When I was in Addis Abbeba, transiting from Tokyo(on the 787) I saw the “1st A350-1000” in Africa and it looked like such an update especially considering the fact that the 777 I took later was literally braking down.
I love Kaju Katli (the "silver" dessert you mentioned). It's readily available here in the UK from Indian sweet shops. Even some ordinary supermarkets will sell it, especially around Diwali.
I’m glad you enjoyed flying the A350-1000 with Ethiopian Airlines! This video perfectly showcases their modern fleet, exceptional service, and leadership in global aviation. The A350-1000 is a true game-changer, and your review highlights why Ethiopian is the pride of Africa. Safe travels, and hope to see you exploring Addis Ababa soon
Beautiful flight review, cheers from Addis Abeba, Ethiopia. Consistency is very important for airlines, Ethiopian Airlines needs to immediately retrofit the seats of its older airplanes.
Thanks! Great to hear! I do love to see Ethiopian's newer aircraft, and can't wait to see their airline's growth around the world. Next time I'll have to spend some time in Addis!
I think this plane would do great for the Johannesburg leg of flights. Our national airline has so few planes that for most international trips we rely on outsiders to fly us. Ethiopian being the biggest on the continent means they are the first to come to mind. The A350 looks amazing and I'm glad that Ethiopian are ordering more of them.
That sweet you had on the Mumbai-Addis Ababa flight is called "Kaju Katli" and is made out of ground cashew, milk solids and sugar coated with Silver foil. Glad you liked it! :)

Very unserious. You’ll get attacked for saying so. I shared my last experience at LOS on Patrick’s Air Peace video and was called a liar and a hater. Apparently the best way to fix a country is to deny any problems exist.
@@michaelx4810 honestly so true. I've definitely been waiting to try Luanda's new airport and TAAG's 787s. Just waiting for the official announcements of when they will be in operation. But after my last TAAG journey, I've been desperately wanting to try it again!

I believe the one stop, in Lomé, Togo, is to refuel. Rason: Addis Abeba is a high altitude city, and depending on the take-off weight of the plane, the aircraft may not be fuelled to capacity when leaving Addis on the way to the US.
Possibly, although the aircraft CAN reach DC and NY nonstop. My guess is that it's tied to Ethiopian's investments in Togo, so it helps Togo maintain flights to North America, for largely diplomatic purposes. That's why they've maintained the ADD-LFW-IAD route on some days, even though they will also fly nonstop with the A350-1000 I believe
Oh after arriving in Addis Ababa, you have a connecting flight to Dubai, then fly Emirates newest Airbus A350-900's 1st inaugural flight to Edinburgh in 2025? No way, wow. Hope you sleep well on the plane and long layover in Dubai.

Patrick. I love your content as an airline employee and an AV geek. I have USED ET extensively in my African travels and concur with your observations about their services. Their onboard service is always consistent but as you as you say you never know what cabin configuration you will get even within the same fleet. And I have never done an itinerary with them where the aircraft type has not been changed (sometimes last minute). Must be a pilot scheduler’s nightmare But they are quirky and I like them. And I, for one, am sorry to see the old red, green or yellow amenity kits phased out before I could snag a red one. That was interesting, and your story-telling is always welcome. I flew Ethiopian last summer non-stop from Toronto to Addis, a 13.5 hour flight--unfortunately on an A350-900 with 2-2-2 configuration in business class. But I found the seat comfortable, the bed less so, food very good, and the service excellent. I would happily fly them again, though hoping for a 1-2-1 arrangement next time.
Another great video Patrick. Your videos are always great. I'd love to see a review on Air Canada's flight from Vancouver to Bangkok. Hopefully more routes from the US to Bangkok will start soon. As an expat living in Thailand its a good feeling to have a flight straight home. I definitely think it would make money. I think people want options on nonstop exotic destinations now. What do you think?
Thanks for the video, Patrick. Last year, Nigeria was Africa's 4th largest economy by GDP, though its aviation infrastructure tells a different story. The 20-dollar "quick access fee" was well spent but unfortunately added to the Nigerian and African corruption statistics. Can a fully laden A 350 lift off from Bole International Airport? Ethiopian capitalized on the gap in African aviation. They still deserve credit for running their airline professionally for several years. What you were given on the Addis Ababa to Mumbai flight is an Indian sweet.
