This video sums up my experience with Ball pretty well recently. I do everything I can to get value and use all of my cooldowns, then the enemy doesn't die and suddently I have 200 hp, I go get some healthpacks, and then I come back and everyone is dead
the added 50+ health on every character really broke balls playstyle of having no team shield and needing to kill support/damage characters with precisely aimed headshots all within a very small window of time before the healers negate the whole scenario (ball has no way of stunning or hindering a support from starting their heal cast)
@@tomatoesofdoom You absolutely don't have to kill enemies to get value. If three enemy characters or something are looking at you, your team has a 4v2. A lot of teams will be unable to do anything with that advantage tho.
i like dive tanks but ball is one of those characters that shouldn't have been added to the game in the first place. But i had those feelings since ow1 about quit a few characters being added like moira, brig, echo, etc.

I’m perfectly ok with all the changes they’ve made this season except for ball. Every character has like what, 25-50+ extra health? Boop doesn’t get a buff, slam doesn’t get a buff, mines doesn’t get a buff, and his tiny wee little pea shooters can’t kill anything. I feel like the ONLY reason I still do pretty well with ball is because low ranks don’t know what to do about him or how to kill him. But when I do get against a team that has even a good mercy, I can’t kill anyone. I gotta swap every time
yeah fireball and pile driver didn't get compensatory buffs like most other melee abilities did when HP was increased. Balls carry potential is in the toilet but he got to be "S tier" for a week because he gets shit on the least by zen

what i realized is why ball is so hard for my MMR is when 3 people are on me my team still plays as if its a 4v5 and ignores the 3 people missing and blames me for not being a tank for the team. on top of getting his techs down and just better game sense I sometimes wonder why i even try as i stare down the barrel of sombras uzi for the 65th time that day
I dropped Overwatch for Seige a couple months ago. Good times, would recommend, new season is good. I came back last week and had fun with ball. Then I realized Sombra EMP got buffed to a 3 second lockout. It is a guaranteed tank kill. Why would they add that to the game? Do they think that making a tank player’s life miserable is good? I lost 5 or 6 games because of this change. I’m not sure there is counterplay besides asking my support to swap kiri when it is coming. Overall, Sombra is a anti fun hero, remove her immediately. Hacking through invis should’ve never been added. EMP taking away health should’ve never been added. Sombra should’ve never been added. I would rather have old Cree flash than get EMP’d again. Also Lucio’s boop buff is absurd, but at least Lucio isn’t hard cc.

My Masters games have been literal coin flips, I do have those games where I just underperform but 9 times out of 10 I'm doing everything possible to win and still manage to lose while out damaging one of my dps (mostly) and out healing the entire lobby. Shits crazy

Also how someone can go 7/11 as FUCKING SOMBRA with a Ball causing that much chaos is beyond me, bro was playing with his forehead for sure lmao
Other thing I'm thinking atm is that meta swings defining the viability of heroes, and tanks in particular (Ball went from S-tier to like D-tier in a few nudge patches) is unhealthy for the game. The tank loop is kinda messed-up at the moment. Counter-picking is also way too powerful (particularly when the other team is attacking and can just insta-swap to counter your defence comp). It's not just ball. I have friends that like playing monke, and after one fight the enemy team comes back with Mauga, Reaper etc. There's a lot of subtle things that conspire to make a pick unviable, too. E.g. - Lucio getting a boop buff is huge against ball once you reach ranks where Lucios have the concepts of object permanence - Doom can just hard counter ball by denying his existence and negating his ult by using seismic, but you can't really do anything in return beyond m1 him (at most levels, I don't think people think about doom in this way -- nobody says 'go doom to counter ball', but he is very good at disrupting your flow) Put a few of those heroes in the same team and suddenly you're getting chain stunned/displaced/body-blocked. I still think Ball needs some QoL buffs to stop bodyblocking.

