Lolin Taylor The implications in The theories make it seem like it’s the toys the owners consider characters. Like Woody is a cowboy or Forky is a... living spork. The etch and Mr. Spell are less like that and more like tool toys. :P
To be honest, the idea that forky is a spork is just not true. That's like saying buzz is just a hunk of plastic. Forky might have been made out of a spork but he was made to be a toy
i have a hole to one part of the theory, he says that buzz is based off of a real tv character/ superhero or whatever he is in real life and thats why he thinks he is the real one. on the other hand woody is a toy made off of the woody’s roundup tv show but he somehow knows he is a toy.the only solution is maybe through time he learn that he was a toy like buzz did
I think Woody's reaction to the burn might have been more in response to the idea of being damaged, like a sort of phantom pain that was primarily fear driven. It's like when a little kid falls down, but they won't start crying and acting like they're hurt unless an adult freaks out about it or gasps and scares them.
@@alexschofield8085 I'd say so, they all seemed to *know* that the TS3 fire was the end for them, so maybe they can only die/be hurt by getting burnt. There's a zebra in TS4 that's been ripped completely in half, and is still perfectly fine, he even makes a joke about it.
More Memory Theory Evidence: Ham is a piggy bank making him an object. Since Andy sees him as a toy instead of a decoration or just a piggy bank, he is alive. Bo-Peep is a decoration as well, she comes to life because Andy, Molly, and other children in the short Lamp Life view her as a toy. The reason Wheezy is sick is because he is being forgotten.
I like your shirt Seamus Edit: I wrote this comment like 10 seconds into the video which was before you took the clouds one off so I'm pretty much editing this comment to say I like both of your shirts.
I would like to add just a bit to your theory in that, yes, toys are memorable but I think in Woodys' & Bo Peep's case, they have a purpose while most toys just have a potential purpose. Bo Peep shows Woody more in Toy Story 4 beyond what Woodys' limited scope of the world is up to that point. His potential purpose grew into a full purpose. Combine that with the memories of Woody people carry and that makes toys capable of much more than just being remembered.
You moving to America is the best thing you’ve ever done. I love this seamus... keep going with PIXAR. The background and lighting alone makes you look so much more professional
Ok. Here’s my theory. It’s totally on the “toys live through memories” theory too. The Velveteen Rabbit Theory I give it this name because of the book by the same name, which in summery tells the story of a little boy who receives a stuffed rabbit toy fur Christmas and adores it more than his other toys. The velveteen rabbit meets a rocking horse, the Skin Horse who is all raggedy and the horse explains he has became “real” he has been loved to bits that no matter how ugly or ruined he becomes he will always be seen as new by the child who loved him and he will always be remembered. Anyway, of course the story ends with the rabbit becoming real, like he becomes a real rabbit. So here’s the theory Woody has been in Andy’s family for a long time, his mom tells Al she won’t sell it because it’s an old family toy, Andy tells Bonnie he’s had him as long as he can remember, so we know that there is no shortage of memory of Woody, by multiple people. So by Toy Story 4 has been ripped, lost, almost destroyed, and loved through that we know he meets the qualifications to be real. The reason Woody can do all those things Seamus said is because Woody is no longer a toy. He IS really special, in Toy Story 4 he is more like a guide for the other toys, The Skin horse for other toys, but he himself has become truly real.
I think the Pixar Theory has taken a turn for the better with the addition of Onward. It strengthens the Pixar Theory so much it’s honestly kinda funny. There is a little bit of guessing involved, but I’ve figured out a way it fits, and it completely changes the entire thing. Basically, Onward takes the place of the first movie in the Pixar universe and basically what happens is someone must have wanted to destroy that magic because of the power it has. So someone tries but it it ends up destroying the planet into a bunch of smaller planets, one of them being Earth. It states in Onward, “Theres magic in everything,” so Earth still has the magic it once had when it was this other planet. The rest of the Pixar timeline is the same except now there is a source of magic. And since magic is in everything, we know that it is used in different ways in each film.