"Can a fully laden A 350 lift off from Bole International Airport?" No. Altitude. Ethiopian planes take off the Addis Ababa airport with only half-tank of fuel. In Rome or Dublin, they fill up to capacity for their journey over the Atlantic. They do not have the same problem when they return to Addis.
@@bircruz555 "Half tank" is still a lot of fuel. You are looking at a 7-hour flight, which would still be a lot of weight for a Bole take-off 9assuming there is a full load of passengers). Do they carry fewer passengers and cargo? How do they manage to fly directly to Sao Paulo because, that would require more than "half a tank" of Jet A1.
Please try ethiopian airlines in 2030 they will have the biggest airport in Africa and also the 777x in 2028❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤😊😊😊😊😊😊and flowen on the 777 -300er and a 350-900 and love your videos
Those are usually intelligent officers; trust me... his documents were probably copied and stored, and if not, then they work with either the airlines or tourism agents... one time I even got my hotel upgraded to presidential because of my US passport... you can give that guy $200, and if you have a passport for a country that they do not consider rich, he will still refuse it. all I was told was to give us a good review on such and such platform
@RK7LifeLine did you watch the video? Apart from that guy holding his passport there are a lot of security breaches. He literally said he could go to the runway and come back or do anything. How about the arrival and departures passageway being one and the same? They literally gave him a wrong boarding pass because one officer was checking in 3 passengers simultaneously. Being a security officer doesn't mean you bypass security protocols. You probably have never been to Nigeria and some of these African countries, the corruption there is alarming. One can literally do anything.
@@Burner_AccOf course, I did, and I can't stress enough about the lack of security measures. but its not always that; a plane coming from usa wont be scrutinized as a plane coming from , let say, Somalia. I've seen that in usa, a plane from colombia get more scrutiny than a plane from canada
That sweet you had on your mumbai flight is called Kaju Katli. Everyone loves them. You can purchase them at any Indian sweet store or restaurant in USA. Even Walmart sells them.
Reading my mind again? I just was contemplating an Ethiopian flight, from Narita to Accra or from Madrid. Cheers for the information and look forward to more of your African content.
Now that you tried the "VIP Service" in Lagos, make sure you also try the PS Service at LAX. You pay a private company around USD 1,000, go to a private terminal off W Imperial Hwy, use a private (shared) lounge, have lunch, get escorted through private TSA and then driven directly to the plane in a sedan.
14:37 - Thats Katli, likely cashew, possibly almond. It's an Indian marzipan-style sweet, made with either nut. It's hardened more than marzipan, and often has a hint of cardamum, instead of rose etc. Kaju (Cashew) Katli is the more popular one.
I think ET is doing really well. No, they are not the best, most luxurious or whatever and there's plenty of room for improvement.. but they don't waste state money (they actually make the state money) and adjust their offering according to its primary users and their financial means. Middle East standards and prices just wouldn't work for the continent at large now, and ET understands this. I think it's time they step up their crew training and their SOPs a few notches, make some needed changes to the transit experience in Bole and for the sake of god - make sure there's injera on every single flight.
Ethiopian is doing a great job at representing Africa. I love seeing the continent's aviation growth, and Ethiopian's investments in national carriers in places like Togo, Malawi, and the DRC are helping the whole continent it seems!
Patrick the seat should be identical to the ones on Air France and United Airlines Polaris service seats. Because they are the same exact Safran Optima seats. Happy New Year to you Patrick they might even do this on ET509/644 EWR-ADD-MNL. Although I would still take their Star Alliance Partners from East Asia same service as ET with the proximity of Manila Ninoy Aquino International Airport.
Nah I really do like visiting Nigeria and I've made some great friends there. It's one of the reasons I visit 2-3 times per year! Some great stories to go along with the travels though, but overall great trips!
That would be interesting! Although it doesn't seem to be the plan at the moment. The Chicago flights aren't as prestigious to Ethiopia it seems, whereas DC is a major political connection

As an expat living in Thailand its a good feeling to have a flight straight home. I definitely think it would make money. I think people want options on nonstop exotic destinations now. What do you think?
Thanks! I'd definitely look into some more canadian journeys. Still looking at a WestJet journey to compare it to last year's Air Canada flight
it's not about prestige but economics of scale 🎉❤
4:09 Wasnt that Johnny Drille at the lounge?
Thats Is Nigeria.Great Video And Info
Thanks!
