Why have a hull? Strip it all back to bare-bones. Needed is width for stays (beam and length), something that floats everything, crew space and foils with mechanisms and electronics.
I was surprised how easily it capsized. Not really a robust design. Cool looking, potentially fast (when it's not upside down), and not all that stable. Wonder what the 2.0 version will look like? I assume they'll move to a front rudder design to keep plane similar to the ice foils / sailrocket?
I was there in 1983 when the Australia won it, There were two key things that happened one the Aussie keel was a like a upside down Y witch gave them and advantage. I know this because the curtain fell when I was standing there at there vessel and they begged me not to say anything of course I got some gifts from them to to keep my mouth shut. the other was Conner tac and gave them the advantage with this keel and they won I was so pissed at Conner.
This looks so crazy, and in this field there is actual progress, we can say 2023 is real. Sadly other fields are lagging behind in terms of progress or quite the opposite are showing signs of regrress, going back to a darker era in society, when there were less smart people on the planet.
Battery powered foils? I thought only human power was allowed, but maybe foils aren't included even though they contribute to lateral as well as vertical lift. Convenient. Oddly enough there's a connection to SailRocket here as SailRocket used an asymmetrical foil to provide lateral resistance and lift, albeit negative lift. Two asymmetrical foils for lateral resistance are far more efficient than a single symmetrical foil so in addition to providing lift these "T" foil appendages should provide less drag for for a given horizontal lift, not to mention righting moment. Suddenly they make sense to me.

When I discovered this design in 2017 my first thought was will the Foils canting moment be enough to keep the boat from heeling over too far and capsize. My second thought was will the Foils from each competitor get tangled up during the dial down .
On the energy side I say there must be great potential for magnetohydrodynamic power generation. I tried to raise this with Peter Burling, he read my post.
Over 50 Knots? Unlikely - cavitation sets in for the foil. He does not know that yet, because he has never been on a foiling boat that goes over 50kts. Foil relies on laminar flow. When cavitation breaks that up, there will not be any more lift. Foil goes super cavitation after that - and a different foil design is needed. They need to be careful. Cavitation sets in at around 55 kts actually. How do I know? I've been there on powered foil boats that got close to that speed.
Cavitation shouldn't keep the foil from working but it will make it less efficient. It isn't like the hull will slam back down into the water the moment the foils start to cavitate. Why wouldn't an AC75 be able to exceed 50 knots when Hydroptère has already done that. I don't know what the static displacement of Hydroptère is but it looks like it is heavier than an AC75 which means smaller foils with a thinner cross section that would be less prone to cavitation.
For 2 years now, your question has been answered. And: Like with aeroplanes and their wings, the shape and cross section of the foils define the speeds that are possible. Saying they can't go beyond 50 knots is like saying airplanes can't go up to sound barrier and faster. They did. Hydrodynamics and aerodynamics aren't so much different. It's the physical key figures that alter and engineering has to adapt.

