- How do you paint a Kill Team? Idk, but I'll show you how I build mine!
I’m this video I’m showing you how I think through painting a chaos space marine kill team / warband.
This is also my thought process while painting forces for other tabletop games as well.

House Lore for your Warhammer minis is a must :P "Conrack the Polite" (Fantasy Chaos Lord who rolled 1s to attack a wooden gate w/ Str10 multiple turns in a row, so we joked he was just knocking ) and my Scout Sgt. for KillTeam (Billy-Ray Cyrus, a riff on the Scout from Dawn of War 2, who can't hit the broad side of a planet) will live forever :D Love yer vids, keep um comin' man!

Just a teency bit of lore or narrative goes a long way towards enjoying gameplay for me. I know some folks don't care about it, but having some attachment makes every decision a little bit more intense and enjoyable.

I really like that painting advice. I'm going to have to try that. Right now I spend hours and hours on my models to get them to look decent. (well decent-ish)
😂 it was unintentional. I recorded this at like 3am, so I was a little loopy for sure lol. I’m always looking for ways to cut down on painting time. It’s killing me trying to prep a whole kill team and play some games with them for a faction video 😂
I was so happy with my white thousand sons that i ended up writing lore about them for about 2 weeks. The short story is that the thousand sons warband ended up on journey of redemption after a xeno technology ended up purging the chaos taint out of them .
Now they function like the login of the damned challenging the twister of fate himself on every chance possible.

That paint job came up a treat! Loved the work with dry brush and then the glaze. All teams need a bit of character and a backstory…… but most importantly, ridiculous nicknames!

Great video as always! The red and the osl came out great on these guys. Honestly your videos and kill teams have really inspired me to up my game on my own kill teams. Rather than just building the squad and painting them up,spend more time with a concept and kitbashing them!

Nice one mate! Love that paint job!! GG on the 2k subs! My Rust Eaters are doing well, I've run them with cultists against Krieg and that works well to to counter their numbers force them out more. Finally got them based so I will send some pics over later xD

@@battlebrotherstabletop Used some of the minis from the Blackstone Fortress cultists, topped up with some guard the Rust Eaters met along the way xD The new necromunda gang would make good cultists, they are more generic gangers than the others. xD

Dude, this team looks friggin sweet! I'll have to try this dry brushing technique. I'm working on my tsons kill team (bad choice for "starting" with, so ornate...) and then I was going to do some primaris in a Taiwan flag theme for my wife. 🇹🇼

Oof, yeah one of the first things I painted was TSons and it almost killed me 😂 Hang in there, man. You might be able to save some time by stippling in the blue instead of carefully. I'll be getting to a Tsons video eventually!

My Kill Team (2018) Heretic Astartes are Red Corsairs. All 17 models have different color schemes. The marines each have a separate parent chapter/legion. This opens up tons of backstory options. (The term "head canon" make me think of the Cerberus pattern Forge Fiend.) For example, one of the terminators is a Fallen Dark Angel. Another is from the Thousand Sons. He has enough psyker power to not be a Rubric Marine but his sorcery does not impact the battlefield.
Kill Team is awesome as it encourages players to take the time to focus on individuals instead of units.

Nice models! I have some old ones so it will be 3 x CSM + ? x Cultists for me. On the roster perhaps 6 x CSM as an option but I want more... bodies probably.
Nice! Yeah the 6 marines and the split are both good teams for different situations. Those GA2 models can put in some work for sure.
I realize this is a two year old video, but "we're being replaced" isn't a great reason for heresy era legionnaires to hate Primaris. Many of the first crop of Primaris were recruited in M31-33. They are also relics of the heresy era, their loyalty is the exact loyalty and outlook that the renegades rebelled against.
These legionaries think it’s a great reason
I feel more comfortable choosing Orange & White for my cannon fodder killteam... Sorry I mean imperial guard!
I just finished a chaos marine kill team with each member being from a different legion because I couldn’t decide on one

DO IT! Makes perfect sense to me. Buy a box guard and run them as cultists 😂
There’s a green text post about the Deathwatch RPG where a player asked if they could RP an Alpha Legionnaire that infiltrated the Watch to kill a particular marine, you might like it! Either way best of luck with the team!

@@battlebrotherstabletop -- Sure is. I have a built multiple killteams, and the more I play a team, the more the "characters" evolve. My Warpcoven team has a tzaangor (actually a fantasty beast-gor goatmen model) that I've named Black Phillip, as tribute to the antagonist in THE VVITCH. In that same Killteam, one of my sorcerers has been given a stream of obscenities as a name by my local group, due to the Ephemerla Instability spell, reducing everyone's dash and charge ranges. I figure just lean into it.
My Fallen CSM team has a random bolter guy carrying around a skull. Bolter guy doesn't have a name, but the skull is Yorick, from the play that shall not be named. All activations with that model start with "Yorick says we're going to..."
