Fellow 4th year at Marquette. Been watching since ur D1 vids. It’s cool seeing how similar yet different our journey has been. Good luck on these last few weeks and in the future!
My friend thank you for being part of my journey even though we’ve never met!! I appreciate your support and for hanging with me all these years! Congratulations to you on making it this close to graduation as well and best of luck in your future endeavors!
I enjoy your videos and the enthusiasm and excitement you bring to them. I am a retired dental hygienist and have sadly had to move on from it due to hand issues but I sincerely miss the world of dentistry! I was fortunate to attend a hygiene school that was within a dental school so we got to see what the dental students were up to and we even had a few classes together that first year. I remember after graduating also dealing with a schedule of 8 pts a day when at school we'd have one patient for afternoon clinic. And yes, the money was amazing once I started working. I think you are going to be a great success. Be careful about placing implants taking into account the forces that will be placed on it. I've seen some bad implant placements but I know you are going to do what you need to do to be proficient. Definitely treat your hygienist well, they are the ones that the patient sees twice if not more times every year. Also they detect leaky crowns and fillings while they are cleaning that they can bring to your attention. Good luck these last few months!
Thank you so much for this amazing comment! I’m honored to have you here on the channel! I have so much love and appreciate for hygienists. We dentists literally couldn’t do any of what we do without them. I just know that everything you said here was true and I really appreciate your advice and guidance. My main goal is to approach dentistry hungry and humble. I recognize the deficiencies in my knowledge at the moment, but I also have great aspirations to do big things within the field. I hope to pull it all together in time! Thanks again for the comment, and I hope you stick around and watch more of the videos!
Congrats on being featured in Dentistry magazine! I’ve been practicing hygiene full time for 24 years and I love learning new things! Look forward to more videos
Thank you so much for commenting and for your kind words! I always love to hear from hygienists because ya'll are truly so important to our field. Thank you for all your hard work and dedication to dentistry over the years!
It was a long process and it is a real pride to watch you complete this process in the best way from the beginning. We all know how much you loved this job and showed this enjoyable and fun time to us. Even though dentistry is extremely difficult, you also gave time to RUclips to come and share all of this with us since first year. Of course, you have had difficulties and bad times, but I'm sure you got through them in the best possible way, even if we dont know what was going on. You’re doing great Stephen and I’m sure I have a lot to learn from you.
Nazli as always it is a pleasure to hear from you! What a journey it has been, and, even though it is not quite over yet, I look back on so many aspects of dental school so fondly. I just feel blessed to have been able to embark on this journey and give it my all. I'm so happy that I brought the camera along with me for much of my experiences in dental school and the only thing I regret is that I didn't film more. Thanks again for the comment and continued support. I hope to continue to inform and entertain you in the years to come!
started to follow you around mid 2023 and you gave me motivation to start dentistry here in my country. i am loving it, i am a d1 and your content is amazing for me. i work full time and study at night (welcome to developing countries lol)
God bless you!! Your hard work will pay off, and I am proud of you for giving it your all and chasing your dream! Keep up the hard work and do not give up. You’ve got this! Thanks for watching the videos and commenting! It means the world to me
its crazy to look back on the first time i saw ur videos,.. i was in my last year of highschool n now I'm almost done w my second year of dental school. I have learned a lot from u and you wear a kind of a motivator for me, seeing you go through the same things i was going through made me feel motivated and excited for my future as a dental student. The only thing I would love to see u talking abt is giving us tips on how to manage time and studying tips in gen, how to maintain a blanced life as a dental student (getting good grades haha)
It’s so great to have you here with me and what a journey it has been for both of us!! I always love to hear about people like you that are growing up with me on this channel! I definitely made a handful of videos back when I was a D1/D2 that covered the study topics pretty heavily you just have to dig a bit for them. I don’t study really at all anymore so I’m probably quite rusty when it comes to all my old study methods. Best of luck my friend and thank you so very much for being part of my journey into dentistry!
