Great information!
The session was a great one. Just spotted a slight correction in the 2nd question. It should have been 'What other jobs are you applying for?'.
Informative video, thank you.
Impressive video, having a technical interview next week and will inform of the progress.
Till then, thanks for this video.
How’d it go?
Did you make it? How many of the questions mentioned here were asked?
In 1984, when I graduated with a BA in English I was accepted at Carnegie-Mellon University to pursue a Masters in Professional Writing with the idea that I wanted to write automotive repair manuals and similar things. Even though the Veterans Administration was paying all actual school related expenses, the $288.00/mo. living expense money I was receiving does not enable one to exist in the Oakland area of Pittsburgh and my schooling stopped there. It would also be impossible to have an outside job and still work on a Masters degree while competing with the smartest Asians and others from around the world. Now at age 70 I'm in The Philippines and trying to get proofreader and similar positions online and have learned that I need to study The Chicago Manual of Style and subsequently ran across this very informative video about what I missed out on all those years ago. I wonder if it is too late to continue on? I'm not very confident that I could find a school in The Philippines that could teach this subject matter with any degree of competency.
any advice from a expirienced TW im trying to break into the business and could use so e direction?
Love this but can you please get a microphone for your videos? There is a lot of echo in the room.
Hey Jonathan, I've been working as a technical writer for 2 and a half years, I mainly write user manuals and functional specifications for software applications. Now, what are the certificates that I can acquire to move up to a higher level in this field and In the company I'm working for?
can i ask something about technical writing ?

How did you get into tech writing
@@beautyfromwithin8825 apply for entry level and get your foot in the door. Depending on where you live it may not be very competitive. For example, copywriting is very saturated these days, but technical writing isn’t. So it should be a bit easier to get noticed by employers
3:03 *What other jobs are you applying for? :D
