the best Triumph transmission/cupcake recipe/wildlife information video I have ever seen in my life.
The talent used in this video is fast disappearing from our skill sets, watch this and learn from a master, the smile on the owners face says it all, great video 👍👍👍👍👍👍
He is just the sort of bloke you would like to go for a drink with.
A Gladstone from Guy, a triumph engine with a trumpet hedgehogs and a quick demo of cupcakes. Allen, you are living the dream.
Henry looks like a proud daddy, he is lucky to have friends like you. Excellent video as always.
He needs friends like Allen, Sam & Guy cause he's fuckin useless on his own.
@@stevepalmer5670 agreed, Henry reminds me of that Colin Hunt character from The Fast Show ...
Fantastic bike, beautiful engineering. It's my greatest hope that we keep building and maintaining these wonderful machines long after electrification has taken over.
Probably the only 16 year old able to admire Allens work as nothing but breathtaking
Brilliant
Dont flatter yourself. You are not that unique nor smart.
@@vulekv93 what are you on about who,s not unique nor smart ,elaborate cheers Vule
I need to move next door. “Mmm Allen, have you got a minute.. or two” We should all have a local engineering genius on hand that we can pay with cup cakes... 😁
THIS Dude is the Rockstar of Motorcycles.
I loved Triumph motorcycles I just couldn't locate tools that fit it mine.
Amal carburetors were great.
Great job welding the Aluminum.
My god what a glorious sound. Good old Triumph.
Ahh, yet another wonderful upload from Allen. What a modest man he is. All trousers and no mouth! Haha. Thank you Allen
When this started with "I need to improve........ " my first thought was 'Henry's not going to like this'. Luckily he loved the transformation. Phew!
Apparently all those decades I was learning how to and working on motorsickles I missed the " you hafta break a few eggs " part which esplains why Alan is so good and I'm just pretty good...😁
Lovely. Some 15 yrs ago I bought a Twin 750 Kawa - 82. The gearing was close. I spent a month running gear ratios and came to 29 rear and the standard front. I dropped the rpm's by 3000 at highway speeds. Nice take on the TR7.
Tall gearing makes for a relaxed cruise, with 5th gear like an over drive 😎
I came to learn about motorcycles, learned how to make muffins. it's a great day.
🙈
Thats funny because I make muffins right now while I watch mechanic-vids
Your videos have become a family affair in my household - it's so nice to share my passion with with my family, through your perspective. 😊
Follow up: my partner shut herself away in the kitchen to make scones after watching this. She doesn't normally bake - the scones were disappointing.
Best motorbike DIY and cupcake channel on RUclips
Oh, that sound, that sound -
Such memories are unbound...!
(Wonderful. Thank You, Sir.)
I feel like its classic allen to be like "yep, so I took this part off of my 50+ year old massive high precision floor lathe and now I'm gonna take it and cut a slot in it with a zip disk in a vice i'm holding with my feet on the ground of the back garden"
Always a pleasure to watch this machine, I mean man, at work
And oh for that feel of tightening a bolt or nut with that “mill yard patented torque wrench forearm” 👌
Not many folks get the importance of a correct primary drive ratio. Thanks for sharing Allen
Casual cupcake instructional in the middle. Great stuff.
I think Tracey should have her own baking channel. Her ISP could be occasional Engineering moments.
To hear a tool maker describe the design and engineering of a cupcake is pure poetry; and whets the appetite as well. BTW nice bike.
A souped up Trumpy, some hedgehogs, and some cupcakes. How good is this video?
Allen, you are a marvelous man, never stop being you.
Oh Allen you have a very hypnotic voice. Love your videos 😎
After watching Allen’s videos do you ever feel like your a mere mortal and Allen is the equivalent of Yoda?
Anyone who has taken a metal shop class and a mechanics class in high school can do this. The difference between Allen and everyone else is that he DOES it while everyone else is watching RUclips
Mechanical poetry watching you at the lathe. Pure genius.
Ladies and gentlemen, the Bob Ross of motorcycle maintenance narration, right here. So relaxing, so concise, and... oh look, there's a hedgehog nomming a cupcake.
(Shh! no one let it slip that he's an absolute wizard when it comes to motorcycles.)
Brilliant!
Great job Allen, I have a couple of riding buds that changed their Harley primary sprockets up one or two teeth and they claimed amazing fuel economy with a little stretch in first gear. I think that would work on my ride, as I increased the power now I feel a need for slightly taller gears. Enjoyed very much , cheers and thanks for the tutorial on the cupcakes!