Thanks for all you do! Your videos have been amazing for me and other dental students! Here are some things I’d look forward to with the channel. 1. Please let us know which CE you end up taking and if they were worth it! 2. Hope you tell us how the job is as a new grad. 3. If it’s not too personal, your plan on paying back student loans 4. Tips that you wish you would’ve have known as a dental student
Tray, thank you for this awesome comment!! I love your ideas and these are definitely things I have on my list of future videos! I want to just continue to create and add value here on RUclips for dentists and dental students! Thanks for the support and for commenting like I always ask you viewers to do!
My man! Thank you Joel for everything over the years! We miss you here on RUclips but it’s good to see you still make your viewing rounds 😂. Will have that DDS degree soon!
Isn’t it just WILD!! I cannot get over the fact that I am so close to graduation. I’m honestly not nervous at all for the future just ready for it at this point
Great video! Coming towards my 1 year anniversary as an RDH and I have had some similar experiences. The practice I was with had hired a new-grad dentist as an associate and it was great to watch his speed, patient interaction, and treatment planning improve! Another thing to consider will be how you split your time, as a hygienist I want to be understanding of the DDS’s time with their patients but my patients are also their patients so that can take some time for dentists to get used to. Can’t wait to see this next stage in your life!
Yew!!! Excited for all the content to come. Thanks for your videos man. I get so hyped to be a part of the dental world as I get ready for dental school in a few months.
Maaaan this is awesome!! Congrats! And yes you have a lot to look forward to! We have a small community in dentistry but it is a pretty amazing one. Work hard and do not ever give up!
Congratulations 🎉, really appreciate opening up abt the struggles of dentistry, off topic, do you recommend living with roommates while in dental school or living in my own? Again appreciate it
Thanks for the comment and support! I’m always happy to get into the details of my experience and it’s one of the main reasons why I have this channel! Honestly, in terms of roommates it is whatever you personally feel will be best for you. I have lived alone all four years but I have friends who lived with other dental students in our same class, other dental students in other classes, and other students in different schools like med school/pharmacy school. There has been a massive variety of living situations. You just need to live in a place where you can feel comfortable studying and being productive because that’s what matters. But even some people didn’t like studying at home and always studied at the library so really the options are endless!
Good luck with the boards! I just found out a classmate still has to work at age 65. He suffered a massive bankruptcy and now works for a dental conglomerate. He has to see 15-20 patients per day. He hates it and wishes he could quit, but he can’t…I am the D3 who got sick 40 years ago & had to quit. Did a 180. Changed majors, earned an MBA @UT AUSTIN. Got a decent 9-5 job. Middle-class lifestyle, good pension & investments. I’ve been retired for 15 years, but still in & out of the hospital for my illness. In the end, unfortunately, it is all about the MONEY.
Thanks so much for watching the video and commenting. It is so interesting to hear your story because it isn't one we hear very frequently in dental school. I believe I have been given a great opportunity to make it in dentistry because of the hard work of my parents, and I plan to make the most of the opportunity. Only time will tell, but I plan to grab the bull by the horns and make the most of it. What excites me is that I do genuinely have a passion for dentistry, and I'm not just pursuing for money or status (the wrong reasons). I also look forward to seeing how RUclips will play a role in my career in dentistry because I believe the two will be quite closely connected. Thanks again for your support and for sharing your story!
Hello! I’m a Highschool student that just finished his freshmen year and I’ve wanted to be a dentist for a while and the questions I always ask myself is dentistry worth it? How much debt will I get into and is it a stable job?
1.Tour of your dental school including the dental school clinic( and special needs dental clinic) 2. Let taking about special needs dentistry and being special needs dentist.
Thanks for the comment and ideas!! I have definitely thought about doing a tour of the dental school at UTHSC, and it is still something I would consider doing if the administration gave me permission to do it! We shall see. In terms of special needs dentistry, our clinic isn’t running yet, and I honestly don’t know much about it other than the little bit we’ve been exposed to in school. Definitely something I’ll need to be looking into more!
