- Beijing Flag Raising Ceremony 北京升旗仪式. I got to go on a quick trip to Beijing with CRI Online in May and it was incredible! One of my favorite things we did was the flag raising ceremony at Tiananmen Square. I loved the experience so much and the crazy thing is I got pretty emotional. I couldn’t stop thinking about what a privilege it is to be proud of where you come from. There are so many people around the world without that luxury. We all have many differences and no person or country is perfect, but that shouldn’t stop us from being kind. I hope you enjoy this video! If you know china's recent history, it would make it more emotional, the recent 100 years china's humiliation history and how china is being treated unfairly and disrespectful at international level (which still is now). To see china now today way stronger than before and stronger military to protect its people. The feeling is great, Chinese people can finally be proud to be who they are. Of course there are still lots of areas to improve but at least its processing. Just hope that the west world and china can eventually comes to an agreement to peace, hope the west no longer see china as a threat. China has never invade other countries, most Chinese people are peaceful just want have a chill life. I don't get why US see china as a threat, and all the western media only say shits about china. But its great to see foreign friends to enjoy china and show the west a justified true china.

Having lived in both in China and the USA, I can safely say that Chinese patriotism is at whole different level of high. I think two major factors contributed to the Chinese patriotism: a long history of continuing civilization, and western power invasions in the recent two hundred years.

From a true old time Beijinger, the REAL Beijing roast duck is 'Liqun Roast Duck Restaurant' not 'Quanjude'. The imperial chef that got fired from the Manchu court who then went on to work at Quanjude (which was the first restaurant in Beijing to be two stories tall) quit after the general manager started to McDonaldize the Beijing landmark dish. His great grandson then went out and opened Liqun in Qianmen to maintain the original flavor. Supposedly they kept it original to this day by still using the right duck fed by the canal and pear wood for the fire. I would try it if you got the time.

the exchange of picture taking with the minorities was great. recently some of my friend stop believing the "global village" was possible because of all the negative hate on russia, they think globalism will be in decline and the west would insulate itself from the rest that "do not share their value". but looking at these video, it remind me that what the international media show us, really represent the view of a minority, and the majority of people in this world doesn't want the world to go back to the past. I really can't wait for the chinese spacestation to be completed so people from other country can visit it, together with the progress of spacex, humanity may finally be able to get off this rock and start realising our destiny as children of earth. that we will tell the universe that we are from earth.

Man, beautiful videos like this - and all of China, in general, the more I learn about it - honestly remind me of why I love Communism with all my heart and will be a Marxist-Leninist until the day that I die. I think I saw some comments of people wondering why this is never done in many western countries, especially America? For this reason, I would like to try and offer an explanation. It is my own subjective opinion, based on the information I have exposed myself to and the observations I have made, so you can agree or disagree with it, that's fine.
Well, first of all, the reason why it _is_ done in a Socialist country, like China, is because Socialism is fundamentally an internationalist ideology that seeks cooperation between all nationalities and all ethnicities of the world, regardless of arbitrary characteristics, like skin color. Socialism is more or less the conviction that true democracy must be political, as well as economic; that the wealth and resources of this world must belong and rightfully _do_ belong to all of its people and not only a select few. In other words, internationalism and peaceful collaboration is an integral part of Socialism that cannot be seperated from it and is aligned with its goals. If you are a Socialist country, it is within your interest to seek out mutually beneficial relationships with other countries and discard all things that divide humanity - racism, sexism, all forms of gender discrimination, class discrimination, etc. - as these are hostile to your aims.
The same can't be said of western Capitalist countries. In fact, if anything, quite the opposite is true for them; as Capitalism is fundamentally a hypercompetitive system that is rigged in favor of some and _against_ others, winners and losers eventually emerge. Far from bringing about mutually beneficial collaboration, the strong and privileged are instead given every incentive to dominate the weak and downtrodden. What this means, in practice, is that those countries who have been historically lucky enough - whether it be due to access to more resources, more favorable climate/weather conditions or other geographical advantages - engage in imperialism to enrich themselves. In other words, strong and rich countries extract resources from weak and impoverished countries, in order to make themselves even stronger and richer, while the exploited countries become even weaker and poorer. Western countries have a long record of engaging in imperialism; most notably the Spaniards, the British, the Dutch, the Portuguese and most recently, the Americans, although this really applies to _all_ western countries. Of course, the ordinary people of those countries benefit relatively little from that imperialism, compared to wealthy business owners and corporate CEOs. For this reason, it is very useful for the wealthy to divide the poor by whatever means they can - race, sexuality, gender, class; anything they can do to keep people fighting amongst each other and stop them from calling out the unfairness of a system that produces and incentivizes such gross wealth inequalities, is completely in the interest of those wealthy few, who benefit from that system. It's no secret, after all, that America is a white supremacist, trans/homophobic patriarchy, where a few people own half of the country's wealth.
Whether you have someone like John Mearsheimer, who openly says things like "America won't tolerate any competition" (referring to China, specifically) or someone like Antony Blinken, who puts it somewhat more formally, when he says that "countries need to follow a rules-based, international order" (also referring to China), the message is the same: "We want to remain the dominant imperialist country in the world and if you try to cut into our profits, then you've got another thing coming."
Anyway, I hope that at least gives _something_ of an answer to your question(s) regarding the different attitude towards other countries.

For most people, it is our second nature to have that sense of belonging to and proud of the collectives. But it really needs a good heart and some common sense (which are getting fewer these days) to appreciate things that you have the chance to experience in an abroad land. It is a lot more difficult to have that true integrity to interact with our neighbors as good samaritans.
If we can just look at each other as people and not as someone from a specific country the world would be a better place ❤️

I particularly love how you and your family come across as completely non-racist (unlike here in Europe) and hope most, if not all, Chinese you guys come across don't mistreat/abuse you like many of us experience life with whiteys. @Living Asian 11:40 Apparently for you there is only "yang" and no "yin". The dark side (the "yin") of China has dominated from 2018 until today. Emphasizing the "yang" is easy but talking about the "yin" is difficult. That goes for all of us!
