Last Year I bought XXIO driver, 3 wood, 5 wood and 5 hybrid. I went with Srixon Z585 irons and Cleveland CBX 2 wedges. I could not be happier . To complete the Srixon package I recently started using the Q Star Tour ball !. I’m 66 and play off 17 . I’ll be using them on the links in Kent again tomorrow ! Tim
I'm like Ronnie. To change out his 5 is to admit that " I am not as young as used to be!" My father RIP would not club up when he knew he couldn't reach the hole. When he turned 89 years old he got the message. He was going to use his 9 iron to a par 3 120 yard hole. I told him to club up to his eight iron. He made his first hole in one, ever! He had been playing since he was 12 years old and working his way to a scratch golfer in his sojourn to 50+ years old. I am now 65 (Ronnies age) and always look to technology to gain that extra edge to stay competitive. I choose the advantage over my peter pan syndrome. Keep up the good work. I always walk away with pearls of wisdom after watching your vlog. JK in Ga.
I absolutely love how after the first two shots with the hybrid, Ronnie was completely speechless. A 5i that runs 10+ yards vs a solid hybrid shot that only rolls 4 yards is a game changer on course
Just got an email about TXG and Arccos golf partnership. So awesome. I wish I was in Canada to get fitted for you guys on my next clubs!! You're both great for golf.
Question to Jack Nicklaus "How do you stop a 1 iron?" Jack "How far do hit your 1 iron?" reply "145 yards" Jack "Why do you want it to stop?" enough said.
GREAT review and so glad I found your channel !! I cannot wait until the snow is gone here in Canada so I can get out with my new XXIO clubs !! I am 60 and just got "back into" playing over the past few years with my 30 year old son and his buddies. Trying to keep up with the kids is tough.. swinging WAY too hard with my Calloway irons and Sim Max2 woods then just feeling "beat-up" after each round !! So after some reading and seeing channels like yours=THANKYOU, I grabbed a used set of XXIO Eleven 6-PW irons at the end of last season (September) and after consciously working on slowing down my swing speed during the one time I got out with the XXIO irons before the snow, I was quite impressed. Fast forward to December took a trip to Florida and took only the XXIO irons and truly fell in love with these new irons. I picked up a matching 5 hybrid and was amazed at the launch height and descent angle landing and sticking on 180+ yard shots which my old 4-5 irons would NEVER do= run through always. So now I have just added the XXIO Eleven 9.5 ° - driver, the 15°- 3 wood and 9.5° -7 wood and ready to go kick some young golfers A**es !! Thank you for your review and for pumping up my tires as I cannot wait to get out with these XXIO clubs !!! I encourage all "seasoned" golfers to give these a try if you get he chance and will report back on the new woods in the spring.I am still playing Pro V1 so that is the next advice you give that I will try is to go to a lower compression ball.
Hey, Rocket Ronnie is back, my Hero! I still carry a 5 Iron but it's only used for getting out from the trees, I call it my Tree Iron! lol That hybrid sounded nice by the way.
I conceded to Titleist 19, 23, & 25 hybrids this last year and it’s made a huge difference. I’ve adjusted lofts for gapping, but it’s been great! Great video guys. Also recently replaced the 3 wood with a 5 wood for better flight and only gave up a few yards. Crazy adjustments needed to compensate for age and injuries, but now have realistic chances of holding greens past 150 yards again.
The talk of the ball being perfect for Ronnie is something I looked at after seeing some of your golf ball videos. Bought the tp5x pix, do lose som spinn and lower launch a bit. Bonus for the visual aid when putting. Only one round in, but shot a pb at my home course. And it felt like the ball did all it should. Great video again on getting a fitting and getting the right equipment. ⛳⛳⛳
Not sure if you’ve done one yet but a video with either the Cleveland launcher irons or t-rail cobras with a senior golfer would be cool to see if they have a similar effect.
Loved this video. I just turned 62 and am taking up golf again after 20 years. When I was putting a set together i didn't realize I was choosing specs that fit me back then and don't suit me now. Most golf channels cater to the young buck I used to be. Retirees need more data we can relate to. Do you benefit from new technology at slower swing speeds? Are there clubs that are immune to shaft flex differences at slower speeds? Role of lighter shaft weights regardless of flex? Use Ronnie more Please!
More people should go into fittings with Ronnie's mindset. Does his research. Opinionated but not overbearing. Willing to try but not submissive. Kudos.
Happy for Ronnie! For many we should be open to change when data is compelling. Also just shows that our swings and bodies change over our lifetime sometimes more than our ego. Haha. Great video!
Yes they are wasted in a place you can only play golf 5 months of the year I am in Australia and if they did a working holiday i would book in like a shot hint hint!
Kudos to Ronnie: you are a proper golfer for sure! You recognize the best tool for your game and don't let ego get in the way. You can stroke the ego as you up your GIR from 170 out :) If only I can convince my senior golfing dad to retire his 3-5i. I will be showing him this video.
Being a senior I've gone to 18, 20 and 23* Mavrik hybrids, didn't take my 5 and 6 irons out of the bag as I still use them in certain situations. I did take my 3-wood out of the bag.
Loved finding this vid today. I'm 59, swing speed mid-upper 80's and 12 HC. Gotta good short game yet need to get more distance from my full swing and hit more greens from 150 in to decrease my HC. I went for a full bag fitting last week. Fitter to me: What brand do you prefer? Me: Let the trackman data dictate the club/shafts. Fitter: ok. we spent the better part of three hours over two days fiddling with shafts, irons, hybrids, fairway woods and driver. I never knew what clubhead I was handed (well, I knew the Callaway arrow on the driver crown). The XXIO irons, hybrids, and woods felt, sounded, and performed exceptionally well. Every swing felt perfect at impact. Went with the Mizuno irons as they were $150 less per club. Ended up with a crazy mix of Callaway Mavrik driver (STD length), XXIO woods, hybrids(+1/2in), Mizuno irons (+3/4") and Titleist wedges. Can't wait until they come in and we do the micro-fitting to tune them.
