I was an SU demo for over 17 years. I quit about 5 years ago when I felt their product was stale and just a repeat of the same old thing. My creativity and joy has returned as I discovered the vast papercrafting world outside of Stampin Up. There is SO more innovation waiting for you. Sending you huge hugs!
Hi! Thank you! I have had so much fun with all kinds of products, trying new things, it's like I am setting aside the last 20 years and like a kid in a candy store, lol! Sending hugs right back to you!
I am not in that situation at all, however; i discovered the fun through one company and only used their products. Gradually, i realized that their means of advertising was not necessarily honest. Some products were defective, but they squiggled out of it... the customer screwed up... well, i was really needing better quality if i wanted to keep making good, unique, and fun cards to brighten lives. So, i started watching other videos and ordered a few things from brands x, y, and z! Oh, the joy returned as i found much better products. Sadly, that company seems to be headed down a sad path. I am grateful for all i learned, but I am so happy to have found new options and many new videos. When eating, they say variety is key, well, it's the same for crafting. There is an old song that came to mind today,"There's Such a Lot of Livin' to Do!"
Last time I checked, your life, just like everyone else's, is YOURS and you get to make your business what you want it to be. Never beholden to anyone else's opinion. Thanks for taking the time for this. I am 100% sure you are not alone. I dropped about 4 years ago after 10 years as a demo, because that was right for ME. People were all weird about it, for some strange reason. I still love making cards! My stamp collection is downright irresponsible. But now I feel no hesitation or guilt to use snarky greetings or funny images. I can choose from a huge variety of artists' work. It's a great position to be in. All the very best wishes to you as you pivot in your own direction! ❤🎨
YES! I agree 100%. And you're welcome - it was hard to make, I really didn't want to, as I said in the video. I love how you describe your stamp collection, that's the best! I can't wait to share with you what's coming! Thank you!!!
I have quit SU after 25 years. I will not help pay for Shanna's defense. Shelli is keeping those kids from Jared's family. Shame on them! No more SU. No support.
Yeah, it's all pretty crazy and things you just can't even imagine happening, right? I've struggled with, as a mom, how is the best way to handle something your grown child has done. And I just pray I never do. But the next layer to that is the custody case. That's such a slap in the face. You're not alone in your feelings!!!
I've been a demo for over 20 years - I have collected "contraband" crafting items for probably the past 8 years. I couldn't afford to branch out to other brands until then. The last few catalogs from SU have been hugely disappointing. I'm contemplating dropping my demoship.... but I love the paper and matching ink...... as soon as I stock up - I'm out...... Best of everything to you! You are a joy to listen to. Don't let the haters get you down........
I've only been a Demo for almost 4 years, and yes I'm even seeing a lot of older things that have retired are coming back, image may be slightly resized but the same. I am planning on leaving in December. My niece had some cards that I made in her store and someone saw the Stampin up trademark on back and said you support a murderer and with them not allowing the victims family to see grandkids was wrong and walked out of store. My niece immediately took the cards down and text me. I told her not to worry about it, I don't want her loosing business.
@@sandyfowler1139 I love the matching aspect of the inks, card and a crossed it all. We only need to use there logo if we use there stamps, I will keep using there other stuff but won't use the stamps if it means I have to put their logo on the product and get comments like my niece had.
I just stumbled across you through a FB reel today and I'm so glad I did! I hit subscribe before this video was even finished :) While I enjoy some of their papers, it's becoming increasingly difficult to want to do business with them. I especially struggle with such tight control over everything demos can/can't do. There are so many other great options out there. I'm so glad you have found your way out, are allowing your creativity to shine, and have found the joy in creating again!
I thought of joining SU years and years ago but didn’t like their “control” over the demonstrators and that they had to put Stampin Ups name on the back of their handiwork
Thank you for your honesty. You are the first STAMPIN UP demonstrator I have heard finally talk about this. I have never been a fan of multilevel businesses. STAMPIN UP has always been so expensive because of that. I like their products but buy them at thrift stores mostly. That is just me. I have been following this case and I personally think it is worth evaluating supporting this company because of it. However the hate that has been thrown at you is absolutely disgusting and shameful. I’m so sorry you have had to endure such behavior. I truly look forward to what you will be teaching all of us as you explore all that is out there in this crafting world. I wish you the best. GOD bless you my dear. ❤️
Thank you! It was a very hard video to make. It was easy to be honest, but I had no idea how it would be received. I was silly and stayed a bit longer for the discount, which is silly because there are great quality stamps out there for less than what my discount was. Thank you for the well wishes!!!!
I applaud you and your openness about your journey. I respect you for following your heart and what feels right for you. Thank you for your honesty, and most of all, for continuing to share your creativity with us. ❤
Good luck to you! There are so many great products out there to use. I will watch your channel. p.s. I thought it was just me. I usually made a list of products to get when new catalog came out. Nothing floated my boat in the last catalog-in fact, I quit ordering from SU.
I’m so happy for you! I was part of SU family, and you are an AMAZING teacher. But I grew tired of SU products. There are so many wonderful products out there, inks, papers, stamps, etc. SU just got old for me. I saw some videos you made with other products recently, and I was sooooo happy that you branched out. You have a good heart, and it showed as you never pushed products on us. May you throughly enjoy your new journey! This is a hobby to enjoy and let creativity flow, and we can always learn from others.
Hi!!! I think I know who this is, I believe you sent me an email - I am working through trying to reply to everyone on every platform and email. I agree with growing tired of them. And I am so happy that you are so happy!!!! You are wonderful!
I quit SU for a health issue. While undergoing chemotherapy and surgery and stuff, I laid in bed alot and browsed websites. I love SU carstock and ink but I love Soellbinders, Tonic, Diamond Press, etc. I will never stop looking at other stuff. I love it. It is so much better, more creative, and less expensive than SU. And when SU did their thing with Close to my Heart, I was done with even the appearance of loyalty. It’s a wide open field out there with many fabulous creative people and I am healthy now so I’m going to enjoy it all. SU can go fly a kite with their over-priced Temu products. My classes are well attended and crafting is fun again and discovering new stuff is good for the growth of my crafting abilities. God bless your awakening and congratulations for acquiring your joy!
