  • On February 2, 2020, two-time Olympic champion Mikaela Shiffrin's world stopped turning when her dear father, Jeff Shiffrin, unexpectedly and tragically passed away. Shortly thereafter, the entire world came to a halt when COVID-19 swept the globe.
    With challenges, come opportunities.
In response to the COVID-19 crisis and setbacks it has created for our sports, a group of generous donors (six families) has stepped up and offered to match, dollar for dollar, every single contribution raised up to $1.5 million to enable athletes across all sports to continue to keep the ship sailing smoothly, allowing camps to run as planned, so athletes can maintain their competitive edge if there is a second wave of this virus.
In creating the "Jeff Shiffrin Athlete Resiliency Fund," the Shiffrin family, coupled with these generous donors, wanted to both honor Jeff Shiffrin's legacy, as well as contribute to the ongoing pursuit of excellence for all athletes across all sports. Better days are still ahead of us, and the thrill and challenge of our athletes' Olympic dreams are worth fighting for.
Join us in helping to fuel these dreams, and keep the flame alive as we head into Beijing 2022.

She needed a hug and a shoulder to cry onto :(. It hurts to watch somebody go through that.

Your Dad will always be with you where ever you go in life, As a young lady, you have given him the greatest joy any man could have asked for. He was so proud of everything you have done. You could see it in his face. I am so sorry for your loss. Make him and your Mom proud.

Sat here as a grown ass man crying. What heart felt video - if you read these comments Mikaela, I hope you are able to reconcile your feelings and are able to come to terms with celebrating your dads passion for skiing with you having fun! Sounds like the two things are one and the same. When you're ready it'll feel right and you will be unstoppable.

Mikaela - Both the Resiliency Fund and this video are wonderful tributes to your Dad. The best tributes are those his life affected - you, your brother, your Mom, his fellow medical professionals, and everyone his positive outlook touched. Healing from such losses is an ongoing process, I know. I lost my best friend 20 years ago and I still miss him almost every day. But his smile and his laugh still bring me a certain joy that carries me through the "missing" times. Life isn't the same but it goes on, and it can still be good. Looking forward to seeing you carry forward your Dad's legacy as well as your own.

Thank you for sharing such a personal, loving and moving tribute to your Dad, and how he taught you so much, including resiliency, by his example and support. I admire you for finding it within yourself to finish the season with your Mom by your side, who I’m sure is just as remarkable as your Dad. You are such a gifted athlete, and now you know you possess the inner as well as the outer strength to continue on. I’ll be cheering for you in 2022!

I imagine how Mika is such a huge inspiration for young generations, It is for me as well, every single day we try to push limits and check muscles in order to feel like super human holding super powers and ...like a miracle, someone up there rewards us, giving us such an unexpected strength that we feel like..a miracle on earth indeed. Hoping Mika will never lose passion for having fun performing and entertain us some more because sports are beautiful beyond age or first place or no matter what other place, it's so much fun sharing this amazing experience of life, fans need you guys Ok?
