Looks great one piece of advice I will give you is when laying your mortar try to do just straight lines because when you swirl and you push the tile down it’s harder for the air to escape from the gaps and you wind up with air pockets under the tile But seeing as those are smaller tiles it won’t be much of an issue but if you were using large tiles like 12” x 24” you really want to make sure those grout lines are straight It’s important for all tiles but the bigger the tile gets the more air that will get trapped in the swirly lines
I have watched MANY DIY videos on laying tile floors.. this is by far the most helpful and informative of them all! Thank you for sharing your experience 😊
It looks SO beautiful! I am so impressed with Daves handyman skills and your videoing skills. I've enjoyed seeing the family life all around the project. The quality of the finished job is so precise and truly gorgeous! Nicely done! :)
Impressive task for someone who wouldn't think to pull the baseboards. Always recommend new trim with new floors. Trim is usually easy and cost 10% what the floor did. Looks incredible, I love the choice in tile!
Such a good hubby to take on such a difficult job and make it look so very easy, and I am so pleased to see that even your daughter uses power tools. Good for her!!
This guy has experience installing tile, herringbone layout is not the hardest layout but it is not the easiest either, so congrats to this ladies that ended up with a nice looking tile floor.
It looks beautiful but I have a question that might sound silly. You said to draw a center line on floor first and use that as guide to lay, but doesn't that line get covered when put the mortar on the floor?
I love the look. I’m currently living in a rented house and I have tile through out the whole house and I really don’t like it. It’s square and really hard to clean in my opinion. With kids spilling drinks or anything I find the grout always stays dirty looking. I told my bf when we build our own home we aren’t getting tile but I gotta say I really like the tile you guys used. It swayed me a bit lol. Your husband did and awesome job. 👍🏽
noticed you purchased them at floor and decor in slc (I live in Utah County) I was wondering if that is the Westford grey color I was thinking of doing this in a space and had to ask Thanks for sharing your project it looks great!
nukka003 I wish I knew the exact kind it was but I bet if you show them this video they will know exactly what it is. They are so knowledgeable! Best of luck to you!
The baseboards 😂, it's OK, we've all been there lol. At least you got some nice tight cuts up to it, but I hope you don't want to replace the baseboards anytime soon!
David Zetterberg Hello, hope this finds you well. Would you happen to have the Store, and sku# of the tile? Interested in having it installed in my kitchen.
Great job. I didn't see the DIY Diva do much of anything though. Glad to know I'm not the only who uses Crayola markers to mark cuts, lol. Don't do it on drywall though --it bleeds through --even with primer.
Lisa B the washable crayola worked really well, lol! Oh, and the DIY Diva did 50% of the demolition, 100% of the painting, 100% of the filming and editing of the video and blog post and photos. All else was done by handy dandy DIY Dave who loves to work with me, bless his heart. ❤️ #teamwork 🤗
Love this! Can you tell me about how many hrs went into just laying and finishing the tile? Trying to gauge if this will be an overnight or weekend project or longer. Thanks!
kevin stermer I’m not sure the name of the tile but we bought it at Floor and Decor in Utah. I’m sure if you call them or email them they can help you out! Good luck on your project!
amazing job one advise next time when you cutting tile out some safety glasses to you beautiful child is to close to the cutting area other than that excellent job
Pat Austin it’s been a while since we did this project so my memory has faded, but if we are only talking about installing the tile, it took a couple weeks working on it here and there after work. Our whole room was undone for a couple months as we chipped away at it slowly when we had free time.
You two do awesome work! Especially your husband. I can tell you’re definitely capable and probably did more work then shown because you were behind the camera, but the name of your channel! You should really rename it, give him some credit too. It kind of makes women look bad and I’m a woman btw. Edit: Sorry! I guess the only two videos I watched of yours just happened to involve your husband doing the majority of the work. I realized after looking at your video page that you’re doing most of your DIY jobs.
@@krisunderwood5912 No, not lazy, just stating a fact. With no height issues it`s a no brainer, nowadays, a lot of ceramic tiles are fitted before the kitchen units and we now have screed that will deal with that instead of having to rip up the old tiles which are often very difficult to remove. In this video there are no height issues and the doors could be adjusted easily. It`s certainly not a floor layers job to remove the old tiles, that`s down to the client and they have options.
Watched like 3min....no herringbone. I'm a Tiler by trade, just diamond grind the floors...all was too painful...typical DIY people, everything by pro's is too expensive, and everything done (the slow way) by them is so hard.... Arghh! I get that it maybe the first time, however....get the pro's in. Faster, and last longer. If you do not diamond sand the floors, it will "pop" in 5 years. Other than that, great video!
That old tile was soo beautiful! Sorry commenting early, can’t wait to see it finished!
Beautiful!!!
Im a professional tile installer and i must say great job.! You guys did awsome.
239FRS whew!! Thanks so much!
You are idiot they remove 3 scm for two weeks and you are okay realy
I love that everyone in the family is involved helping. Great family 😀😃😘

This is do it yourself divas?? Your man is doing everything! Lol
and that's why she's a diva
@@javahart007 I agree, and I am a woman. He deserves the credits
That’s what I said! God bless a hard working man.
The casual use of the word “we” when it’s really “he”. Nothing more diva than that shit. Lol

Beautiful work!