🥂❤Cheers to your good health and your post ….I agree! I was a closet Temu purchaser but I have come out now….some good prices for what could be an expensive hobby!
I am so excited for you….there is so much more beyond Stampin Up. I stopped being a demonstrator 5 years ago and it was the best decision I ever made. I look forward to seeing you bloom and grow in your new journey.❤
I was a Demonstrator for 11 1/2 years. About 4 years ago I dropped due to repeat designs and I could no longer do my classes. I was so disappointed when Sara took over with all the policy changes… Thanks for talking about the Shanna Garner situation. I’ve been following the story and may I say that money is truly the root of all evil. I feel so badly for Jared’s family. The worst part is that the Garner’s have Shanna and Jared’s twins and won’t let his side of the family see them at all. This is so wrong and sad. Again, it’s just because they have money and are selfish. There’s so much to all of this story. Stampin’ Up! ONLY cares about people that are high up in their sales. I love the fact that now I can use ANY products I want!! Glad you can do that, too! 🙌
Wow!!! It's so awesome to hear somebody tell it like it is. When every demo in the country is featuring the same bundle during the same period of time, it's no coincidence. When everyone offers "free card kits" with an order of a certain amount, it's not a coincidence. I have still not recovered creatively from SU. I feel like I spent thousands of dollars on products that I rarely use, some I don't even like. I have subscribed to this channel. You are refreshing, and you didn't "sugar-coat" what needed to be said. You've got my respect!
Thank you so much! I am so sorry that you haven't recovered creatively, I would love to help you with that if I can in any way! I appreciate you taking the time to comment, I really do!!!
I appreciate your honesty and completely understand. It still mystifies me that people want to hold you responsible for everything that happens and because they feel bad, take it out on you. I am so sorry that you have to deal with that. I will be dropping soon because my one last customer has recently passed and I did it for her. My intro to mixed media was what turned the tide for me. As you described, I was having fun again! I wish you success in your new journey and that you are feeling the wonder of creating that you previous felt. God bless.
Thank you for your sweet comment. It has been hard to read the endless comments over the past year and a half. And I'm excited for you that you found a new way to craft and are having fun - that's awesome!!!
Been a follower of yours for ages Meg. Love your creativity, love your cards, love you!! Seen the changes lately, but you do you boo!! So proud of you for colouring outside the lines and cannot wait to follow along with your new chapter. You sound so excited and happy.
Well done. Very brave video to make. I left Stampin’ Up! Years ago due to the control factor. I have loved your videos although I haven’t kept up for a while. Crafting for me has been a healing since the death of my son. Your calmness as you crafted was mesmerising. Keep crafting and heal from this experience. I’m sorry people have treated you so unkindly.
Thank you! Yes, the control thing, even as far as saying what your spouse can and cannot do - it's mind blowing! I am so sorry to hear of your son, and I am happy that you have found healing through crafting. Crafting is very powerful!
As a 20+ year customer of SU! and a former demonstrator, I’ve been feeling for years as though their innovation had stalled out, and I was getting tired of seeing every set come from the same limited number of artists. I started branching out into different products despite the unhappiness of my demonstrator (and best friend) that I was “taking money away” from her by spending it with other companies. I acknowledged her unhappiness, but told her that ultimately I was going to buy what made me happy, since that was my reason for card making and stamping. I still bought some product from SU!, but it gradually became less and less as I saw nothing in the catalogs I wanted. I don’t know what the future holds for SU!, but I’m glad your world has opened up, and I wish you much joy in your new journey.
Thank you so much! And I am so sorry that anyone questioned where you are spending your money. That had to have been less than fun! There is so much creativity out there, way more than any one company can provide. I'm just glad that you are sticking with your crafting!
Just discovered you, and now will be following. I left SU April 2023 after over 10 yrs with them. It wasn't until recently that I heard about the "issues". My leaving was about the creativity..so glad that you've found your joy again. Can't wait to see more from you!
OH, Meg! I do not even know where to begin. I noticed the different products in your recent videos, but that was what I liked about you. You never insisted that we had to use one particular product line. I follow other demonstrators who do just that. One even criticized me during a live video for using a different company's product and posting a photo to her FB page. I was humiliated even though I was by myself in my craft room. I did not know that was a thing at the time. I started following you years ago because I loved your attitude, personality, and craft style. I am so sorry you received the hate mail and the difficulties you had trying to quit SU. You (nobody does) do not deserve that!!!! Hopefully, you can put it all behind you. It will not be easy. I have slowed down my own cardmaking because of my age and abilities, but I will continue watching your videos! Have fun!
Hi! Thank you for sharing all of that. I am so sorry that happened to you on a FB page, stuff like that just drives me nuts! I'm sorry you aren't creating as much, but I am thrilled to have you as a part of all of this!!!
I was honestly and literally brought to tears hearing you share how poorly you've been treated on so many fronts. I commend you for your very fair and, frankly, kind, explanation. I suspect that this whole process wasn't anywhere near as easy as you made it sound. I have been a fan of yours for all the years you went from a new demo to one of the people with the highest social media presence representing your company. I am shocked that they would allow someone of your considerable talent and influence to not be supported and while I am sad for them, I am THRILLED for you! Thank you for your honesty and know that there are ZILLIONS of us out here who are EAGERLY awaiting to see All The Things from you!
Thank you! It was very hard to record. And I did try to be kind, yet up front on what has happened. And I am thrilled for me too. I just keep hearing Matt's words in my head, and he's so right. The doors are open to opportunity and I'm walking through them. There is so much to share coming up and I can't wait to share it with you!