Some background- All of the previous AC participants except TNZ had agreed, the next cup would be similar to the previous -foiling cats, a sparing series in participating countries, lower cost of participation, no power sources besides crew and wind. TNZ made sure that NONE OF THESE PARTICIPANTS COULD HAVE A SAY BY CONSPIRING TO CHOSE THEIR OWN CHALLENGER OF RECORD! Looking odd is the least of the problems. They have taken the cup and sealed it away in Kangaroo court competition. Who will want to spend a billion dollars developing a boat and crew that has no relevance to useful sailing, for one weeks competition on the other side of the world? The last AC had a dozen participants lined up from around the world for this cup. Now TNZ unveils their plan to make it their own little anglophile party.
Yep end of the AC and this new setup was pushed by the NZ and Luna monohull snobs. They just can't let go of monohulls all to the detriment of the AC and all those that wanted to compete at a more reasonable price, which the next cup would have been attainable if Oracle had won. Now it's gone to the nutty NZlanders. I highly recommend we all move to the Extreme Racing Series (32 ft foiling cats) and to the SuperFoiler Grand Prix (26 ft. foiling tris), and the soon to be developed UFO foiler (10 ft foiling hard deck cat for solo sailors). We got the boats and the excitement, so screw NZ and Luna. What the two past AC's did was get the cat out of the bad that foiling multihulls are where it is at and the future. Sorry your off as the SuperFoiler is an amazing move forward in foiling boat technology. Its already reported that the SuperFoiler Grand Prix is heading to be an international circuit. With the AC now a joke with their joke of a new boat, they will be luckily to have more than two teams competing. So thank you NZ for killing the AC. But no matter we have the Extreme Sailing Series and now the SuperFoiler Grand Prix. And I might add the UFO foiler is developing to one day soon surpass the Moth in popularity. So foiling multihull racing is alive and well, no need for the AC anymore. NZ just needs to go back to their old 12 meters and stop embarrassing themselves with new new monotri joke. Still it will be interesting when the two and only two NZ monotris get tangled up on that big foil hanging off the side of the boat.
What is your point about a team finished 2 km ahead, in other races they finish almost at the same time. And the point about 5 boats racing? This is the first time this newly designed boat is being raced, and raced I might add by some of the greatest sailors on the planet, who all agree the boat is amazing and the formula 1 of sailboats. So let's see I either agree with Jordi that the boat is a bad design, or take the world top sailors and designers that it is not. I will go with the later. Mark my word this SuperFoiler Grand Prix is going to get big and become one of the biggest racing series in the world.
Luna Rossa was a challenger way before all the other teams that competed during the last AC. In fact they were going to compete when they pulled out due to Oracle changing the class of boat. Initially the last America's Cup was to be raced by huge foiling Catamarans again just like in San Fran... due to their large costs only a few teams signed up, being Luna Rossa and TNZ the main challengers... after 1 year or so Oracle reduced the size of boats and this is when Luna Rossa pulled out as they said that they spent a lot of money developing a boat that now changed the class. Then some of Luna Rossa joined TNZ to fight for the cup, Oracle had a much larger budget than any team and wasted Luna Rossa's and TNZ money by changing the class.... Then new teams joined, where such teams as Japan were aided by Oracle financially, TNZ was a lone wolf and often did not agree. But why should they? Why should you agree to being restricted to a class that you don't want to race? THe america's Cup has always been about the winner deciding the Class rules and location... so why should you agree to restricting to a class when you believe you can win? which they have... Luna Rossa and TNZ had always had a good relationship, and that is usually how it works. The challenger of record is someone close to the defender... same as Oracle with Artemis... By the way if you think that TNZ has a large budget you are dead wrong... so I doubt that a class that is expensive benefits them. BAR right now is by far the richest.

The AC75 looks awful, requires motors and batteries to make sail?!?, and for 4/5ths of the crew ranges somewhere from boring and uncomfortable, to downright nightmarishly painful to sail. Would be nice to see an Americas Cup class that normal sailors could actually relate to. Its getting to far away from the sports roots. Whats next? bow mounted rocket motors to blow an artificial wind in the lulls. No more hydraulic cranks, bring back manual sail controls, no more rigid body sails, and no more canting keels, movable foils or anything else that is too hungry to run off muscle power alone. High aspect Bermuda Rig is soooooo stale. Gaff rig ketch or yawl with the full complement of sails would be quite the spectacle. Would be amazing too see what todays designers could coax out of these older rigging plans with modern materials and aerodynamics.
Boats should be in the water .... that is what boats do. Just because you can make the whole hull fly, does not mean you should. It is like turning Formula One into a drone race.

I'm so baffled by the weight of the side hydrofoils. They look so thin! How do they weigh as much as a rav4??

The boats are hitting 40 to 50 mph in racing. 3 to 4 times wind speed on occasion.
50 mph is about 43 knots .
I feel the boats should be a bit bigger than the 75-foot class, to be truly AC worthy.

All foils should be disqualified they are not sailboats, they are sailplanes, they ruined the sport.