Ronnie is hitting a # 6 hybrid here. 29 degrees. Its kinda equivalent to my 28 degree Taylormade # 6 hybrid. Very interesting. He hits that pretty far and well. Great job with that!!! Very impressive. Question gentlemen. How much longer of a shaft did you guys put on it than the normal length for a hybrid ?????? Thanks for this. I hope you guys set Ronnie up with more hybrids. They have done wonders for me. This was an awesome review/study.
I just turned 50 this month. I'm a 5 handicap and have been playing 5 hybrid for 8+ years. Getting rid of long irons and moving to hybrids was a complete game changer for my game. Gave me allot of confidence from 180 - 210 yards out.
I always find that when you talk about 'Season' that it is a strange idea. Living in Southern Australia we tend to have 'bad days' rather than the inability to not play for 'only a season'. Always good to see a Senior like myself on, as being in my late 60s and having a slightly higher swing speed than Ronnie, good to have ideas to think about when looking to get fitted. 👍👍👍👍
Great video! As a more mature player myself, I'm convinced it's time to look at replacing my 5 iron and checking my gaps with the rest of my set. Keep up the great work guys!
Just one of the reasons TXG test equipment the best. Different golfers with different deliveries testing the appropriate products. If anything you guys could expand this even further. Some videos with chronic slicers, steep swingers, shallow pickers etc would be great.
Get 175 carry with my 27* iron but was not consistent with my 24*. Can't hit hybrids but tried several crossovers a week ago and the TM GAPR Mid 24* worked great for me with 185 carry on the golf course. Some people just don't like (or can't hit) hybrids and I found the crossover to be a great alternative for long irons from fairway, rough and tee. They are not just a driving iron.
I love playing hybrids my self. I have the Taylormade Sim in the # 3,4 and 5. Taylormade M6 in the # 6 at 28 degrees and a Ping G 410 that i have set at 31.5 degrees. Here's to the hybrids!!!
Are you going to do a video on the new partnership with arccos? Currently use it and love it. Would like to see how you will integrate it into your fitting sessions. Thanks
Ian loved the video I'm in the same bracket as ronnie struggle to get the carry with my 5 iron my issue would be you saying there slightly longer would there be another similar option to look at being 5ft5 and very flat swing
Ronnie is a legend and a great addition to the channel. If you ever need someone between Matt and Ronnie for some content, I would be more than happy for you to fly me out ;)
I had to swallow my pride when it came to hybrids because I started to realize I could hit my 7 iron just as far as I did my 6 and 5 iron. G410 hybrids changed everything for me. Have to remember it is a scorecard not a post card.
Love the videos lads!!! I'm a new golfer but can play a little I'm just wondering if you can point me in the right direction on getting shaft fitting in NZ
I have similar swing speed and age to Ronnie. I can no longer differentiate between the 6 iron and 5 iron they both travel low with lots of roll out. Approach shot end up either short in the bunker or land on the from and roll of the greens. I have 3 and 4 hybrids which Are very easy to hit but need a 155 ish carry and 165 ish carry. The Cleveland Srixon XXIO rep is coming next week I’m on the schedule to try the XXIO. I don’t care how many head cover I have. Great video thanks!
I have a really old Callaway 7 wood which I still bring out occasionally and does the same job as a 4 iron....but better. Hybrids have filled that slo5 now but it is still a great option
Awesome video.. I have normal speed 6i about 85mph and I'm thinking about losing the 5i this makes me want too even more. I just hit the thin low flighted slice
It’s not like you have to take a club out of the bag and banish it. You can put it back in the bag now and again to try it out, maybe it works well in certain conditions like wind or when it’s really warm
So when moving from a lets say 4 iron at 22 degrees and 5 iron at 25 degrees, what loft should we be looking for in a hybrid? I ask because Ronnie I believe is hitting a 7 hybrid to replace his 5 iron.
Great video, as always. Do you guys have any plans to review or test the new Tour Edge pro forged irons or the new line of Tommy Armour milled putters in any upcoming videos? Those look like pretty interesting products.
How about 5h ? Even thought more loft for distance (for compansate miss hits and chunks for average golfer) , equalize it shorter shaft for more center hits and precision ?
great video, if your ever looking for a middle aged 20 handicapped golfer .. Ill volunteer my services.. so cool to see the differences that can be achieved with a great fitting.
I replaced my 5 irons for a ts2 hybrid. I’m not loving it. It is super fast. I much prefer my titleist 816 h1 hybrids any recommendations on what to look at hybrid wise?
I'm a 2.8 handicaper. I have TS3 19 and 23 hybrid. I don't like my 5 iron at 27 deg. I have a hard time to hit it well. Would you recommend someone like me to get a 25 deg TS3 hybrid and change the the loft for my 23 hybrid into 22 deg. Then I would have 19, 22 and 25 deg. I also thinking to get the 17 deg TS3 hybrid and set it to 16 deg. I can't hit big woods as 3 and 5 woods. I don't like the big heads. The I would have driver + 4 hybrids (16, 19, 22, and 25 deg). Is that a good setup for a low handicap player? My carry with the 5 iron is 174 meter and it rolls out to 184-186 meters.
I don’t want to offend anyone with this comment, but the first thing I thought of when I watched this was “I need to get these for my wife,” who wants to begin playing golf! My dad is probably going to be ready for a similar product soon, as well.
I can't help but think Ronnie's 6 iron won't be tons better than his 5 iron. Maybe let him test the Cleveland HB's? We know someone who's a big fan of those.
@@clubchampionmedia - Thanks! I still swing my 5-iron between 84-86 MPH and get plenty of height with it (plus I get 175 yards of carry with the strong-lofted 5-iron), so I guess the 21* hybrid will still be the only hybrid in my bag for a while.
Ian fitted me with a full XXIO set late last year. I am 70 and only started golfing a few years ago. Love the clubs.
Great to see Ronnie back on the channel, love the fact that you guys vary your testers.
Last Year I bought XXIO driver, 3 wood, 5 wood and 5 hybrid. I went with Srixon Z585 irons and Cleveland CBX 2 wedges.