Please try ethiopian airlines in 2030 they will have the biggest airport in Africa and also the 777x in 2028❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤😊😊😊😊😊😊and flowen on the 777 -300er and a 350-900 and love your videos
❤ Thanks again
AT THE PICTURE SCENE OF THIS VIDEO AT 11:00 THE LOCATION "MUSHIN" THAT'S MY HOOD 😂. YOU WELCOME 😂
The dessert looks like either barfi or kaju katli, both of which are Indian!
The lack of security measures at that airport is diabolical. I hope they watch this and improve
Qatar has more dense A350-1000s, registrations A7-AO*. Also, French bee has more dense A350-1000s.
Awesome! Thanks! Enjoy your travels!
At least you get fed overseas. In the US you get a drink and a bag of snacks
Depends on the flight length. Most flights over 900 miles get a meal up front in the US.
I think you opted for the Creole Chicken Stew with rice and not the Steak?
I flew on this from Addis to Washingtion. It was fabulous!
Awesome! I'd love to take that route with this aircraft! Super enjoyable I'm sure
yay! had the 727th like :D ! looked like a great flight!
The dessert you tried is Indian- it’s called Kaju Katli made out of cashew. You can buy them at Indian stores in SFO
Interesting. I'll have to go look for it. Between that and Gulab Jamun I've really come to like these indian sweets!
Did the plane land before you post? Damn you are fast
Fair, honest & balanced video. Thanks for sharing !
Thanks! Good to hear it!
I heard FrenchBee’s A350-1000 has 480 seats
Now that you tried the "VIP Service" in Lagos, make sure you also try the PS Service at LAX. You pay a private company around USD 1,000, go to a private terminal off W Imperial Hwy, use a private (shared) lounge, have lunch, get escorted through private TSA and then driven directly to the plane in a sedan.
Id love to try that service... but it's thousands of dollars if you do it right. Might have to wait for me to win the lottery
14:35 , thats Kaju katli, an Indian desert
I’ve flown on them from Kuala Lumpur to Singapore. Ticket can only be reserved online and to be paid in cash at the airport before checking in.
That's super interesting. I haven't heard of situations like that in this day and age
nice one mate
Ethiad starting service to Atlanta in July. You should do that flight.
I love seeing the continent's aviation growth, and Ethiopian's investments in national carriers in places like Togo, Malawi, and the DRC are helping the whole continent it seems!
the sweet you had on indian fight was an indian sweet named "kaju katli". it is one of the famous sweets of india.
That's an Indian dessert. It's cashew kathli (I think). It could also be almond.
Yes, its awesome Kaju Katli ( sweets made of cashew)
The desert is kaaju katli. In sfo you can go to any Indian grocery store. The best brand is haldiram
Is that really the color of the sky in Lagos or did you use the Mexico filter?
😂😂😂
Honestly the 787-8 windows got that kinda filter from the arrival. But the haze in the region ain't helping
Love your videos
Thanks! Great to hear!
Patrick the seat should be identical to the ones on Air France and United Airlines Polaris service seats. Because they are the same exact Safran Optima seats. Happy New Year to you Patrick they might even do this on ET509/644 EWR-ADD-MNL. Although I would still take their Star Alliance Partners from East Asia same service as ET with the proximity of Manila Ninoy Aquino International Airport.
the name of the dessert from adis ababa to mumabi is called "Kaju Katli" its famous sweet in India.
As a Nigerian, I am very sorry for your experience. I do apologise. I hope you are not too pissed off, and hopefully try the new terminal 🙏
Nah I really do like visiting Nigeria and I've made some great friends there. It's one of the reasons I visit 2-3 times per year! Some great stories to go along with the travels though, but overall great trips!
❤ethiopian airlines
Hope the 4th A350-1000 would be assigned to the Add - Chicago O'Hare route.
That would be interesting! Although it doesn't seem to be the plan at the moment. The Chicago flights aren't as prestigious to Ethiopia it seems, whereas DC is a major political connection
Thats an interesting report Ethiopian Airlines besides Kenya Airways the pride of Africa.
Heyy Patrick, when will you try Kenya Airways again? Just curious 😅😅
I did like Kenya Airways, but I've got some more new airlines to try before I return to them
Definitely do a trip report on the United Airlines flight!
It'll be part of a bigger video I'm working on for sure!
Am I crazy or was that chicken and not the steak? 14:01
Frenchbee has 440 seats on their -1000's
