That herald trumpet and trombone feature was bloody amazing!! I went there with a couple friends from Spartans and we were all just blown away.
I know dude! I played with the PCC Rose Parade Herald Trumpets and it makes me a little biased...but this is already turning out to be my favorite show so far!
Musically, this has everything and more to make it into the top 3. The show design and concept is just so tasty. If feet, guard, and drums keep pace, this is going to be one of the best years in Boston Crusaders history.

Boston has gone from a middle/back of the pack corps to a legitimate contender for the title in only a few years.
That was part of their plan in taking Crown's visual team and Cadets brass and some of their percussion staff. They put together the team they feel can give them a title.

It’s from the Rocky films not Avengers.
I saw this performance live. With all respect to the videographer, the recording only give you a small taste of their powerful performance. You must see their show live to fully appreciate it. I said to my friends at the performance that judging has to be subjective as there cannot be anyone with a better sound than what I heard from the Boston Crusaders horn line. They will do well this season. Other Corps maybe as good but none can be better than what I heard at this show.
Bernie Costigan Thats EXACTLY what I felt like after seeing Vanguard last year for the first time. And early season. I KNEW after that one performance no one would be able to top it... and yep, should’ve gambled money on it.
The brass sounds amazing, but there absolutely will be competition and other hornlines that sound just as good. SCV comes to mind, they were consistently amazing all last year.
That being said, props to Boston, they've been making a lot of strides the past few years.

This show is going to be top 3 I can feel it, it’s got the story and just the jaw dropping music to accompany it. I know nothing else has really come out this year for much other corps but this just feels like the one you will remember once you see it in person.

Imagine driving to work someday and you just happen to drive right past the Boston Crusaders.
I saw Boston at their Florida camp and... my god.
Oh sure, they were pretty damn good last year. 12 to 6th is surely no joke. But this - what I saw today - this is now something entirely different. This is something that I've seen before. I've seen it and I recognize it as sure as I know my own face. I cannot mistake this feeling for anything other than what it most assuredly is. It is something I saw, and felt, back in 2012 with Crown; I saw and felt it again in '14 with TILT.
And this thing is - a Super Saiyan.
That's the only way I can explain it. Those corps in those years took that invisible step that upped their power to a level they had never achieved before. Maybe they didn't win it all, but that was not why we remember those shows. We remember because they all had crossed some invisible line and what came next from them was inevitable. Even if it took another season, even if it took two.
Boston has crossed that line. It's not even about where they place this year. It's about putting everyone else; the fans, DCI, and the top 3, on notice. They know how to go Super Saiyan now, and they are coming.
We've had our 'dark' shows. We've had our artsy shows. We've had 'clever', and minimalist and Fellini-esque and psychedelic and you name it shows. Prepare for Angry. Animal Farm in comparison was just sarcastic with a touch of upset. Wicked Games was dark with a touch of brooding.
What is coming this year is controlled and brutal anger. I know it because even Gino was surprised enough by it to raise an eyebrow and say out loud, "these kids are very good at doing angry".
Anyways, I'm calling it now. Top 4.
They'll fight it out with someone, possibly Cavs. Here's the Shamaliyan plot twist though. It's entirely too early to tell of course, but if they keep ramping up their power level at this same rate, they may very well leave 4th in their wake.
There, I said it. There is a definite possibility that, despite all I just said, that I might be underestimating them.

Samantha Scrogham same here, crown has a good musical selection this year but this is going to be extremely hard to beat. Joined the DCI craze in 2014 and have been a crownie since but holy shit. I guess we’ll see how Crown stacks up Sunday night.

When I first saw their show reveal, I thought that they were going to do pretty decent but not that well as last year in finals. But now that I watched their debut, they really proved me wrong. Mad respect.

This might be going out on a limb, but it could be partly because of the hammered dulcimer in the front ensemble. They are tuned diatonically to D, G, and C.

I did impact that year. Afterwards we watched finals, and kids were just there in their phones, and I didn’t understand how they didn’t appreciate it all. It just amazes me how talented these musicians are, and they weren’t even paying attention. Ugh. Makes me mad.

I simply don’t see them going from 12th to 3rd in 4 seasons.

This may be one of the tightest scoring seasons in history. Vanguard, BD, BAC, and from what I’ve heard, Crown will turn heads with their production. Blooo too. Can’t wait!

I've heard bloos show while they were doing The Blue Way. I will not give spoilers but it is definitely something. I would say BD, Bloo, and BAC in top 3 in no particular order. Crown didn't impress me as much as I would have liked it to and I haven't heard the Cavies or SCV yet so only time will tell.