To me, it seems silly to invest millions of hours crafting this beautiful game with all kinds of innovate characters, then allow a few heroes to ruin the experience. For the longest time, Sombra was underpowered outside of pro play _and_ one of the least-liked heroes in the game (source: I created a r/competitiveoverwatch survey in 2019, posted it on reddit, got 1200 responses and Sombra was considered one of the least fun heroes to play _against_ despite being a poor pick). It's very rare that you speak to anyone and hear them say, "Yeah I love playing against Sombra". Here we are 4 years later and ... yeah her gameplay loop is a bit better, but she's still like some sort of L4D infected character to play against -- just pops out of thin air removes your abilities. Not fun.

I don’t think that was the point of 5v5. It had other reasons, like tank queue times, visual clarity, and broken metas like double shield. I personally think that’s all bullshit, but those were blizzard’s reasons. I think they didn’t design ow2 to combat counterswapping, because the number 1 problem with solo tanking in my opinion is getting countered.
They extra health makes your job 10x harder lmao blizzard thought this bigger projectiles/additional health would help make it easier for new players? As if Bronze/Silver ranks exist for newer players to compete in…
The problem is Sombra, always. Not only for ball, for every tank. The fact we have only 1 tank right now let Sombra be soo strong... she can disable every tank in every moment for let tank die.
14:25 One of the main reasons why I am having an extremely hard time climbing out of Silver, even after the rank reset. (I play Dva, Sig, Ram, Moira) Even if I peel for my teammates, if they don’t follow through with the damage that I’m assisting them with, there really isn’t a point.

95% of games have Sombra players making the experience worse for us ball mains..Wrecking ball probably has to be the most useless game character in the history of gaming right now honestly. Maining an off tank like hog,ball,junker queen, along with doom since season 1 has been damn near impossible. I believe 6v6 made the off tank experience more fun and fair.
Ball is one of the few heroes to not get any sort of damage buff to acclimate to the new health maximums. It's a massive oversight on the devs. They're relying on whatever "rework" they're working on to be good enough while abandoning him in the meantime. It's a shitty experience. Takes a few seconds to change some damage numbers. He doesn't even need huge buffs. Just small ones as far as damage is concerned.
At this point it's just become counterwatch. See Reaper? play Dva. see Dva? Play zarya. See zarya? play bastion. Its so much less fun than just playing the game normally.

I’ve been saying it all season ball is ass and it took everyone relearning the other tanks to realize it only cuz balls play style just doesn’t change. His damage is trash, his health doesn’t scale with all the health increases cuz adaptive shields still gives the same amount, and matchmaking is absolutely disgusting. There’s always 1 guy who’s just dead weight, I’ll never forget my diamond game this season where I got a dps who went 3-11 and it was his first placement match on dps and he started playing last season and the other dps on the enemy team who was supposed to “compensate” by being equally terrible was not equally terrible not even close. Why tf can’t it be a tank diff for once, why do I have to play against the sweaty tanks, why can’t I be the “dead weight” I’m over this season 400 games played I’ll never get back
Praying the rework is good, hopefully it stops body blocking, makes ball do any damage, let him displace enemies even slightly. He doesn’t have to be meta, just not literally cosmetic

Didn't even really think about the breakpoints with the health buffs either, does really fuck over ball since there's so little you can do when they start healing each other with that extra time now. Needs a damage buff or to give tanks some antiheal dps passive of their own because it ruins the way all the core character designs were made.
Yeah bad days, I had it too like this soldier at the end of the video. Usually I play normally on bastion or soldier, I do many picks, i do not have may deaths, BUT sometimes, after 3-4 wins the game put me in a dead lobby: I can't do anything, I have a lot of damage (10k dmg but 7 - 10 kills!), many deaths. Seems like they are putting me against players I cannot kill, more better than me, or I do not fit the team or each other in my team.
that happens in other games as well, when you get a good win streak the ranking algorithm pairs you with people with a bad performance (bad win streak), as for example, when you get over 50% win rate, they put you in the "loser queue", so youre matched with bad people. Thats supposed to "balance" the winrate of matches, but imo its a sh`1tty setting, nothing good can come from it
Ball is honestly such a bad tank, sure you can get some easy picks with him but your team just dies around you bc you have no area control unless you’re spinning around the payload

Taking damage interrupts the hack. Taking damage does not stop her from ult unless she dies.

