well, ops adopted parrents is screwed big time. stolen 60k opening someones mail etc. cant tampering with mail give up to 10 years prison and 250k fine? and if each instance counts as a different offence and prison time (would think some prison sentence for the amount and severity here) we talking about up to 1 mill fines and 40 years in prison. done once might get away with a few months paying back the money and a few grand in fines but 4 times and it is a federal crime etc? it do not look good for the adopted parents thats for sure!
Insurance company lawyers will get every cent of that money back, plus interest, as they will want to close that case, and the theft of the payout will mean they still have it open. The parents will find out that the remodel of the back yard will be very nice, for the new owner of the house, because that is going to be confiscated and sold on auction, as a proceeds from crime sale, and they will not get a cent of any money from it either. Plus the prison time, and the fines, means they also lose any other assets as well.
Story 2 - Some people love to pick on others they think are disabled. I got Covid, was walking my dog, and this family comes over to try and pet him. I do the hand gestures that say please stay away (I also have a mask on), and they think it's hilarious I have a mask on outside...and their kid wants to pet my dog.
They get within 6 ft of me and my dog is sniffing their kids hand. The parents start making fun of me like I have some handicap wearing a mask outside. I'm on so much cold medicine I'm not working too fast...but I just say "uuuuuh, I have Covid" The parents look stunned and yank the kids arm so hard they lifted him off the ground making him scream...then book it. Never saw them again.
I worked in an office with a lady who had compromised immune deficiencies. being just a little bit curious, I asked her why no one went with her on break, she told me enough to let me know she was not "CONTAGIOUS" and that she was more at risk of dangerous infection than the people who avoided her. I ended up being one of her few friends. We washed our hands when we went to break or lunch. I enjoyed her company, and a few of my ( not part of the in group) friends sat with her. The "in group" ignored her because she was "different and scary". I was never an in group person, but I took people at face value. If you treated me OK, that was fine, if not, well, i just did not associate with rude people.
Last one: "mom" and "dad" are effed - Postal Inspectors are like Game Wardens, they have a few less restrictions than police and they don't give up!

The only thing I could find was that Op is in contact with a lawyer and filed with about 5 different agencies. Posted about a yr ago so the case may still be open.
Last story also report her to the postal service, opening tampering with the mail is a federal crime.

Stole checks story: Wow, I see mail fraud, grand larceny and insurance fraud at a minimum. And given that this occurs over several state lines this should raise it to the level of a felony over and above the mail fraud. You definitely need an attorney for this one. Contact your state's bar association to determine what type of lawyer you need.

I hope Op tells his parents that because of them stealing from him either you're going to be going into the worst nursing home possible or not ever going to look after him at all because of that because that money was going to be going towards his future which could have made him bigger money and he could have been able to have them live in a nicer place but now that's not going to happen.
My dead sisters ex boyfriend has been trying to get at my money “ its about 8,000 atm “ and its mostly due to my parents wanting me to give money to my other sister who quit her job and decided to do just farmers markets because she stared she can’t work with people who are a boss or whatever , the hilarious thing is the ex boyfriend is supposed to be under house arrest back in Wisconsin this is the 6th time he’s escaped , he was found trying to use my old social security number to get a new drivers license he was immediately arrested, im nc with my family as they keep saying i should give her all my money

Effectively HOA puts parking violation notices on the house nearest offending vehicle because HOA has exactly zero ability to enforce parking tickets/fines on any non member vehicle. Have received parking tickets in areas where thought I'd gotten a ticket for some reason only to see ABC HOA in the place where the municipality would be. Simply wadded up and tossed over my shoulder. Should note this was a regular neighborhood with public streets so HOA simply hoped you we wouldn't know they have zero authority and send the money.
The USPS is NOT an organization you do not want to mess with. They have all the power and capability of the FBI and then some for crimes involving the US mail. Imagine the FBI and Game wardens in 50 states, ALL mad at you
Practicality and understanding get in the way of HOA collecting those sweet, sweet fine money.

If the Street is a Public Street, the HOA can NOT create or enforce a CC&R about Street Parking...
The ONLY way an HOA can Legally create and Enforce a CC&R about Street Parking is if the Street is Privately Owned BY the HOA...and if that's the case, then it's the HOA that is Legally Responsible (and Liable) for everything that happens on it...they need to keep it in good repair, keep it snow and ice free etc.
If the HOA dose NOT Own the Street, then they can have the Unholy Howling HELL Sued out of them for Fraud and Harassment if they create and Enforce and Parking Rules for the Street...
We're going to need some further updates to that last story. That one is a doozy!
HOAs aren't a thing where I live in Canada. It amuses me that Americans, who are so vehement about their "liberty" and their right to defend said "liberty" with firearms are willing to live under the tyranny of their neighbours.

If they are public streets the HOA can't restrict parking.
Since they said the accident and settlement happened before they adopted him,did they just adopt him for the money? And kids don't pay monetarily for their parents raising them unless they want to,raising them is the parents choice.
Don't know how recent the sore throat story is but I should just point out that doctors never seem to know what all the causes for sore throats are. I even had my tonsils removed as a possible cause, which didn't help by the way. I eventually self diagnosed the cause as heartburn when the bile rises up and burns the back of the throat. Took steps to fix the problem which was successful. This went on for several years and NOT ONCE did a single doctor suggest heartburn.
I'll be getting my lawyer and telling HOA that if they want a police that corner they're going to have to get a camera put facing the drive way and they're going to have to pay my parents to have the ability to police that area is a form permission as well as compensation for their harassment of my family.
Last story….adopted parents about to be jailbirds. Oh and that house is about to be sold.

I'd recommend a criminal lawyer, if fraud can be proven, they're looking at Federal fraud charges, tampering with the mail is a Federal offense, punishable by 5 years at Club Fed, and a fine up to $250,000.
for each time they do it... which ads up fast, if you think you are entitled to something and so do it regularly.
On the last story, op I'm glad you took care of it, I hope they get or got jail/prison time. Updates when you can.

I would have pulled out my pocket notebook and wrote "I currently have lost my voice due to a nasty strep-throat infection and can't speak. I don't work here. Leave me alone or I WILL text the Police and have you Arrested for Harassment." then turn and continue shopping...
If they continue to Harass me, I'd pull out my phone and text the non-emergency Police number reporting the current Harassment and requesting an Officer to come here ASAP Please then I'd go to the Pharmacist and again using my notebook, ask her to call the Store Manager and Security to come here immediately...