I've never come across any of your social media, and I don't know why I clicked on this video, but I'm glad I did. After ten years with SU, I'm ready to make the leap. Your husband's comments reminded me of my husband's 20 years ago when I was let go from the company I had been working for, and he said "Welcome to Independence Day". I went back to school, got a degree in Floristry, and opened my flower shop which I had for 10 years. After closing the shop and retiring, SU was my creative outlet, but there is so much more, and so much better product than what SU offers. I just love stamping, I love teaching (which I also did outside of my flower shop). So I will continue my creative journey in a new way. Thanks for sharing your honest opinion, and I will definitely pop in to see how things go for you.
I'm glad you found me, even if for this reason. I love what your husband said! That's awesome. I can't wait to share new things with you and I hope you share with me what you find!
I was a demonstrator for years and I loved the products BUT the world of paper crafts is huge and if you do what you love because you love it then we should be able to go wherever we need or want to go. Your story of how they treated you is unfortunately the age old MLM way and my hope out of your video is people will see just one more example of how MLMS do not care about the people at all. Good luck on your new journey and may it be independent of any MLM or constraints that hold back any creativity you are blessed to share 😊
I honestly never thought anything of it except you went a different direction. I look forward to the creative content you continue to provide and I’m sorry you were treated the way you were by another company and some of your followers!
I’ve known you for years and I know your heart. I’m so sorry you have been going through this. I’m glad you are taking care of yourself…you are important. Maybe in my heart of hearts and knowing you…I think this is why I had the “urge” to send the Dr. Pepper cases and cookies…plus the fact our honorary granddaughter came home safely. Take care…we love you 🥰
You are amazing! That Dr. Pepper came at the perfect time! Not even gonna try to hide it, I went through several trying to make this video! I love you both too. Thank you so much for your support and kind words, my friend!
Meg, this was the most amazing video! Loved the explanations as I did "wonder" as I saw you demonstrating on Instagram and "wondered". I totally embrace turning the page! As a matter of fact, I'm thinking along those lines as well. I'll drop you a private message and so sorry for all the nasty comments. There is no reason for human beings to treat others that way. Keep on keeping on and Thank You for your heartfelt explanation.
Oh my sweet friend, thank you! I'm sorry I didn't say things sooner. And there's not a reason for humans to do that, you're so right. I love you and miss you!
I am so happy you posted this. I am a hobby demo but have found that there are so many other companies out there that offer so much more. I too was SUPER disappointed in the catalog and mini-catalog and have made the decision to not move forward with SU. I am sorry that you have had to endure all the negative comments - people can be rude. I had not "found" you before but I am now a subscriber and look forward to future posts.
Hi! And welcome! I'm sorry you have been disappointed too, but yes, there is so much out there that is incredible and fun! I am delighted you found me today and I can't wait to create with you!
I make cards with SU products, but I also own/make with other products by different brands. No one pays me to show what I love and I don't like sharing things I honestly don't like. I work two jobs and am in school. I haven't joined SU as a business demo because I honestly cannot base my future and income off of getting people to buy from me. That's literally how you make money. And I want to make what I love and make youtube videos without pressure. Thank you for sharing how you came to your decision. I'm sorry there was so much hate towards you in regard to that case. I hope you distanted and healed from that. I'm thrilled you're still sharing your skills with us.
Stampin Up is one of the few companies that is NOT supportive of other stamp companies. When you follow some of the other content makers they use a variety of products and they are supportive of each other. Good luck, and I subscribe to your channel today!!
That's been the best thing I have found since reaching out to some people back in February and March. I LOVE the collaborations, it's exciting. It's the tide raising all boats, and I have fought and fought for this with SU for years. Thank you for subscribing! I can't wait to create with you!
I have been with SU for only 2 years as a hobby demonstrator and am leaving the end of this year. So many things have changed in these two years, but one constant is that their shipping is so out of line that I made sure to purchase only when shipping was free, and it worked for me in many cases for these two years. I went to SU classes many years ago, and I could not believe how many demonstrators were still in it for so many years. I wish you the best and plan to follow you to see how you have branched out. I follow so many vendors and have learned so much from them and I believe there is plenty of room to share new products.
Hi Meg, I stumbled across your video and I’m so glad I did. I was so sad to hear what you have been through after being with the company for so long. Honestly? I think you have made the right decision. I have seen so many videos and heard of so many demonstrators leaving SU for the same reason’s. Personally, I think their being so restrictive is going to be their downfall. The crafting world is so big and trying to have a monopoly on it is ridiculous. Anyway, I look forward to watching past and future videos of yours and I’m SURE you are going to do well…
Thank you for video❤️. Truth is found it on FB and just subscribed today why because i love that you are standing up for yourself!!!! I am so sorry you are going through this some people are knuckleheads! I think your husband is right this is the best thing to happen to you wait and see. Loved you coloring the outside for a change. I also signed up for your news letter.
I'm so glad that you found me. And thank you! It was a very hard video to make, standing firm for yourself isn't always easy. I can't wait to share all kinds of new things with you!
I, too, had wondered why you left, but I felt it was a personal decision and really none of my business. I have always loved your content and that was the reason I started following you in the first place, not for the company you were promoting. I continue to use some of SU! products, but fewer as the time passes. I continue to expand my love of other products and companies, and you’re partially responsible for that as well. You do what you need to do and your customers and followers will continue on with you for this journey because of your talents, etc. Thank you for making this video.
Thank you so much! I felt it was personal, but then again, so many have been on this journey with me, and it wasn't right to not say anything. I appreciate you sharing all of this with me, and please reach out if I can help you with anything!!
I'm still a demo have been for over 25 years. I was on the same page about the catalog...lol The trial thing made me think about my demoship and how Su supposed to be family and the owners never reached out to Jared's family at least to give condolences. That made me sad. But I think that your new endeavors will fill your heart with joy! This is my last year!
