Congratulations!! When I last visited last week there was 2 bats hanging around in that corner so it was probably them!! Can't wait to catch a glimpse :)
OMG OMG OMG!!!! For a while I’ve seen one sweet male sidling up to a particular female all the time, so I was quietly optimistic! I can’t believe it, fabulous!!!!!! 🖤🦇❤🦇🖤🦇❤
🦇 A fabulous success for the zoo ... you are firmly on the map these days. Had a snowy visit yesterday, didn't glimpse the baby but a very friendly & knowledgable keeper pointed Mum out & shared lots of imformation. Always a pleasure to visit.
Hi Maxine, Best video yet. Wonderful news and such a caring Mum with her little one. I love all species of bats and am delighted for all of you at the Zoo to have this cute new pup. You did really well to get some footage for us to see. Thanks for sharing.
Oh wow! The nicest news. And we were stood there last weekend and never knew there was a mummy and baby right in front of us. Great news for the species, I hope this is the first of many. Well done all of you; will you and the staff be choosing a name based on a theme?
These videos are so important to providing information and education. One of the first important things I learned is that bats cannot fly off the ground. A bat on the ground should not be touched, but can be protected with a box from dogs, cats, various predators. I have on my refrigerator the names and number of the few rescues for wild animals within driving distance of my home. I learned baby can lower mum's blood calcium levels resulting in muscle spasm, easily addressed with some oral calcium--even added to water bottles. I have a friend who straps drip bottle in trees that provide access easily for bats. It takes a while, but being curious, the bats seem to find the bottles and lick away.
“If you listen quite closely, you can hear the baby bat!” Me: “I hear it! It sounds like a cricket!…Wait…” 😅 Also, is that a rubber chicken toy or are the bats making that sound?
Beautiful sky puppies!
