    I could not control being motherless for over 6 years! I believed and God blessed me, but after 17 weeks, after finding out that the very child I prayed for was indeed a boy, he went to be with the Lord. I am believing again that God will do it again. I rolled with the punches, yes, I have! The shame, the embarrassment, the hurt, and frustration. Straightaway, I trusted again. He will not let me down.

    I was in a light sleep yesterday and I heard the name Hannah. I looked up the meaning of Hannah and wrote it in my journal. Well this morning I thought about Hannah and I found this sermon! I am thankful❤️.

    This is one of my favorite Bible stories and probably the one that touches my heart the most.
    I must mention that Penninah was really foul and made sure to make Hannah's life as miserable, tortured as possible, taunting her about her childlessness and reminding her about how fortunate she's been with big fertility, blessed womb.
    It's crazy that even in the Bible this behavior from women is mentioned and it still happens in present day, it's just that nobody talks about it so they get away with. I've seen this a lot, including from fertile women in my family, childhood friends, who've used my barrenness as a target point for their attacks, basically picking on my pain. It made me reconsider who is genuinely for me.
    It's been 16+ plus yrs of this extremely trying times as it's so personal and what makes it worse is never having seen justice for any of it, if anything, God has continued to bless them with more children even after they've turned His blessing into a "weapon of choice" to inflict pain onto a childless woman.
    Regarding this Bible story, I will never be able to understand women like Penninah that have the capacity to be so cruel and heartless, using something as sacred and beautiful as motherhood...for something dark, sick, twisted.
    By the way, I see a pattern here with Biblical barren women like Hannah, Sarah, Rachel and Rebekah, the latter who was Sarah's daughter-in-law, well they all had very special children blessed by God; they made a huge part of the Bible, even made into the bloodline of Jesus!

      I know exactly how you feel 💔🙏. It's probably the most painful thing that could happen to a woman. The Israeli culture believes that barrenness/infertility is the most cruel punishment from God. I feel that they're right. The apathetic reaction and sometimes even "jabs" from other young, fertile mothers doesn't make it any better.

    Brother Jenkins, thanks for your well-prepared presentation. May I ask your opinion? At Duet 6:7 parents are commanded to train their own children to love God. So why do you think God blessed Hannah's plan to have Eli (who was not such a great father) raise Samuel? (I have an idea about this, but I'd like to know yours.)

    Can somebody help me here please? Her husband asks her...Am I not better than anything you could have, yet hes spreading his seed having the time of his life and can't even for a moment understand her position? How does he represent God when he's livin it up with another wife? I completely understand Pastor Jenkins point about not being so consumed with something but c'mon let's get down to the real stuff here. Am I wrong?

    • @ethiopianabesha
      @ethiopianabesha 5 лет назад +2

      No. I have the same question/thought. . . .that is NOT the GOD I worship or have a loving relationship with. If he represents God. . . .I think I better get into 1 Samuel again and STUDY it so Holy Spirit can help me resolve Pastor Jenkin's statement.

      Candida Berweger yes you’re wrong in your comprehension of the text.

    • @terrell8347
      @terrell8347 4 года назад +1

      That question is within context, the context of Elkanah's family going to Shiloh to worship and sacrifice to the Lord. He is a Levite (his relevant genealogy is in verse 1) and his name means [God has possessed or God has created] whose reason for going is from Deuteronomy 12, in verse 12 it mentions that it's to be done with "your son's, and your daughter's..." which Hannah didn't have. The portion given was to be sacrificed (belief not fully studied yet) so Hannah has twice the amount to sacrifice to the Lord but no son to do it with, which is what she wanted. So the question he's asking is 'aren't I and a double portion to sacrifice with better than a single portion to sacrifice with 10 sons'. Hope this helps, this is a great story btw. (Edited for a typo)

    • @terrell8347
      @terrell8347 4 года назад

      Also, this portion of the story is about son's... Hannah's contrasted to Eli's.... you have to read all of chapter 1& 2 for the full contrast. Look at Hannah's (whose name means grace) character versus that of Eli's (whose name means elevated, or ascension) and what happens with their sons. They are represented or shown in different lights. The word 'son' is repeated 7 times in the first 8 verses letting you know that's important. Eli and his sons almost seems like a random entry until you get further down in the story.
      I believe the text directs your attention on Hannah not Elkanah primarily. She's the dominant character in this story. Be blessed!!!

    The level of outright disrespect and insults to women, no less women of God and SPECIFICALLY HIS WIFE.. The preacher just left that example for every boy, young man, teenage boy grown man and old men alike. Hannah was Godly and the Lord heard and answered her prayers. She is an example of selflessness because she gave Samuel back to God, leaving her little boy at the temple. Why don't you try to stick with the Bible and leave out the jokes. Pray for wisdom. Although, outrageous comments like the ones made here, lead me to believe the "preacher" has no idea he needs wisdom, and discernment. God help the women in his congregation.
