- '91 Toyota Land Cruiser HDJ81 with 1HD-T is receiving diesel injector service. New nozzles cured excessive fuel consumption, smoking and elevated idle RPM.
I am neither a diesel mechanic, not a professional content creator. I am just an observer with a set of lucky fingers, so use this material at your own risk.
This basically a FYI comment. When working with diesel injection it is impossible to be too clean. Use a clean well drained metal surface. Use only lint free rags. Reassemble wet with fuel. When testing the injectors have a fan with a gentle breeze behind you and squirt into a jar/tin. Never put any part of the your body into the path of the injector spray. At a pressure greater than 10 psi it can bypass your skin. At 2000 psi it will punch a hole in the body and enter the blood vessels.
You did well to get that diesel landcruiser into the states😊.
I sold her while ago, just brought HDJ101 to replace.
Haha love the commentary
Where did you buy the fuel injector nozzles from
Thanks for making the video... is there a special tool needed to get the injectors out of the enginge maybe a slide hammer tool?
if anyone is wondering Pn# for nozzles are denso DLLA150P77
it was not hard to pull them out with basic tools, no special tool was needed.
Nice Job & nice result 👍🏼
can you guide me how to replace nozzle
you done those big end bearings recently?? :)
I did, about 4k km before I sold it, very little deterioration found.
Was it blowing white smoke at idle? I have a 1hd ft that I think needs an injector service.
Exactly, very smelly, especially in the cold weather.
Try adjusting enrichment on the fuel pump, before you go all the way.
@@Simple_Classic_Carsadjusting the pump or more fuelling?
Are there any rubber parts inside the nozzle? If there are rubber parts I use a large amount of injector cleaner will it damage the rubber in the injector?
There are no rubber parts inside injectors.
Injector service? You pulled them apart and put them together..... didn't bother to adjust them I see..... Good luck with your uneven egts 👍
I replaced nozzles and it worked out perfectly fine, no smoke and much better fuel economy. Please do a better video on how to "adjust" them.
@@Simple_Classic_Cars uneven shims? All mixed together. No flow rates. Pull them now and get them on a test bench.... cost next to nothing for them to calibrate and fit new spacers
Do those bottom end bearings! 134,000 they would be due
Done 2 years ago at 131k. Original ones were very good with only few tiny pits in them.
Awesome! Whats the torque spec for the nozzle retainer i’ll be replacing my nozzles very soon 😉
FYI, a well maintained engine using good quality oil will do at least 400,000 before even considering looking at the big end bearings. My own 1hd-fte has 439000 km on it, never been touched. No substitute for using the right grade of good oil.
where'd you get the rebuild?
I did rebuild myself, got parts on eBay from UK.
@@Simple_Classic_Cars how much this
Which brand do you buy? Do you have the link where do you buy it?
what part of ohio are you in?
Columbus
Can you link to the rebuild kit and injector test tool