Yes, it's all sad with how his family has been treated after losing their son, spouse, uncle, brother. The catalog, well, it something isn't it, lol? And thank you, I'm so excited to close this window and open the door to everything else!
WOW, just wow! So very sorry to hear this information and I am flabbergasted. I was a demonstrator many years ago and I, too wanted to use other products. Life is too short to be told what you can and cannot do. Have fun creating!
When CTMH shut their doors I was encouraged to take the Stampin Up deal - teams intact, same level, great start up kit pricing . . . I looked at all of the restrictions and said no. I wonder how all the old CTMH people are liking their choice.
Well... I have heard from a lot of them that have "buyer's remorse". My understanding is that with CTMH, your policies were only about 5 pages long and not full of controlling text. For me, I feel yucky knowing I did it for this many years! But I also thought that was what these companies could do - and I am not sure that they can, they are just power houses. As soon as you question a policy... out you go!
@@ITeachStamping plus I was with Fun Stampers Journey before CTMH and that was a hot mess ending. I'm over them all honestly. I've moved on to in person markets selling things completely outside of papercrafting.
I moved over from CTMH to SU and left in September when I found out about the legal issues and my conscious would not let me support a family that would keep the children from the fathers family.
I struggled with the deal, I hoped for the best but prepared to leave after the year is necessary. It seems ot be necessary. Just nothing I can work with for my own style and no decent scrapbook products. Not buyer's remorse, more like turning in a leased car. The legal issues are just head-shaking.
I think many people are dropping from SU because of the things that are coming out about the legal situation. I was a demo for about 5 years and got tired of the push to sell, sell, sell. I was holding monthly stamp camps and making quota but I will never guilt people into buying a non essential item. I have done some research about this horrible crime that was committed. I have since sold or donated most of my SU inventory. People need to realize that you are not the one on trial and have nothing to do with the personal responsibility of this family. I am sorry people feel that way. Good for you for stepping away. There are, and always have been good, quality paper crafting companies out there to enjoy the fun of crafting!
Thank you so much for sharing all of this! I appreciate you sharing! Yes, the legal situation has made things even worse, and as I said, the sum is greater than the parts and it's time to go! Thank you so much for your kind words!!!
I have followed you on here for awhile. I think when I first started with SU I found your channel and have followed you for a while. I have also seen several demos that I followed leave SU in recent year. I have been very curious to each one’s reason for leaving. I am a hobby demo and have always been a hobby demo. Like many others I have exposed myself to other companies out there. I agree there are various good products out there. Agree if SU doesn’t have a competing product why can’t we utilize. The same with adhesives and tools. For real, I have found other tools and adhesives that I like, I haven’t even been buying “green glue” from SU for a long time. I am happy for your choice, because it’s YOURS! I will continue to follow you along with the others who I was following and have also left SU. Each new annual catalog when I get disappointed with the offers I think, okay this is it. I keep my minimum up but do not keep myself exclusive. I look forward to your new videos and path. Good luck and will be there with you.
Thank you for your honesty. You are very brave to post the real reasons for leaving SU. I've been a demo for almost 20 years and slowly, but surely, my business is slowly dying out. I share some of your same frustrations. The latest catalogs are meh. The cost of everything is pretty high. No support. I need a different direction. Listening to you and Wendy Cranford have given me some ideas on different directions to take. Again, thank you.
Hi Susan, I am so sorry to hear that your business has greatly slowed down. I know exactly how that feels, and it doesn't feel good at all! I hope that whatever you choose to do is 100% right for you!! Best wishes!
Your video came across my Facebook feed today, and while I don’t usually watch random videos, this one I felt compelled to watch. I was also a demo for many years, and loved the company, attended the conventions, met the family!! It became that I was my only customer, and in the height of 2020, I decided to drop it. And four years later, I’m happier and am starting to enjoy crafting again, as opposed to it feeling like a chore!! I am also absolutely shocked to hear about Shanna… Living in Canada, we are mostly blocked from seeing world wide news! Best of luck on your future endeavors!! It’s my first time watching your videos, but I’ll be back!!!
Thank you so much for watching and for commenting, I really appreciate you! I wonder if we ever met! Perfect wording, it was feeling like a chore. And now it doesn't, which feels amazing. And I am so glad that you have started back as well. I can't wait to see you back here!
Thank you for your video! I have never seen any of your videos but I just subscribed to your channel. I can’t wait to see what you do ! I have been a hobby demonstrator for years and am also leaving. You explained it very well. I appreciate your honesty too.
WOW, thank you for a great video. This is the first time I've watched one of your videos and am so excited that I found your channel. I'm looking forward to dumping SU and finding all the great products that are out there. I can't wait to learn more from you. Thanks again for an inspiring video.
I just stumbled across your video and I am glad I did! I was actually an Independent Consultant (and eventually maker which I wasn't fond of lol) with CTMH since 2020 until they went out of business and merged with SU. I had already been struggling with sales and I already didn't have a huge customer base because I also work full time and just didn't have the time to invest. I basically stayed because I really did like the products and I really did like the camaraderie of all the CTMH folks, BUT... I have always been a rogue paper crafter, using products from all over the paper crafting world, and I still mixed and matched items how I saw fit for me, because as an artist, you cannot be placed into a box and expected to only create one way. SO, I opted to not move over to SU and I am super glad I did. I have heard so many other of my fellow CTMH people did the same. I personally enjoy being my own artist, in charge of my own creativity, and what products I want to use. I have found an amazing group of ladies over at the SBC forum i've been chatting with. Reminds me of the old CKMB back in the day. Anyway, I am glad to meet you and I can't wait to see what fun things you create with all the many wonderful products available to us paper crafters!