How can people dislike this video it was one of the most informative and inspirational videos!! I absolutely loved every minute of it you have such great knowledge on a dying craft! Keep up the amazing videos I look forward to whatever project you are inspired to do next!! Showing love from Pennsylvania USA be safe!!
You have the gift of seeing elegant solutions to problems. My ears pricked up when you casually mentioned having a sprocket made up locally. I'd love to know where as I'm struggling to find one for my 1929 AJS.
The best "working on a motorcycle" video I've watched yet!! 👍
Good show today Allen, thank you...
Very nicely done Allen, there can’t be anyone else that would even attempt changing the sprocket and moving the mountings for the alternator !
Thanks for sharing.
p.s. the tiling is coming along nicely !
No phone call but the cupcakes looked lovely. Oh and that bike was ok as well haha. As always Allen a lovely job.
Bikes, cupcakes and hedgehogs all my favourites in one video, the millyards know how to please!
That's the secret, a shot of ZX1 extra lube in the tea. The sound of all that Triumph twin is making me come over all funny.
Some of the best clips on You Tube! Brilliant, informative, entertaining. Beautiful filming as well. A pleasure to watch, thank you.
Allen, your can-do attitude is something to behold.
What an excellent educator you are. I'm over here across the pond where everything is all hurried up all the time. You go into great detail with such a calm demeanor. Your voice allows for my brain to relax and imagine the build/repair. GOD bless you brother. When I get all four of my chains aligned and get things to stop breaking. I'll attempt to post a video of building my trike. I've been working on forever. It's a Schwinn Stingray OCC fat tire/ Headstrom double drive axle 24" trike. With 20"×4 1/2" fat tires and a 2stroke gas engine.
I just watched this episode for the second time. What a beautiful machine. Mr. Milliard you continue to be an inspiration to me, I am fascinated by your knowledge and always blown away by your work! Wow!
Allen, your video production quality is fabulous! Shots from so many angles on the ride, great sound, great clarity. Your narration is also terrific. Just wanted to let you know.
Loved the side bits about cupcake making and hedgehog feeding! The whole video put a smile on my face from beginning to end. :-)
BTW--What a cool bike!!
Thanks David im glad you enjoyed it
What a wonderful idea that is totally our of the ability of most humans. Allen, you are a bike tinker's dream. I watched this and realized how much I miss my old Triumphs. The last 650 I had, a 69 Bonnie I had modified with a Bob Chantland aluminum barrelled 750 kit. Wow, with "R" cams. it would run 125, and pull the front end up in second gear. What a bike!
What a joy to see a thinking craftsman at work
What a truly beautiful machine! Is it one of your favorites? The taller gearing has to be just what it was needing. Your unique understanding of the way machines are built and operate is just completely amazing! Thank you so much for your time and videos.
Great work as always Allen and the classic Bucklebury straight test ride! Don't upset the Middletons and Chris Tarrant with the noise! 😂😂 Now Motogp happy days! 👍
Yes I often pass by on my bikes
I had a near duplicate to that bike that I was forced to sell due to obligations associated with having 3 kids in 3 years🤣. I miss it so very much and still have vivid dreams of riding the bike all around when I was a young man. Now I’m an old man but if given the opportunity to find my old bike I would buy it.
I long for the fun and lack of stress I felt with my Triumph. Great job as usual ✌🏻🇺🇸
That Gladstone is poetry , beautiful sound , looks like a dream . Now go out there and ride the wheels off it 👍🇬🇧
Beautiful Bike sounds great too.
We need Tracey to start a RUclips cupcake channel and mail order service for those delicious looking cakes X50
She doesnt deliver to Sweden though
The mark of master is making everything look easy.
Your work inspired me to join 2 Harley Davidson 121" engines together, for a 241" "V" 4 engine.
It's still needs some work but it pulls like wild horses .
Keep on going!
A fan in America.

Allen, I struggle to open a tin of corned beef with the stupid key on the side of the tin, the work you do is superb. Since watching your videos however I have started home baking, I know my limitations !
Just perfect.... like every vid you've ever posted. 🇦🇺👍🇦🇺👌🇦🇺👍🇦🇺👌
Thanks 😊
@@AllenMillyard more than welcome. You sir, are an engineering wizard.
So next thing to do : A motorcycle engined food processor , think of the amount of cup cakes you could make then , you could go into business with Tracy , I can see it all now .......Mr Millyards exceedingly well engineered cakes LOL
Allen, if we were neighbors, I would be your biggest pest.
Thanks for the FACINATING videos!
Watching any master at work is a delight, great engineering Allen.
