Fans or No Fans, It's still great to see SMU showing a Competitive and Dominating Spirit!
I was there for homecoming and it was pouring all morning. the truth about the fanbase is that they are aging and the younger alumni and student body are more interested in being in the right "scene" which is unfortunately NOT at the game. That being said they just need to win and get ranked before anyone else around Dallas cares. If they get into the ACC and compete the fans will show up. But they MUST win out this season and start next year really strong.
I mean turnout for the game was better than I expected considering the weather
The fact that SMU football was killed with the death penalty when the NCAA forbade football for one year and the university nailed on a second year which effective killed the program. Here we are 36 years later and SMU cannot get out of that shadow.
Its a sad sight to see so many empty seats in the stadium and the camera operators doing their best to focus on the field and not the empty stadium takes work.
As UH fan I'd love to see SMU rise from the ashes. We see now how badly the death penalty can really be one. Today football coaches turn in their own teams and get lighter sanctions that if the NCAA has to investigate.

I was a student and graduated in 1982. Most of my close friends are still huge fans. Mustang Mania is back. Saturday at Texas Stadium was always electric. They are clearly back big time

that’s because apparently they’re loaded with boosters. you should look up their cheating scandals back in the day. *that* is why they’re in the ACC. SMU also agreed not to be a on tv, only on their local TVs because they think they have the money to cover it