Thank you so much for sharing all of this. I am so sorry that you went through that with CTMH. I have several friends that were planning to make the move until they read the pages of the policies and procedures. I talked with some of them and agreed, their policies are a huge overreach - even dictating what your spouse can and can't do. I tried to fight the good fight with them, but they simply aren't worth it. I'm so happy you are good with your decision to not move - I would be happy for you if you did make the move and were good with that too. I'm so happy you stumbled your way to where we can "meet" and I can't wait to share more and more with you!
@@ITeachStamping There is an actual policy about spouse activities? WTH? Wow... that's just odd to me. Happy Crafting, and I'll be checkin out your videos moving foward!
I have been following your RUclips channel for a while. I don’t usually comment….lol. I appreciate you sharing. I am a hobbyist SU demonstrator. I’m excited for you, I can hear your enthusiasm. I’m looking forward to your upcoming projects.
Hi! I'm so glad you did comment so I can thank you for being with me! And I'm so glad the enthusiasm came through, I was hopeful that that was what people heard most. Thank you!
Congrats to you for seeing there is so much more out there to share your gift with us. I have subscribed and thank you for showing cp products. I have a hard time finding to many videos. Many blessings to you in the future
Thank you so much, I appreciate you sharing this with me. You never know how others will interpret your voice, so I am delighted it came through in my voice! Thank you!!!
I'm so sorry that people can be so awful. My motto is to lead with kindness and I feel that in your videos and crafts. Thank you for sharing your journey with us and I look forward to learning about all the new tools and products you can now share!
Thank you for this video. I have indeed heard your heart and I am sending you a huge cyber hug. You are a very talented crafter who is much too big to be contained in the SU box. You GO, GIRL!!!! This is very LIKELY the best thing that has ever happened to you.
I am so proud of you for reaching for your future. You have too much amazing stuff to share with us and no one should stop you from being you. Big hugs and blessings.
I just found you today. Watched and sympathize with you. I love making cards and have been asked to become a demo for years. I’ve never bit the bullet. I’m so glad I didn’t. Thanks for sharing but also thanks for sharing your creativity!
Thank you! I am sorry we met under these circumstances, but happy that you are here now. And I'm glad you are happy with your decision. More cute stuff headed your way!
Oh my goodness!! You are beautifully more transparent than the finest of vellum !! Looking forward to all the awesome works that you will bring to life in the plethora of crafting tools available outside the box!!! 💞💞💞
What a beautiful comment, thank you! I am delighted that it came through as I hoped and prayed it would. I can't wait to share with you all kinds of new ideas and fun stuff!
Meg, thank you for sharing. I have been thinking about leaving for quite some time and for many of the same reasons you have stated. Now, I feet much better about choosing to leave. There really are so many wonderful products out there, which I will enjoy using once my other commit ends. Good luck with your next journey in creativity.
New subscriber today with you. I truly appreciate your honesty am on my way out of SU but I’m only a hobbyist. I do love the solid core paper and might order some from a friend in the future but I’m looking for a new alcohol marker. Can you recommend one?
Welcome! I am sorry that we met this way yet delighted you are here! YES! I do have alcohol markers to recommend. Check out this blog post here: iteachstamping.com/olo-marker-summer-colors/
Thank you for sharing. I was wondering why I was seeing different company product lines in your videos. I just recently quit due to financial and stress reasons, and I’m happy to be able to be open about the “contraband” products I use in my everyday card making. I do love SU products and will probably always use them, but now the choices are wide open. I didn’t know all that about the family. And since I didn’t have a thriving business or social media presence, I never got any of that kind of reactions. I’m sorry you went through all that, especially with the company (especially since there are a lot of the big name demos hawking Stamp & Storage). Best wishes for this new journey.
You're welcome, it was a hard video to make. But I made it because of everyone just like you, who was left wondering. There are so many wonderful and affordable options these days that make the discount not even worth it. And you can absolutely have affiliate links to Stamp & Storage, it's allowed - but you better not for a stamp positioner. It doesn't pass the common sense check in any way. Thank you for your best wishes, I can't wait to share new things with you. Also, please reach out with any questions!
Good for you. I'm going to drop at the end of December. I have been a rep for 3 years. Off on for 12 years when my kids were younger. The new catalog sucks!!! No Halloween!!! What the He**!! Jarrod's murder it's just to much!!! My prayers for his wife and children. I love other companies too!!! Thanks for sharing.
Thank you! Yeah, the lack of selection is consistently disappointing. And more importantly, the murder is too much. We keep his wife and kids on our prayer list. Totally senseless and disgusting. I wish you the best with your new adventure also!
I am glad you shared your story, I too as well as my stamping group have disappointed in the Su catalogs for the last 2 or so years… another complaint I have about su is that they are continually out of stock and I for one can not keep ordering with the high rate of postage.. I personally feel that Su is missing the mark all the way around..they have changed a lot.. i have never been a demo but have ordered for 25 years. I
I just came across your video. I too, have been a stamper/ card maker for 20 years exclusively SU. I was very disappointed with the new catalog and don't like all of the online exclusive stuff...
I'm glad you're here! I feel bad that this is how you found me, but I hope you stick with me through these fun changes! The online exclusives are a mess on top of that catalog, I 100% agree!!!
I quit SU about a year ago for a similar reason - I was feeling limited by their product which was getting worse and worse from one catalogue to next. There is a whole other crafting world out there :)
First time listener. I'm going to do this coloring technique!! I am a Canadian discount shopper, but only could afford to be for two years. It's expensive to stay for the discounts when you have to purchase everything yourself. Lol. Can you tell me where you got your bone folder? Thanks!
