Wow this was very good! intense and psychological film, I was wondering at first if she was dealing with a mental issue until the end. Good job! Hope to see more of your work!
Very beautifully done! The story, acting, lighting, cinematography were all superb, hard to pick a fav. You and your crew are incredibly talented, keep it going!
Thank you so much! I'm glad you enjoyed the film, and it's comments like this that keep me going! Hoping to make another film with this crew again soon. Thanks again!
Hey neighbor!! Fun fact, that’s a digital license plate because the car we used was purchased the same day and didn’t have any plates. So I made a license plate in Photoshop with my parent’s wedding anniversary and we tracked it onto the car digitally! Movie magic.
Loved this short: it deserves many more views! One question: the hammer. The lady dropped it and the man brought it inside. The hammer can be seen in the frames where he is down, killed by the police called by the lady herself. Does this suggest that the lady is somewhat "responsible" for the death of the man? I am not that good at understanding American without subtitles, you know. Cheers from Italy
Thanks I’m really glad you enjoyed the film! Yes, you’re correct. She dropped the hammer and he picked it up, then when she called the police and sent them to his house (in an attempt to protect him) the police saw a man with a hammer and shot him. The hammer was a requirement for the festival that the film was created for. We just tried to creatively weave it into the plot.
Thanks! Glad you dug the lighting/cinematography. We’ll just have to agree to disagree about the acting, we think Celeste, Erika, and Tre were outstanding bringing these characters to life.
Thanks! Shot in 5K 16x9 and cropped. I think it’s actually cropped properly on Vimeo but this was before RUclips allowed different aspect ratios so I added black bars here and exported 16x9.
Thx for reply Yes the quality is nice honestly Im kinda thinkin bout getting a red but im kinda concerned about the reliability Is ur experience with it fine? Cause u know red been known kinda shady for their repairs.. but cant beat the image quality tho. But u have talent !!!
@@sarazinosarazino557 I’ve never had any problems with mine. I bought a package with 3 mini mags for memory and 2 v-mount batteries and realistically I probably should have gotten more memory and more batteries because it goes quick. But I’ve loved the footage and the shooting and editing experience
She IS the monster who kills that man, in a way, because she calls the cops who kill him. What a twist! And then, she isn't crazy after all, because it gets her.
OK so the film was pretty decent. But one thing really didn't make much sense. She dropped the hammer and he picked it up while it was day light. She called the police after sun down. Sohours has passed. What the hell was the guy doing just standing their with the hammer for atleast 3 hours in his own home?
Glad you thought it was pretty decent. That's better than nothing! He took the hammer back inside after she left, and then when the police arrived and he heard commotion at the door, he may have assumed she had come back. After all, she was BANGING on his door earlier. This time he's holding her hammer and it got him killed.
Tragic, and enjoyable. I thought the monster could have been introduced more times (or integrated throughout the story more) but perhaps that would have undercut the projected idea that she had mental issues. The Boo reveal at the end was a bit underwhelming as the emotional crescendo for me was the spoiler. Also a knife was referred to often and the use of the hammer did not feel as emotionally satisfying to me. Whatever weapon first introduced should have been used in the final shot in my opinion. I really felt for the woman but not much for the fellow as he was not that sympathetic.
Thanks for the feedback! We didn’t really reference the knife verbally, we *alluded* to her using a knife around her daughter, reinforcing the idea of previous mental issues. But also, the hammer was a specific requirement in the festival that we made the film for. And we thought a hammer would be a more innocuous item that the male character could be holding that would result in him getting shot by the police. A knife is a clear weapon, but the hammer is theoretically just a hammer. Two birds, one stone. We weren’t as interested in people feeling sympathy for him which is why we didn’t give him any back story or emotional arc, this is Janice’s story so it’s more important to us that people feel for her.
@@themikereda Thanks for responding. Yes, the are at least two shots with the knife and there is no verbal reference. Viven your comment, perhaps we see the knife in the shadowed state which could have indicated her experiencing a mental illness. Interesting regarding the hammer, I hope you can understand any confusion a person could have.
It's usually pretty hard to feel empathy towards any horror characters but...damn. I felt it for both of the main characters here. Especially right at the end. Poor woman☹
Thanks so much Nellie! Glad you empathized with our poor lead character. The actress did a phenomenal job and we worked hard to make sure she wasn't just "some crazy lady in a horror short"

WHOA! That was well done! Great acting, cinematography, lighting and everything else! It takes a lot to impress me! 👍👏👏

OK the 1st minute! Very well done. I was like OK - then - hooked. Nicely shot.. That ending!
Well damn. That was good. Just goes to show, leave shyt alone. We manifest situations
This was my second time watching this classic going for number three great cast great story great job

Killer work. Looks sensational. Were these the Xeen Rokinons? Or the cheapies?
Looks amazingggg.
Thanks Kacey! Yeah Derek Donovan is a hell of a cinematographer. I think these were Rokinon cine primes, probably 35, 50, 85mm
cinematography and lighting were great IMO awesome job - but the acting really brought this down.
Thanks! Glad you dug the lighting/cinematography. We’ll just have to agree to disagree about the acting, we think Celeste, Erika, and Tre were outstanding bringing these characters to life.
Nice footage good work
What aspect ratio was it?
5k widecreen?
Good job tho

@@brettsmith5903 thanks man! I appreciate it!
Is this the canon c300?
No this one was shot on the RED Scarlet-W 5K. Our other film, “Mr. Keeps” was shot on the C300.
WANT MORE. PLEASE FINISH THE STORY
Thanks Marilyn! We're hoping within the next few years we'll get to make a feature-length version of this one!
