I would have liked him to get further into his draft for the richness it added to the world, but I love the book we have too much for him to have published the revision. I think something special is lost to us whichever way events unfolded.
The revisions could be combined with the 1930 Hobbit he told his children, "The Quest for Erebor," "Durin's Folk," "The Complaint of Mim the Dwarf," and the mentions of the Dwarves in the Silmarillion and "The History of Middle Earth," to create "a Dwarven epic," he "wished to have found."

Those old pictures are adorable!
Isn't it quite simple? I wish we had both versions. Had he finished it, it wouldn't necessarily mean that the older edition would get out-of-print.
"Take care, Micheal. Bye-bye"...replies Freeloader 😂
I for one would have loved to see him finish the revisions he was making.
The revisions would have worked if he combined the 1931 version with trains and Beren and Luthien with the revisions.
"Picturesque inscrutability" 😂

A pony is a breed of horse so it didn't need correction.
it would be like calling a dog a canine, it is correct.. just not specific.
Pony IS a small horse, though, right? So, it's more like saying Dog instead of chihuahua... :)

Wasn't the inn at Frogmorton called The Floating Log? There is a built-in joke, a better name than the All Welcome I should say.
Sorry do not get to listen as much as. I would like. Enjoy the insight and knowledge.
That's good because the Hobbit doesn't need fixing
I have suggested a few times over the months that the 1931 Hobbit could be combined with the revisions.