Thank you for being here today! Wow, what a great way for us to meet, lol! BUT I am thrilled that you will be trying this coloring technique, I LOVE it. Let me know how it goes for you! I got that bone folder off of Amazon. There is one that looks slightly different with a very tapered end, don't get that one - not worth it. I'm not sure if this link will work in Canada. It's not the exact same as the one I used, but I think they look identical: amzn.to/4f671ct
The reason I left SU years ago was for the same reasons of them stating that i "was in violation" because i happened to share on FB of another crafty item from a Craft store (Michael's) that SU didn't sell. I told them they had no legal rights over what I bought with my money. I wasn't even advertising the items they mentioned. Those items just happened to be in the background of the pictures i posted. It was plain ridiculous. So i left and i haven't been missing them. There's so much creativity outside of SU, that I didn't need to worry about not having the right products to be creative. It's sad that SU has been treating people so badly. And you're right, the manipulation and control issues are uncalled for. I wish you all the best in your new endeavors. 😊
I am so sorry you had to deal with that! It's so silly! And you're so right, there is so much creativity outside of them. Thank you so much for sharing this with me, I appreciate you!!!
That's really interesting considering all of their top demonstrators have their craft room favourites now and promote other items from other companies.
@@ITeachStamping you're welcome and thank you for sharing your story. You definitely have greater and brighter days ahead. Blessings to you and your family 🥰
When the market is saturated with so many amazing products from different companies it’s so nice to spread your creative wings! Creativity shouldn’t have limitations! May your journey bring you joy and happiness!
I am using my favorite alcohol markers, called OLO. They are so wonderful! I will be making a lot more videos using them and talking about them, so stay tuned!
These are my favorites! They are OLO markers and this video doesn't do them justice. I even have my own collection with them now: iteachstamping.com/olo They are wonderful!
I really enjoyed you sharing this technique. The white images pop. And this opens up so many options to customize backgrounds. Can’t wait to play with this. I can’t wait to see what else you have coming up. I’m sorry you received the comments and messages you have. For those who have build your business (careers) around the company, I’m disappointed SU isnt being more supportive. I do find it interesting that a company that promotes family is withholding the kids from their family. I really hope common sense prevails and the kids are reunited with the family. There is never too much family.
Thank you! It is such a fun technique, I haven't done it in years because I was afraid to use too much of one marker. It was a new friend that did it recently, (LV Handcrafted) and she uses acrylic paint markers to do it. It's adorable! As for the other, I hope common sense wins as well. It's all just awful!
Just discovered your page! I’m sure it is so had to leave a brand you have been loyal to! I am enjoying your videos. I love so many companies’ products it so fun to mix and match! New subscriber!
I've not finished watching the video and didn't know much about the situation involving the Gardners. Living in Australia, we have enough killings in our country that we probably don't need this on our news stations. That said, all I can say is bravo to you, Meg for your tenacity and for continuing your journey in another direction. I am so sorry you had to endure the unbelievable disgusting comments from keyboard warriors... to me it makes no sense shy they would feel it necessary to target someone who is working hard to make a living doing something they love. Bravo to you for making the decision that is best for you and your family. I am new to your channel and socials, only finding you in early 2023, and I have learnt a lot of different techniques especially about colouring and holding the blend pens a particular way will give you different thicknesses and hues... Keep your head high and continue with your journey. All the very best to you from Melbourne Australia.
Thank you so much! I am sorry that you heard about it from me, but thank you for your support! I am delighted that my videos have helped you and I hope they continue to do so. I love card making and it's so exciting to have fun again!!!
Really Like these cards 🤩never really thought about just doing the background ! Thankyou it was so relaxing to watch and you have given me new inspiration ..Subscribed
Meg, we only get one life to live and nobody is promised tomorrow. Follow your heart! Isn’t that what you would tell your daughter? Wishing you all the best! Enjoy your new beginnings!! Hugs❤❤❤
Good for you!! Well done, so many times we feel misused ( is that a word lol) and we do nothing about it,; it could be a big thing or a little thing but everytime we let it happen it chips away at our confidence and self worth….so again…well done!!!
Thank you! And I think it's a great word, lol! It does take a toll on us, and makes us doubt things. But this is a positive change, in the right direction, and I'm excited!!!
I attended a Stampin' Up party just to support a friend. I had no intention of purchasing anything. Fast forward 27 years...I'm still paper crafting and living it more than ever. I have always used products from many different companies. Tools today are nothing like when I started. Your mind will be blown as you discover more. Thank you for sharing your story. Stay curious!! (Kentucky)
Hi Meg! I love what you said. I’m sad people are so hurt filled telling you things like that. Hod bless you as you continue to just make cards and make people happy! I’ve watched you over the years and love your teaching style.
Thank you so much!!!! And yes, that's all I want to do is share my love of this hobby and have it be met with joy. I am so glad to have you along with me for all of this!
Anyone that has been a demonstrator completely grasps the decision to leave. Only customers do not really get it since they are not required to conform as closely to all the rules, requirements, etc. in minutiae. Plus the Gardner personal journeys are THEIRs 100% and should not really be a reflection on demonstrators or be commented on to them. Be happy!!
Malarkey. I'm a customer and understood the conformity written into the SU policies as soon as I read their enrollments contract. It was a GIANT NO for me to never sign such nonsense. Still buy the same way I buy from everyone else who sells retail products. People don't READ before signing. They go for the discount savings in exchange for coerced compliance. SU isn't the only big corporation that does this, and like most big corporate entities that get away with it because people don't READ before signing.
I was disappointed in SU products even prior to the court drama. And so when all that happened and I learned more, I decided to be done buying from them. I doubt I was the only one, as your sales might suggest. But I’m always flabbergasted by the people who spew such vitriol online. When I saw the latest catalog, my first thought was oh, they are going to get rid of all the demonstrators and go strictly online. I’m glad you have the opportunity now to broaden your horizons and rediscover your love of crafting.
Thank you so much! I have no idea what they are doing over there, and the best part is, it's not my circus anymore, lol! I am thrilled to have you here with me, there are a lot of new videos headed your way!
I’m so sorry that you and your gorgeous family witnessed so much hatred. You are a brilliant teacher and creative. I love the respectful way you shared your story. Love the colouring outside the lines.
