I just want to say how how wonderful that snare drum work is. I was brass back in the day from a different decade but the subtleties of the snare work wasn't lost on me. It's a many-decades long tradition and I hope of all KP bands keep going forward.
Thank you for posting. My son was in the class of 1997 and was in the band. Capt. Force was the director then. I remember sitting in the stands watching the midshipmen on parade just like it was yesterday. I always liked King's Point.
I'm British. I did not know the Americans played this as well. Makes me wonder if the US Navy play "Heart Of Oak" (one of the signature tunes of the Royal Navy.
It's really only this band (the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy) in the U.S. that plays in the British Royal Marine style. I don't think they play Heart of Oak.
What is the meaning/significance of Acceptance Day? Not many female Midshipmen copared to USNA?? Nicely done ceremony! *s/ Retired 24 Year US Navy Submariner - USNA Class of 1965*
Salti Dawg Acceptance day is when the plebe candidates become Plebes. They are issued their eagles to wear on their uniforms and are officially accepted into the regiment. They get slightly better rates after being accepted, but they still have strict regulations placed on them. They are plebes from acceptance until recognition which is usually in the end of April. Not sure what it is now, but I believe usually the classes start 20% female.
@@TheGogobuttplease look at the band of the Royal Marines the British merchant navy doesn’t have a band but if we are going to compare bands then we might as well compare the band that the US merchant Marine band takes inspiration from and that would be the band of the Royal Marines

Matey Bubble Bath song
I love the band but the tempo of the opening selection is too fast. Compare it to the Band of the Royal Marines on parade.
British play it better you you guys can't roll those drums like them
there is only 1 way you can roll on a drum
Agreed! Rule Britannia!