Much much respect for the time and attention to detail. Looks decent and better then many jobs I have seen over my career. I'm a tile installer.
Looks great!! I'm getting ready to do my kitchen, bathrooms and laundry rooms the same way.
Came out great! I wud have used slightly darker grout to hilight the design more
Beautiful family and you did a great job - my advice for next time is buy a wet tile saw its much quicker and cleaner cuts
Homeboy did a good job. This was excruciating to watch.
Well done and keep up the good work 👍👍👍
Excellent job. What brand 1/16” tile spacers did you guys use?
That is a gorgeous GSD
It looks beautiful but I have a question that might sound silly. You said to draw a center line on floor first and use that as guide to lay, but doesn't that line get covered when put the mortar on the floor?
Love the color and the pattern. A soon as get a house one day I'ma do this lol
It looks stunning... No wonder this type of installation is so expensive - it is a lot of work.
Man you did all that without a wet tile saw? Impressive!
Thank you so mush , this is exactly I ll do next week , amazing and I got green space between, GREAT JOB !!!
Why you don’t make baseboard with tile ?

Ms. Moses you are so sweet! The grout we used is supposed to be stain resistant. Only time will tell! 🤗
Looks great well done 👍but long did it take you all
mark choe probably a total of 10 hours. Thanks!
nice choice ! looks great-- where did you get the tile and what is the namebrand if you don't mind ?
Ergo thanks!! We got it from Floor and Decor in Utah, I’m not sure exactly what tile it is but you can call them and I’m sure they can tell you!

Great job.

You can put down a shoe mold that covers it up. Its done all the time
@@seanmcguire7974 The proper way to install a tile floor is to completely remove the base molding. Anything less is either amateur or lazy.
I’ve got a 100 year old house. Not sure I want to take them off. Just quarter round. Some of my walls are plaster.
I have been looking at this same tile for ten hours today.
David Zetterberg Hello, hope this finds you well. Would you happen to have the Store, and sku# of the tile? Interested in having it installed in my kitchen.

Great Video! I know I'm late to the party on this, but we are definitely sharing this on our social media!

Fabulous Job!

For channel called DIY divas. I sure am watching a lot of one man working. Haha just joking

Karissa Jones hi! Many many hours. I would guess 24.... but I can’t be sure since we worked on it a few hours here and there after work. Good luck!
I'm looking to do that to my bathroom what was the tile called and brand? I like that color with the white grout.

I know nothing about tile cutting, but was thinking the same thing! Or using power tools close to the dog
Good job guys...the saltillo tile looked pretty good also....too bad it had to go..
kevin ballesteros thank you!
Where can I purchase those spacers ? Thanks
Home Depot
you did so good
jsk jsk thank you!
I'm sure your husband just had a minor stroke when you mentioned you're putting a rug in there!
D Pavlovic hahaha! To this day we have no rug in there and it’s beautiful.
I'm a tile guy and am curious how long this took to complete.

What was sqft of room and cost for herringbone tile?
Fucking excellent job guys! That looks so good.
Beautifiul♥️♥️🇧🇷
What size tile did you use?
Could you share the brand and series of the tile?
I liked the previous floor though
Where did you get this tile and what it the color andbrand name?
jen W tile is from Floor and Decor in SLC Utah. I don’t know the brand or name.
What size are these tiles please?
a ladies do it yourself video where the bloke does 99% of the work. lmao. sounds about right :P
It's called equality.
lady starts project disappeared man did all the work then comes at the end to crown her success ,thats typically normal.
How long did this project take you?
ocdis4me we worked for a couple hours each evening for a couple weeks.
That was nice tile just needed a different paint job
What size tiles are they?

Kristen McClelland im not exactly sure but I got it at floor and decor in Utah. They can for sure get you the details!
You didn't glue them down?
Spoke too soon. Sorry
Do it yourself man with lady watching and making 🍵!!
Shoulda staggered the cement board. Nice job otherwise.
3:09 Jesus take it easy scared the living beep out of me
You could have primed and skimmed over the tiles.
No they couldn't
Would hit height issues meeting other floors plus the height of the patio door. Lazy tip.

First video that explains the center isn’t on the point of the pattern
Good job! Your "soundtrack" sucked, lol. Other than that it was awesome!!
Haha, thanks. Choosing music is not easy.
Should of used a smaller tile. Not bad for a beginner.