I have been a Cardmaker for 14 years and use what ever I like, occasionally buy a set I like from SU. But I would never be confined to one brand. I’m happy for you and look forward to seeing your creations. I have subscribed. Hello from Australia
Wow, i've seen several video titles with the same theme and always thought, so what? There's more out there, you'll find out if you haven't already. Didn't know any of this information and so sorry that people have made these comments and made you feel so horrible, but so happy that you have a new release on life and crafting, it's so much fun being able to use whatever you want to. As a previous demonstrator, I liked and disliked some of their products too, but only ever signed up for the discount without any intention to sell, but when it's your whole income, that must have been so scary for you, i'm glad you're coming out the other side and I reckon your hubby might be right :) hugs from Australia :)
Girl I totally understand and was part of the reason I left. I’m so sorry that people were so mean to you. But your husband was right this could be the best thing for you.
Thanks for your honesty You shared your heart and even though it was nice to hear, it is a shame that you felt the need to do so. I will keep on following you and appreciate your talent. Thank you.
Thank you so much for hearing my heart in it. I had no idea how the tone would come across, I just prayed and hoped for the best. I am thrilled you will be staying with me, I have lots to share!
I left this year, I was never a big time demo and life had really gotten in the way. For me it was a culmination of things: I didn’t have time, changes in their structure, the lack of creativity in products and the trial. Good luck in your future endeavors
Best of luck to you as you transition to your positive changes, Meg! There is life beyond SU, and I’m sure they’ve lost plenty of customers over this pending court case of their daughter’s. It’s a very sad situation!
I am sorry you had to go thru all of that crap and meanest crap- I am so happy that you found a new path and I am happy to join you. I wish you all the best and I am so disappointed in SU.
Kudos to "Having Fun". I never could get excited about staying with one product line, no matter how many times i was asked to join up. There is just too many fun products out there!
Oh, don't even get me started on the whole join up thing, oye, lol!!! And there is so much good out there that is way more fun! Thank you so much for the kudos!
Love your markers … Will you share the brand? Are they alcohol markers? Thanks for your video and honesty… myself and another fellow demo have had similar feelings and thoughts! All the best as you move forward!
Thank you! The markers are incredible! They are alcohol markers from OLO. Here's my link to check them out, iteachstamping.com/olo. I will be making a lot of videos talking about them, so stay tuned! As for the honesty part, it was easy to be honest, but hard to make the video. I hope that you are able to make the best decisions for you and I appreciate the best wishes!!!
I’m so sad that the anonymity of social media comments makes it so easy for people to be so cruel. 😢 I love Stampin Up… I was introduced to the wonderful world of cardmaking thru it. I love so many of their products…most especially their color coordinating. But several years ago I began to see so many wonderful styles and products by other companies that I fell in love with, and I just couldn’t justify maintaining my demonstratorship with SU when i wanted to spend my available crafting dollars on other products… so I left. It was the best thing I’ve ever done for my hobby. My creativity and joy has grown by leaps and bounds. I’m so sorry for the Gardner and Bridegan families. I truly pray justice will be served.
Thank you for sharing all of this! There are so many companies out there with such awesome products. I was always jealous of my Stamping Family members for getting to use what they wanted and I was stuck with a limited selection. I'm so happy it's been the best thing for your hobby! I also pray that justice will be served, it's heartbreaking!
Wishing you the best for you and your business. Agree… catalog, products and ideas have become stale, overpriced and overrated for several years!!! You go be YOU! May the blessings continue to be with you. 🙏🏼
WOW! I’m a hobbyist with SU and I am trying to stay with them just to be 20 years lol (just to say I accomplished something for 20 years) but I get less and less impressed. I just recently heard about the murder case and wonder if I want to stay or not. Hearing about the refusing children to see the other family really irks me. Good Luck in your adventure.
Agree. The kids shouldn't be kept from their siblings and grandparents. Their step mother wants to see them too! The trial starts in October 2025, I think.
Good for you! I've also found a LOT of other products to use! I'm a hobby demonstrator that has been disappointed with SU stamp sets being offered for a long time. It's time for me to hang it up, too. 🥴 Good Luck! 😊
I’m struggling staying true to those who come to my stamp club. I’m fighting an internal struggle - I want to “just leave out the back door” but I can’t until my stamp club is finished in February. I really dislike the new catalog format as well along with upcoming changes in early 2025. And I’m so sad about the kids (custody battle). My heart is with you.
Thank you for sharing. I am so sorry you are struggling with this as well. I will say that sharing with the members of Stamping Family what I was going through, helped "release" me from any obligations I felt I had in place. They wanted me to be happy doing my thing. I don't know if having a conversation with them may help you, not necessarily to get out of your stamp club, but maybe take some pressure off of you. My heart is with you too!
Their is too much creativity out there to limit your self to one company or product!
I agree. I no longer buy from them.
Thank you so very much! If I can help you on your journey at all, please let me know!
@@jdball63 I agree 100%!! The "reruns" in the catalogs are abhorrent! So many other places to go. Even HSN on TV has great offerings!
@@kellylynn6831 so terribly sad! 😢☹️
I hit subscribe before this video was even finished :)
While I enjoy some of their papers, it's becoming increasingly difficult to want to do business with them. I especially struggle with such tight control over everything demos can/can't do. There are so many other great options out there. I'm so glad you have found your way out, are allowing your creativity to shine, and have found the joy in creating again!
Thank you so much! I am happy you found me! And you're right, there are so many great options out there!
Thank you so much! I can't wait to share all kinds of creativity with you, I'm so happy you want to see it!!
Thank you so much for sharing!!! I am so happy you have found great items to use in your classes and that you are sharing your love of card making!
Thank you! I am excited too! The big crafting world is full of great stuff and I am excited you are joining me for the next chapter!
I was a Demonstrator for 11 1/2 years. About 4 years ago I dropped due to repeat designs and I could no longer do my classes. I was so disappointed when Sara took over with all the policy changes…
Thanks for talking about the Shanna Garner situation.