I absolutely love how after the first two shots with the hybrid, Ronnie was completely speechless. A 5i that runs 10+ yards vs a solid hybrid shot that only rolls 4 yards is a game changer on course
Ronnie...Nice job. Watching Mattie swing is like watching a robot (perfect), so I can certainly relate more to Ronnie's swing. Great video!

As a senior golfer who is returning after 25yrs away, these videos are brilliant and so informative. Thanks lads! 👊
I love these types of videos. What would seem to be a simple club change and to see such a dramatic improvement is fun to watch.
you guys are by far the best learning golf chanel ! keep up the good work Matt and Ian
Thank you. As a senior, 71 year old golfer, these are really helpful!

Great video with Ronnie getting fitted to a XXIO hybrid. I know several senior golfers gaming XXIO clubs and they love them. 👍🏼

Very impressive improvement!...Good work Ronnie.
its always such a pleasure to have ronnie on the show! gives me (a young guy that swings slow) hope!
Ronnie’s open mindedness really shows how willing he is to improve his game! Love the fit lads.

Great video. I like these types of videos with your "average weekly golfer"
Curious how he would do with the Cleveland Launchers.
I wish we had a TXG in the US. Love you guys
Seriously!!
Yes they are wasted in a place you can only play golf 5 months of the year
I am in Australia and if they did a working holiday i would book in like a shot hint hint!
Sorry Ben, Phoenix/Scottsdale is where it WILL happen!🙏🙏🤞🤞❤️⛳️
Long shot indeed
Thanks guys i always look forward to your content great to watch
Completely agree Ben, we have literally nothing like TXG down under!

Great to see Ronnie back in the fitting bay! 👍
Wow, these 17min flew by.