Do It Too, there would have to be an apocalyptic event to destroy all traces of monster civilization, and we have no evidence of that. If it’s between A Bug’s Life and Monsters Inc you get the same problem. I haven’t seen a convincing way to fit Onward into the Pixar Theory, maybe they won.
I am convinced the idea for this video has been stuck in Seamus' head for a while but he waited to film it untill he was in America so he could ask Ben that one question in real life
I love that you can just run down the hall and consult with Ben. Please do this constantly, even if it annoys him. No, especially if it annoys him. Great video!!
I’m on 7:04. What if toys come to life from forms of love? Those blocks, though toys, can’t be loved. On the other hand, a spork that you loved so much you put your name on can. This would also explain why Pete and the other could live for years with no playing, they’re loved by al because they’re collectibles.
I believe it is the love/care the kids have for the toys so the toys they dont care about dont come alive but the love of the child gives them life and that life stays even after the child moves on becuase they still loved those toys and remember those toys
I agree with the memory theory, but I think it’s a little more complicated than “memory=life.” I think the more memories, and the stronger the emotional connection, the “more alive” a toy can get. This can explain why Woody is so special. While being displayed in a museum might give a toy eternal life, it won’t be as visceral or enjoyable a life as one where you’re the toy of a kid. I also think kids are better at giving toys life than adults, since their imagination and emotional connection to the toys gives them more life than an adult’s indifference. This is why it’s so devastating when an owner grows up and forgets/becomes indifferent to a toy.
I like the way this video explains things, but I also have another idea. Toys come to life once they have a name. Whether given to them buy the branding, the child, etc. A name gives them life. I'm not sure about this, just thought of it while watching.
A name and a memory are pretty close I feel like. You can remember a name but not an experience, or you can remember an experience but not the name it belongs to. ‘Blocks’ didn’t have a personality or a fun experience bc he was focused on the other toys. And Etch-a-Sketch has a personality, probably some kind of teacher or presenter (as its personality is shown with the other toys), so he gets memories/experiences
I think that the more a kid plays with a toy, the more human like it becomes. So, since Andy barley played with the etch of scetch, it was only able to make slight movements and not talk. Woody, however, was played with a lot by Andy, and so he has more human like qualities
Getting their life from being actively played with, as well as being viewed as toys, makes the most sense to me. It seems like they get their life from being loved, or having love poured into them. When Forky is created, that spark is what makes him alive.
Seamus your videos cheer me up so much, honestly, even stuff that wouldn't be that funny if anyone else said it, somehow when you say, we as an audience are rolling around on the floor!

before watching: id say they become alive when a kid plays with them and becomes attached. they kinda live off the energy from the kids. possibly why wheezy was sick but became better when andy found him
I think Woody’s specialness comes from him being a security blanket. Think of it: A toy is something you play with, a security blanket is something to replace your parents affection and attention until the person is willing to let go.
Concept: The added strength of all memories of a toy positively correlates with their will to live, meaning toys that have only the faintest memories will either wish to be remembered more or to be forgotten entirely.

Hey! I didn't expect to see you here! How is the Masterdex going?
What about Etchasketch and Mr. Spell?

Don’t make him die in the end. I didn’t like the velveteen rabbit because he may real. But a little boy just lost his mother’s toy for him

Welcome back Seamus. It's like a warm blanket on a cold day. You're great.
This is a REALLY awesome video! Thanks so much for answering the long lasting toy life question.
so a stick i used as a toy surfboard years ago is plotting their revenge. that's just great thanks Seamus
Seamus this explains everything! It makes complete sense now! Mind blown! Fantastic job! 👊🏻
I like the corollary to the memory theory that the blocks just show up, nobody made them as a toy, nobody knows they're in stock in the toy aisle, they just **are**
This is my favourite video of seamus in awhile
