  • The year is 2000, and it is my first visit to Baltimore to video some MTA bus and light rail action (did not get to the Metro on this trip). Got some MARC cameos as well.

This is hometown history. I must’ve been 3-4 years old when this was recorded, haven’t seen these types of buses in years. Thank you for preserving this!

Fucking A yo. I'm 20 now and looking at this video I'm old enough to remember and rode every single bus. This is wild. I never thought those busses would go out of service. I miss them like crazy. Even though my childhood was really crappy. Riding public transportation was one constant good thing I had along with video games. The atmosphere is even different.

I miss the days when they would run three car sets. Now I'm lucky to see a two car set that isn't overcrowded. Thanks for posting this video. I've seen videos of Light Rail opening day and here it is 8 years later. I'm just 6 months older than this system. :)

Great video! You don't realize how much has changed until you take a look back.

Wow!! This brings back memories. I first rode on the MTA when I was 3 years old. I miss the good old buses like Flxibles Metros NABI models. It was great to see the light rail and MARC train in this video.

I was 10 yrs old when this was recorded. The busses have changed alot over the yrs since it's no longer "MTA" but the lightrails still looks like this today.

You can't beat the Flxible Metro series buses from the 6V92TA Detroit Diesel with the V730 or V731 Allison Transmission to the Detroit Diesel series fifty engines with the ZF ecomat Transmissions and the Ikarus Nabi 416 with the Cummins M11 engines with Either a B400 or ZF Transmissions

Calvin yes!! They were my favorite buses back in the good old days. Now, they have new Flyers and MTA is ordering NOVA buses from 2020 until 2024

I remember growing up in Dallas Texas and Flxible, Nabi and the old Nova buses were my Favorite Transit Buses, and Shoutout to the Low Floor Gilligs and Orion Buses too

You got that right. Growing up in Atlanta it was a huge thrill both spotting and riding our 6v92 Metros and back then I use to skip an L10 Metro or D40 was to board a Detroit Diesel just to enjoy the sounds of them. I’m currently am in writing about them and can’t wait to share about my experience seeing, listening and riding them because I can’t just keep it to myself anymore 🤩

I wasn't born for another 9 years after but i remember being 3 years old in 2012-2013 and everything still looked super old and now its 2023-2024 and everything is so revolutionary its kinda crazy all the upgrades that have happened in that 23 year span from 2000 to now

Amazing, see buses 15 and 16 years old still running. Now the want to scrap them after 12 or 13 years. What a waste of Md tax dollars!
