This is one of your most helpful videos and there for one of my favourites
Thank you, most important training and particularly the point of multiple shots to increase steadyness to shot when hunting and trialing.
This is a great vid. Soooo important to get this correct.
Thank you - these videos are so helpful. 💙
Nice little video!!!
Outstanding work with Billy. Me and my 8 month old springer have hired a field tm for training. We are about 2 months being you but we will be on it! And keep at it! Thanks. You’re the best around for spaniels
Thank you hope my videos are helping ☺️🐾
Excellent video Chris...👍👍
Thank you ☺️🐾
Could you share where
you get that small starter gun?
Mines an old one but you can just google they are normally around £100 for a good one
Just google it and you will see them online or a local hunting store has them.
Such an important video to get right. Bang on 💥 😉
Fingers crossed this will end up being the go-to video to follow on RUclips.
Thanks Chris. This was very helping. 👍
How do you keep the dog facing you when doing back/ side retrieves. My dog keeps turning as I throw the dummy, rather than facing me…
Have look at some of my basics videos on my page 🐾☺️
What I have been doing is waiting for him to look at me before I throw the dummy. You need to be consistent and watching your dog. As you go to throw the dummy if they even start to take their eyes off you, don't throw it. Give a "watch" command or whatever you are using. And start again. And if they turn, straighten them back up. My dog is 8 months now and is getting better every day. Just be consistent and patient every time and they will start to give you the behavior you are looking for.
Very nice!!
Very important to get this right - I have been around many gun shy dogs and the problem is hard to break once it has become established. The little starting pistol is great; where do you source those? Adding the gunshot as an element into an activity that the dog is already enjoying and engaged with seems like a major key in the process.👍 if the dog does appear bothered by the first few shots there are elasticated headbands which go around the dogs head and firmly hold the ear leathers over the ear canal. Groomers use them to acclimatize dogs to the noise of a forced air dryer (which is considerable). Chris, how much does removing the shot pellets from a shotgun cartridge reduce noise?
If the gunshot is gradually introduced, in the correct way, most dogs never have a problem, it's when the routine isn't associated with something good and done, too quickly and too closely
