I wish I had your attitude, Charles. My brain is 95% sarcastic cynicism, especially since lockdown... over 3 years ago. Maybe I need a therapist. For now though, I think I need to play more music. I ordered a Suzuki 5 string Taishogoto last week and it should be here within the next few days. Gonna rig up a motor and try to make a hurdy-gurdy too lol ✌💗🤘

Facebook sucks. I have a brother who passed away and we memorialized his Facebook page. After about six months, pictures started showing up on his page from who we assume is the person who the phone carrier gave his old number to. When I contacted Facebook about this, and I gave a complete rundown of what was going on, their response was that my deceased brother had to contact Facebook himself to address the issue.

These social media companies have far too much power, they can do whatever they want with no explanation, no regulation, and no guilt.
For many, it would be the same as a landlord just deciding to shut down someone's shop and never speaking to them about it whatsoever. Obviously this would never fly. It should be the same when someone has a following like this and makes a business out of posting videos on the platform, etc. There needs to be better contractual requirements once you activate a business related account status.

The problem is there IS regulation. Many of these companies answer to the government. Politicians have no one's best interests in mind and only want to consolidate power amongst themselves like mobsters.
They are obligated to follow the law though... and cancel culture is a human rights crime...@chetsenior7253
I personally really appreciate your attitude. It takes a lot of class to make a video with the information you shared without getting negative. You play masterfully, and it's refreshing that you are humble and don't hate on the social network that deleted your information and has not responded or helped.
They owe you an answer and an apology.

15 years and third of a million followers, I think they owe him a third of a million followers.
What's disappointing is that they have all these legal protections as a common carrier entity, but they still get to act like a private clubhouse. Maybe they have good lawyers who argue somehow they get to do that (or corrupt judges who agree), but wasn't supposed to be like that in spirit.
They are supposed to be publicly transparent and accountable, only sanctioning users on behalf of law enforcement, not at their discretion. That was the price for deferred liabilities. Sickening that they get the best of both worlds.
No one will ever get a meaningful apology from Facebook. If they were truly sorry for the harm they cause, they wouldn't keep doing what they're doing. They exploit people with the lure of a "free" service that exploits the personal info of users, and compromises their privacy & security. Not what I would call "free".

But I feel that it needs to be pointed out that "Online computer services", aka web-sites, "Social media" etc... are NOT common carriers under the law NOR are they publishers. ((unless You specifically refer and limit Your reasoning to Texas and Florida's attempt at making them so)). That was the very essence of "section 230".
And I must admit to being curious what has given You the impression that they are only supposed to sanction ((aka moderate and censor)) on behalf of law enforcement ???

Everywhere on the internet is, comments on youtube musician stuff is an unlikely exception. back in the early 2000's it was a very different story though, very toxic. I'm glad it changed for the better

I deleted Facebook years ago and I am glad I did. It sucks up too much time and its a repository of drama and bad information. You have been an inspiration as a musician, and, while I'm not sure you are actually human ( LOL) I am grateful to you for that. Keep doing what you do.

I did it too, 2 months ago, and I'm glad to have my mind out of selfishness, political comments, bots, and people who 'master' every topic and want to 'educate you'...
I think it's been about 3 1/2 years since I deleted facebook, and I don't miss it at all. I spent way too much time on that garbage website. The only good thing that came from it was realizing that the people that are in my life now matter way more than the people that were in my life 30 years ago.
I haven't been on since 2016 and I don't miss it at all. The funny thing is my superficial friends and family tell me all the time I need to get back on it. They live for clicks and likes which means nothing. Real life interactions is what we were meant for.

I closed my facebook about 4 years ago and it was one of the best things I could've ever done. RUclips is the closest thing to a social media that I have right now and honestly I dont miss FB at all , I'm glad I got rid of all it's crap .

well I'm a bassist and have been watching for awhile now on RUclips. After watching you play in the beginning, I started to think about quitting playing bass. I've been playing for 40 years and I enjoy it very much. I 've got to play in some great bands over the years and wouldn't give that up for anything. I started thinking if I can't play like that what's the use. The more I hear your music has become inspiring for me to start learning more. I think I was getting old and tired but your music and style have revived me. I'm 73 and am looking for another Rock band to get into. Keep on doing your thing and again you are AWSOME on bass guitar. The main thing for me is I enjoy the music and playing the bass.

I know several people who lost their Facebook accounts because of scam issues.
It's been years and they still can't get back on Facebook.
They are very strict, unforgiving and they don't apply a lot of common sense.

So sorry my friend that this happened to you. It happened to me as well. Your pour all your creativity and hard work into building an audience and with the click of of switch it's turned off. No explanation, no recourse, nada. I lost an audience of 42k followers (a pittance of yours) in an instant.

This is why Charles is correct in saying we should never rely on any of these social platforms. The only sure way to retain control of your own stuff is to have your own website on your own hosting and your own domain, and keep it all backed up. Just think of everything that will be lost when these platforms fail one day as they all ultimately must.

People dont use Facebook anymore. Ive never used any of those silly social media sites. Just stop using it. Screw them.
Same thing happened to my friends business page, it was just gone we never found out the reason. I suspect its because of their algorithm they keep changing may have deleted it for a false positive on some key word or something.
Consider it a blessing that you got off that platform as it slowly sinks, its a real mess. This will allow you to look around and find something else, some other way to get your message out to people. Change sucks, but it can prove to be useful.
And this is why we need trustless systems. Being forced to trust corporations who only care about themselves is a bad value proposition. And yes, government is just a large corporation as well.

Everything I hear about Facebook puts me off it. I’m now just on there for groups and cat videos and even those suck these days. Email signup done. I can’t get by without a bit of CB on bass every day. Keep doing your thing Charles. Talent like yours will always be rewarded, and along with your humility and good grace, you’re a guy I can follow any day of the week. 🙌

Honestly, I never understood why social media are viewed as business so often. Tried to send some content creators a message about a video, only to get scolded how it's "unprofessional and an abuse of a business contact" to send a message to a publicly open PERSONAL message link if you want to give them a compliment about a video they made or something.
Maybe it's my autism. But "personal", "social" and "business" are three COMPLETELY separate concepts to me. Even if you use SOCIAL media to make money, it's still social.
Facebook is a joke anyway.