Loving the videos with Ronnie.

Man. You guys are so good. This was fantastic.
Really good. I’m not quite where Ronnie is, but getting there fast! 👍🏼

Pls more “high” (15-21) handicappers testing and fitting. We’re the majority!!! What Mizuno golf ball?
Terrific episode.
Great information for senior golfer. What ball did you mention is good for 80 mph swing? Thank you🏌🏻♀️
I have a really old Callaway 7 wood which I still bring out occasionally and does the same job as a 4 iron....but better. Hybrids have filled that slo5 now but it is still a great option
my 5 hybrid is my fav club, going to put 4/5 and 6 hybrids in my next set.
Love the not quite as popular clubs getting a little light shown on them, is there any possibility of a ben hogan putter review?
Awesome video.. I have normal speed 6i about 85mph and I'm thinking about losing the 5i this makes me want too even more. I just hit the thin low flighted slice
I need this guy in my group. Just his calm speaking might control my tempo:)
Call me a Ronnie clone lol. Great info in a great vid. More Ronnie please :)
How would you compare these to the PXG GEN2 hybrids?
Great stuff. What is the Mizuno ball referred to?
RB Tour X
It’s not like you have to take a club out of the bag and banish it. You can put it back in the bag now and again to try it out, maybe it works well in certain conditions like wind or when it’s really warm
Love my hybrids. Been playing Apex in 23 and 26 and I’m only 43. If Callaway made Apex in 29, I’d buy that too.
So when moving from a lets say 4 iron at 22 degrees and 5 iron at 25 degrees, what loft should we be looking for in a hybrid? I ask because Ronnie I believe is hitting a 7 hybrid to replace his 5 iron.
Can you change the grip on these or will that mess up the swing weight, I think it’s counterbalanced?
Great video guys
Nice clubs, I have a 4 HB XXIO, HITS VERY NICE A LITTLE LOUD BUT GETS THE BALL UP NICELY
I'd like to see Ronnie test the matching driver, fairway woods and irons, i bet it'll work.
Great video, as always. Do you guys have any plans to review or test the new Tour Edge pro forged irons or the new line of Tommy Armour milled putters in any upcoming videos? Those look like pretty interesting products.
Tour Edge is sending us a bunch of stuff to test 👍
I enjoyed Ronnie's hitting then ball with height!
I use my 5 iron only to get out of the trees and not out on the fairway.
Matt’s shirt is something else. I’ll say it every time I see it lol
😆 two more appearances before it's retired from the channel
@@clubchampionmedia Ian often wears Galvin GREEN but if you cut him open, he's BLUE thru-n-thru
I have a lot of swing speed, so that it doesn't apply to me. However, I'm curious, how many hybrids should Ronnie carry then?
As many as he can!! 😂
@@ianfrasergolf , hard to argue with that seeing the results!!
do you have an iron review available
How about 5h ? Even thought more loft for distance (for compansate miss hits and chunks for average golfer) , equalize it shorter shaft for more center hits and precision ?
Good to see Ron back maybe he can hit the X driver.
great video, if your ever looking for a middle aged 20 handicapped golfer .. Ill volunteer my services.. so cool to see the differences that can be achieved with a great fitting.
Get Ronnie into some Cleveland Launcher HB’s!
I had a Cobra Baffler 29* and a similar swing speed to your man; 5 irons be damned!
I don’t want to offend anyone with this comment, but the first thing I thought of when I watched this was “I need to get these for my wife,” who wants to begin playing golf! My dad is probably going to be ready for a similar product soon, as well.
I don’t think that’s a bad thing to think or say, these clubs are sooooooo easy to hit so why not have your wife and Dad look at them.
I was hoping Ronnie was going to do the XXIO irons as well. I'm very curious to see how they would perform for him as a slower swing speed player.
I may have missed it but what model xxio hybrid is Ronnie hitting? Was it Prime?
I've tried the previous iteration and they are fantastic but just way to costly for my pockets
Ronnie’s numbers are almost spot on my numbers. I’m all ears...a 29 degree hybrid is something Dr. Kendall has mentioned.
Ronnie!!!
Way to go Rocket Ronnie. I smell a re-fit coming up.
I can't help but think Ronnie's 6 iron won't be tons better than his 5 iron. Maybe let him test the Cleveland HB's? We know someone who's a big fan of those.
At what point (swing speed, shot distance, etc.) do you recommend removing the 5-iron from a golfer's bag and replacing it with a hybrid?
when the carry and total are separated by too much (10+ yards) and/or peak height is below 70ft.
Great stuff
Shout out to Eagle Creek, that's a great course. (ok I'm biased. I drive past it every day)
