My first cross-the-line pen was a BENU Ambrosia Forget-me-not, and now I have ordered a Cross Botanica Green Daylily. This might not be the end...😱

You and me dream of the pilot VP radan Galaxy... Every time I think it's within range it goes up price again. Great vid!

An easy way to get brass shiny again (if so desired) is, to rub it with ketchup. Yes, seriously. I think it's the acidity. Or if you have a slice of lime or lemon left over from cooking, you can polish it up with that. Both work really well.

My Benu Euphoria in Ocean Breeze brought me to the mid-level pens! Last year, I purchased a Pilot Decimo in champagne as my first gold nib pen. It is hands on one of my favorite pens to write with, and it pairs so well with Yama Budo.

Ouh! Such a lovely pairing! I’ve heard a few people mention benu, the sparkles look fun!

Thank you. I also enjoy the nicer mid-range fountain pens but must be picky about my budget. So it is very nice to see practical reviews on mid-range pens. I had heard of but not seen the Platinum Cool.
I just discovered your channel and need to go back and watch your older videos. Thanks.

😍 Great video! Looking forward to getting a Pilot capless. I learned a little hack for the Liliput with the converter; put it in, screw back on the bottom and it shows where you can fill it up to (the “w” in Kaweco on mine). Very small amount of ink but I like changing inks. 😊

Woah, that’s a small ink capacity for sure! 😅 you’ll get plenty more from the capless converter 😉

Just found your channel, thanks for posting your thoughts! The Lamy Safari family is arguably the most versatile platforms. It's a great place to start, and well worth buying even if you've got much more advanced or expensive pens.

Thebesr thing about Lamy & TWSBI pens is that they always write, they are smooth writers and none if them leak!

Nice collection. I have a Lamy Al-star and a Pilot Vanishing Point and enjoy both . My daughter has a Decimo and I think I like it better than the Vanishing PointThanks for the video.

I am trying to not go down the rabbit hole of having too many fountain pens as it can be addictive, but I do have 4 models. My first was a Visconti Breeze Mandarin with fine nib, Parker Sonnet with 18k gold medium nib, Pelikan M805 Blue with 18k Rhodium nib Med and my most recent purchase TWSBI VAC900R "IRIS".
I keep them all inked up with different colours, I'm just getting used to which write wet or dry with certain inks. I put a Wearingul blue in the TWSBI but found it quite dry so swapped that out for the Pelikan 4001 and it writes smoother. The Parker and Pelikan pens write quite wet with most inks and are silky writers.
I loved the video you did on the Spring ink swatching and colours, I would love to see more of these videos as you seem to have 100 times more inks than me so you views on the wetness and depth of colour with many that you have would help greatly in sourcing some new ink makes.
I also love your handwriting, it puts mine to shame so it would be great also if you posted some writing tutorials to improve a persons handwriting. Keep up the good work.
    👍

Good luck with that! (Sincerely.) I've told myself that my collection is 'complete' so many times ... and then impulse buy some vintage pen ... or another ProGear ... or whatever the heck the latest Twsbi is ...

I peeked, and you are the only channel that has gaming content and fountain pen videos. One of my favorite fountain pen brand is the TWSBI Diamond 580, can be totally disassembled and cleaned if an ink is clogging the pen. IDEA for pen related video - how about you tell us what inks you have, which you like or dislike and why. And how about what paper you use for fountain pens?

Thanks for the review! My first Lamy was the Safari View (transparent model) with a medium nib, and I really enjoyed it but I wrote too bold(thick) and for my work notepad it was bleeding too much. I then got the regular safari with a Fine nib and it writes perfectly! Thinner lines, much less bleeding too (again, on the particular paper quality). Then I figured I wanted to try the EF nib but instead of just getting the nib I got the Lamy Al-Star wanting to "upgrade" the experience with the metal body... Unfortunately, the slightly larger (wider) body is not as comfortable to me and the metal feels thin, good quality and I'm sure it's very resistant, but I feel like it could dent. I've tried a few more mid-range pens, but honestly the regular Safari in plastic feels so robust and perfectly balanced, it's my choice for the mid-range price options.
I wanted to ask you if you pair your pens to the paper you're using or do you just "take turns"? I think you may have talked about it in a previous video, I'm curios to know how others get to use their various pens all the time. I have 4 active fountain pens I use regularly but I have one for work notes, one I carry in my sling bag and a couple I use to journal with.
Keep the content coming! And thanks!

It’s such fun to experiment and find the perfect pen-ink-paper combos. I have a preference for clairefontaine paper but other than that I use mostly leuchttum notebooks (I don’t mind the ghosting). I have to finish a moleskin notebook and the paper is asexual for fountain pen inks, I’ll make a video on that for sure it’s a great subject!
Also, the Lamy safari is such a good and reliable choice!

Affordable fountain pens won't keep the resale values that you might expect, except for limited editions, discontuned models, or NOS (new old stock.) Just keep them for testing new inks, or high maintenance inks (high sheening, lots of shimmer.)