Hi Allen, fantastic machine, glad to see the "foot/garden" vice and workbench back in action mate. Pleasure to watch you modify the gearing, machining and cup cakes.. perfect shed day..!! Surprised the phone was silent regarding the exhaust pipe noise lol, great video as always, brightened up my Sunday morning for sure. Look forward to the next one. Cheers, Alex.
No international call this week it was unplugged for kitchen renovations 🙈
@@AllenMillyard
Ah..kitchen renovations.. cupcake production area.. vitally important, now I understand why the phone is unplugged..!! Cheers, Alex.
Oh! So that's how cupcakes are made!
Lol April Fool! Everyone knows cupcakes are grown. This is clearly just a reversal of the old spaghetti tree gag. Stroke of genius not publishing this vid on the 1st though, keeps everyone guessing! Pure class.
It's nice to see a british Gentleman and his careful work - and then he rides fast like Mike Hailwood. Greetings from Austria!
If I lived next door to you allen. you would soon be fed up with me, constant questions. I am more than interested in all your doings. Fantastic. Briddy UK.
This Man is like the Dalai-Lama for Motorcycles and tasty Muffins 👍🏻😊
I love it how you cut that thread in over your tea lol. Who made that sprocket for you looks fab
I thought he was cutting a thread over coffee. Obviously I need to get up to speed!
I was shocked to see you farm the sprocket job out. Thought you'd cut the tooth profiles out by hand with a round file stored in your Swiss army knife.😂
Delighted to see Charlie's elbow still works and not a drop spilt betwixt cup and lip.
magic watching a master at work then a nice roast for miday snack then the f1 this afternoon
great vid! does anything ever NOT fit perfectly? 😂
Only the stuff straight from the manufacturer.
So that's Henry's bike? Lovely looking (and sounding) machine it is too.
It’s the first one of 10 made
Is it just me or does any one else feel engineeringly inadequate watching his vids. Makes everything look so easy.
I love the way that everything he works on turns out just puurrrfect. He really sounds like he enjoys his projects.
Think you better fab up some hearing aids for the hedgehogs 😁
Ever gotten carb cleaner in your eye? Everyone's done it 😜
Oh man carb brakeklean you name it. Its no fun. Atf is bad too even just on your skin.
I did it the other day, note to self...use faceshield next time!
Gotten ?
Swarf in your tea is far worse 😞😩
@@stevemarshall5197 apologies 🙏😅
Back in the day I upped the primary sprocket on my 2 stroke Suzuki Titan 500cc road bike. I put a different set of exhaust expansion chambers on the bike as well. It all helped with better highway speeds and fuel economy. I wish I still had that 1976 model. I do have and ride my 1975 Kawasaki Z1 900. It's a fabulous bike with 140,000 miles. It's seen a fair amount of maintenance but runs strong.
Allen has the happy knack of making his videos very interesting and enjoyable to watch.
Perfect. When you tighten things like crankshaft nuts , and clutches etc , if you make a click click sound with your mouth you will find it just makes things even more betterer ,,, the sort of click click you make to giddy up a small pony ... just a thought that may help in some future projects . : )
Cooking, hedgehog crap and motorcycle mods in the same channel, pretty eclectic a mix of stuff!
That’s right Allen, don’t mess around with freshly baked cup cakes - you could hurt yourself! Yay Tracy - it looks like both you and Allen exhibit a seat-o’-the-pants yet attentive-to-detail type of craftsmanship!
I wonder how much swarf you had with your tea Allen? Thank you Tracy for letting us all in on your culinary secrets for keeping Allen a happy man.
omg hedgehogs! theyre so rare these days unfortunately
That’s why we encourage them into the garden and feed them 🦔
@@AllenMillyard yeah, i wouldnt encourage them to come where i live, theyd have to run the gauntlet of dozens of cats
My daughter has put a hedgehog house in her garden and it's lovely to see them, especially when they have babies
Allen if you were an automobile engineering teacher, i bet there would be a class room of kids all listening !
He’s the original “Nutty Professor” ! An absolute genius.
I try to watch all of your projects as I thoroughly enjoy them, but I must say that I found this one both genius and very witty...the Cup Cakes are a really nice touch mate☘🕶👍🏍💥💨
From what I've seen so far this is my favorite. It would suit me down to the ground, and every street in my town! Lovely Allan. Perfect!
Ya gotta luv dem old THUMPERS!!! I know I always will. Outstanding build!!!
Your videos are most entertaining and definitely educational. Charlie weaver does a good job as a supporting actor. I can smell those cupcakes coming out of the oven, your wife does a tremendous job. Between Charlie, the Birdies and the hedgehogs your videos contain a complete package. Thank you so much for all your hard work!
Thank you John 🙂
Allen makes everything look simple, and does not even knock his tea mug off the bench.
