My 71 Vega ran 9.85 with a four speed and 383. i left at 3500 and shifted it at 6500. It charged hard at the big end. Of course that was 1985. You got a cool ride there.
I know I'm late but I just watched this,it was in my recommendations but I noticed it shifted just about as soon as you let off the brake,I have that same problem myself sometimes(spinning) shooting the rpm's up to the shift point,but yet still run that fast,great video buddy!!!
Nice to see your Dad kept the Vega,...I believe that he purchased it from me in 1998, Do you have video of the car going down the track,...it would be great to see !!!
car shifted about 60ft out,another thing you need to do is brace off that seat at the top & tighten up the belts,i have a vega with a 410 sbc that runs 8:90.have fun but stay safe

Very nice ride! Great sound! I had a Ford Pinto that ran a consistent 10:20. And I really miss that car! It was a great street car!

My first 8 sec pass was in my tube chassis 540ci Vega . Street legal and that car was feared at the local cruise spot..