Thank you! Colouring outside the lines (like spelling colouring that way today, lol!) is beautiful!!!
YAY! Welcome! I am excited that you found me. It sounds like we both struggled with the creativity part of it. And I'm excited for us both!
Thank you for coloring outside the lines. It shows your creativity. Don’t stop teaching
Thank you so much! I agree, it's where creativity lives! And I won't stop teaching, I promise!
Thank you so much! I agree with you 100% and I am DONE with MLMs. I am grateful for your words of encouragement!!!
I honestly never thought anything of it except you went a different direction. I look forward to the creative content you continue to provide and I’m sorry you were treated the way you were by another company and some of your followers!
Thank you so much and I am excited to have you hear on this journey with me!
@@ITeachStamping we love you and we support you💕
Meg, this was the most amazing video!
Thank you! I love that you love what you make and that you share your talents with others!! I appreciate all your sweet and kind words!
Thank you.❤
Stampin Up is one of the few companies that is NOT supportive of other stamp companies.
Thank you for sharing! Yes, the shipping has been a total mess, I hear you! Thank you for your well wishes, I am super excited!
Anyway, I look forward to watching past and future videos of yours and I’m SURE you are going to do well…
Thank you! I am sorry that you found me this way, but I am delighted that you are here! I am beyond excited!!!
This is my 1st time on your channel and even I am proud of you. I am
so happy that you have found your path and your voice.
Thank you so very much! Thank you for being here and thank you for leaving me these incredible words!
I can’t wait ❤️❤️❤️
I was on the same page about the catalog...lol
The trial thing made me think about my demoship and how Su supposed to be family and the owners never reached out to Jared's family at least to give condolences.
I agree, life is short, use the stamps you want! Thank you so much!!!
Thank you so much for your sweet comments and support!!!
I have been a subscriber for a while, and I have always enjoyed your videos. I’m so happy that you’re finding your Joy again. It’s so important.
Thank you for being with me through all kinds of changes, I appreciate you! And yes, Joy is crazy important!
You are very welcome! I'm sorry we met this way, but happy you found me. Lots of fun stuff headed your way!
WOW, thank you for a great video. This is the first time I've watched one of your videos and am so excited that I found your channel. I'm looking forward to dumping SU and finding all the great products that are out there. I can't wait to learn more from you. Thanks again for an inspiring video.
Thank you so much! We are going to have so much fun together working with products that are simply amazing and fun!

Thank you for this video. I have indeed heard your heart and I am sending you a huge cyber hug. You are a very talented crafter who is much too big to be contained in the SU box. You GO, GIRL!!!! This is very LIKELY the best thing that has ever happened to you.
THANK YOU! Thank you so very much and I appreciate you saying all of that!!!

Thank you so much for your sweet words. I hope you have a smooth transition that is perfect for you!
@@ITeachStampingit DOES pass the "SU gets kickbacks from Stamp & Storage" when SU demos promote and sell those products sniff test. Hmmm... 😂
Thanks for sharing your experiences. I use all sorts of adhesives and other glues and things in my classes as well.
I just don't understand the whole "contraband" nonsense. It's always felt very weird to me. I wish you the very best with your clases!
Yes, the inventory! Ugh, what a mess! I agree with everything you've said, it's a struggle!
And isn't that world fun and beautiful? It's been like I started completely over and I'm loving it!

Yes! Thank you so much. Creativity shouldn't have limitations, I agree. I hope you join me on this journey, it's already so much better!

Be happy!!
Thank you! And completely throw out the notion of trying to have a conversation with all their P&Ps. And yes to being happy!!!
Thank you! I struggled with how to tell it, and I thought this best represented how I feel. And the feedback today has been a delightful change!
Welcome to a new world. I’m excited to see what you produce. It’s like you’ve been reborn.
Thank you so much! And yes, totally reborn! I can't wait to share it all with you!
Best wishes as you step into this new season...
Thank you so very much!
I have been a Cardmaker for 14 years and use what ever I like, occasionally buy a set I like from SU. But I would never be confined to one brand. I’m happy for you and look forward to seeing your creations. I have subscribed. Hello from Australia
Thank you so much for your comments. I agree, being confined is not ideal at all. I can't wait to share all kinds of creativity with you!
Thrilled for your new journey!! Best husband ever!! Your life is yours …. Ps I am a new viewer and look forward to all you share on this new path!!
Thank you so much! I am thrilled to have you here and can't wait to share it all with you!!
Thank you so much for your kind words and your hugs!!! They are both greatly appreciated! It was not good in the past, but it's so good now!!!
Girl I totally understand and was part of the reason I left. I’m so sorry that people were so mean to you. But your husband was right this could be the best thing for you.
Thank you so much! I appreciate you saying all of this! I just looked you up and you have a new follower! I love your work!!!
@@ITeachStamping thank you. I’ve followed you for a long time and really hate that this is happening to you and others
It all adds up, doesn't it. Thank you so much for your good wishes and I hope you are still creating!
Best of luck to you as you transition to your positive changes, Meg! There is life beyond SU, and I’m sure they’ve lost plenty of customers over this pending court case of their daughter’s. It’s a very sad situation!
Thank you! I am so excited, I hope that came through! It is an awful situation, tragic, and I am sure they have too.
I am sorry you had to go thru all of that crap and meanest crap- I am so happy that you found a new path and I am happy to join you. I wish you all the best and I am so disappointed in SU.
I am delighted to have you with me for the next path!!! Thank you so much!
Thank you, thank you, thank you!!! I appreciate you so much!
Thank you so much for your encouragement. Congratulations on your 20 years! I felt the same way in July when I hit my 20.
Thank you! There are so many other great products, right?!?!? I hope it's the right decision for you also.
Love your story and that you have found JOY again! Don’t ever let anything or anyone tell you how to live your life! ❤
Yes! So very, very true! Thank you!!!
