    Man, that Pirelli is impressive and was my top choice last month (even after being disappointed w/ 2 different sets of Pirellis in the past). That said, I was able to purchase the DWS06+ for nearly $200 less. Hard to argue w/a 30% lower cost. Hopefully the Continentals hold up well. Now it's Michelin's turn as the PSAS4 is long in the tooth.

      Im in a pickle right now, wanted some DWS06’s but they’re backordered in my size and more expensive than the P Zeros. They’re also about the same price as the PS4AS’s so I might jump on the Pirelli for the first time

When you said Pirelli was like a touring that was a shocker would be nice it had a eco benefit too some of these here got it. I know the vehicle plays a big part my biggest take way from this brand name doesn't mean everything i expected the pilot sport all season 4 to do better especially that price

  • @eagledrummer23
    @eagledrummer23 2 месяца назад +3

    The great part about this video is this: there are few better vs. worse comparisons, and far more pros vs cons. A performance all-season is an inherent compromise of characteristics, and only each driver can determine which compromises are acceptable, and which are no-go's for their given application and vehicle.
    To me, the lack of daily driver comforts for the Cooper, Michelin, and BFG make them less desirable, since a similar and better experience can be had with a dedicated summer tire. On the other hand, the Vredestein, Bridgestone, and Falken are not performance-oriented enough for the category. This leaves the remaining options (Conti, General, and Pirelli) as the best of both worlds, each with their own priorities (comfort, sportiness, and balance).
    It's hard to deny that the Pirelli is the clear outright winner, but value propositions may help the other two win out. All of these tires are miles better than the no name junk seen on so many "performance" vehicles.

    Bought the Pirelli PZero AS Plus 3 for my 2017 BMW X3 xDrive35i in 245/45 R19 in April and just hit 5,000 miles. They are so comfortable and quiet and do handle very well though I generally drive my X3 pretty conservatively but when I have pushed a little bit they are great. Drove in consistent to heavy rain for hundreds of miles traveling from Chicago to San Antonio and the wet traction and water evacuation were excellent. I paid $1017 from TR shipped which seemed like an excellent deal for such great tires. Compared to the cheap Ironman UHP all seasons that came new on my X3 when I got it in April 2021, they are pure excellence and transformed the feel of the car

    I've ran multiple sets of the pilot sports and DWS on my 2006 Lexus is350 and have always loved them. I recently switched to the Cobras though through you guys as they were significantly cheaper than the other 2 brands. I'm not upset at all. Right off the bat I could tell they had superb traction (in a straight line at least) in the dry and in the wet. With traction amd stability off i can't spin them at all when launching. Not the same story with the other 2 brand of tires lol. This set isn't as wide either. Normally I run 275's in the back but these were only 255's. Still hook up better.

      Glad you mention you can't spin them at launch. This is exact info I need cause when using launch control on my fwd A3 it just obliterates the current Goodyears that the car came with. Hopefully the coopers will help that.

    My biggest question in tire reviews is how is the tire's breakaway performance in the dry and wet. This rarely is discussed or even mentioned.
    I am on my second set of Michelin PS AS4.s because they are very progressive when nearing their limit; which often has saved my hide.

    The only three tires in this test which are offered in a size I can use are the Conti, the General, and the BFG.
    I chose the Conti (over the AS-07s) to install last week onto my daily driver wheel setup since it appears to be (going by the tread pattern and seemingly softer sidewalls than what I am currently using) the most likely to be able to handle light snow capably, and hopefully the usual cold DRY weather we get here in the winter.
    If it weren't for that snow consideration, it appears that I could have chosen the Generals without any real warmer temp/summer/dry hit at all.
    I AM looking forward to that winter test to see how the Conti stacks up to the General and BFG.
    One tire, albeit ANCIENT (not merely 'long in the tooth'!) which I would have liked to see thrown in just because of it's almost endurance track tire-like grip, razor like turn-in response/feel, and overall dry (and wet when full tread depth) handling is the Nitto Neo Gen.
    Yes, it is useless in the snow, almost scary when worn a bit in the wet, and most likely noisier, rougher riding, and nowhere near 'cushy' enough for the 'luxury car tire feel' these testers demand than anything in this test, but it is impressive for something that is at least labeled as an UHP all season (it even has the deceptive M&S designation on the side wall! LOL).
    I realize that even though TR's parent company/current owners Discount Tire (Direct, when that still existed) carried these, but it seems that they demanded that TR drop them from their lineup once they became DT's sole online, non brick and mortar dealer, so their inclusion in any test could never happen.