For the longest time, Sombra was underpowered outside of pro play _and_ one of the least-liked heroes in the game (source: I created a r/competitiveoverwatch survey in 2019, posted it on reddit, got 1200 responses and Sombra was considered one of the least fun heroes to play _against_ despite being a poor pick).
It's very rare that you speak to anyone and hear them say, "Yeah I love playing against Sombra". Here we are 4 years later and ... yeah her gameplay loop is a bit better, but she's still like some sort of L4D infected character to play against -- just pops out of thin air removes your abilities. Not fun.

And surprisingly, I kind of like fighting Sombra. At least current Sombra, Hack-cooldown aside. It's fun to kill them when they think they could escape after fucking up the Hack Virus combo.

I find it hilarious of how blizzard literally designed ow2 to counter counter-swapping, and yet the other team swaps instantly to sombra whenever me or you (chazm) play
I don’t think that was the point of 5v5. It had other reasons, like tank queue times, visual clarity, and broken metas like double shield. I personally think that’s all bullshit, but those were blizzard’s reasons. I think they didn’t design ow2 to combat counterswapping, because the number 1 problem with solo tanking in my opinion is getting countered.
They extra health makes your job 10x harder lmao blizzard thought this bigger projectiles/additional health would help make it easier for new players? As if Bronze/Silver ranks exist for newer players to compete in…

The problem is Sombra, always. Not only for ball, for every tank. The fact we have only 1 tank right now let Sombra be soo strong... she can disable every tank in every moment for let tank die.

95% of games have Sombra players making the experience worse for us ball mains..Wrecking ball probably has to be the most useless game character in the history of gaming right now honestly. Maining an off tank like hog,ball,junker queen, along with doom since season 1 has been damn near impossible. I believe 6v6 made the off tank experience more fun and fair.
Maugna gets immunity when he charges, ball needs his shield to give immunity.
Ball is one of the few heroes to not get any sort of damage buff to acclimate to the new health maximums. It's a massive oversight on the devs. They're relying on whatever "rework" they're working on to be good enough while abandoning him in the meantime. It's a shitty experience. Takes a few seconds to change some damage numbers. He doesn't even need huge buffs. Just small ones as far as damage is concerned.
At this point it's just become counterwatch. See Reaper? play Dva. see Dva? Play zarya. See zarya? play bastion. Its so much less fun than just playing the game normally.

I’ve been saying it all season ball is ass and it took everyone relearning the other tanks to realize it only cuz balls play style just doesn’t change. His damage is trash, his health doesn’t scale with all the health increases cuz adaptive shields still gives the same amount, and matchmaking is absolutely disgusting. There’s always 1 guy who’s just dead weight, I’ll never forget my diamond game this season where I got a dps who went 3-11 and it was his first placement match on dps and he started playing last season and the other dps on the enemy team who was supposed to “compensate” by being equally terrible was not equally terrible not even close. Why tf can’t it be a tank diff for once, why do I have to play against the sweaty tanks, why can’t I be the “dead weight” I’m over this season 400 games played I’ll never get back

Didn't even really think about the breakpoints with the health buffs either, does really fuck over ball since there's so little you can do when they start healing each other with that extra time now. Needs a damage buff or to give tanks some antiheal dps passive of their own because it ruins the way all the core character designs were made.

Yeah bad days, I had it too like this soldier at the end of the video. Usually I play normally on bastion or soldier, I do many picks, i do not have may deaths, BUT sometimes, after 3-4 wins the game put me in a dead lobby: I can't do anything, I have a lot of damage (10k dmg but 7 - 10 kills!), many deaths. Seems like they are putting me against players I cannot kill, more better than me, or I do not fit the team or each other in my team.
that happens in other games as well, when you get a good win streak the ranking algorithm pairs you with people with a bad performance (bad win streak), as for example, when you get over 50% win rate, they put you in the "loser queue", so youre matched with bad people. Thats supposed to "balance" the winrate of matches, but imo its a sh`1tty setting, nothing good can come from it
