    Hi there!
    In this video I am building a pair of compact 10" 2-way PA speakers using Celestion speaker drivers. This is a highly versatile pair of DIY speakers that deliver a serious punch with high quality sound yet at a low price of the components used.
    The CKT-TF1020 system is a compact 2-way speaker design suitable for stand or floor mounting. This system comprises the TF1020 10”(250mm) bass/midrange driver and CDX1-1445 compression driver fitted with the H1-7050 ‘NoBell’ horn. It is a versatile and highly portable system that offers good performance when used either stand-alone or with a sub-woofer. The 70×50 horn ensures good dispersion in both the horizontal and vertical planes, making it equally useful when mounted upright or on its side.

    DIY, compact and PA parts. Perfect. For my desktop.
    Something about the way PA plays for movie/games that cannot be beat. Dynamically they are king as far as I am concerned.

      You nailed it. I built some speakers from DIYSG for my HT and they're 98 db sensitivity. Dynamics are huge without massive power requirements.

      @@tommywilliamsjr.697 I had to dump the 15 inch woofers due to space and stuff (also 1 broke in a move), but there never was a lack of clarity or reserve. I had them new when BF2 came out, and they stuck with me until not too long ago.
      Have smaller stereo ones now with ribbons. Meh.
      Found this video perusing the web on the prowl for a design with compression drivers. But size and power and weight, I pulled out the 1U amp and wanted to stay with that, so now have to decide surround with phantom centre or simple LCR. These do look tempting... But thinking I will start with 2× the Obelix-S from K+T 2013/06, modified the design slightly. Should be a good fit on a smaller desk.

      Wonder if 10" is a great middleground for creating high undistorted SPL while not having a big directivity mismatch with the compression driver, while the compression driver is also crossed high enough to play undistorted.
      Specially since I'll cross into a subwoofer anyway.

    Cuando Joven hice un par con dos Woofer Saba de 10," menos detalles. Revestidos con papel madera.

    • @childishtombino1275
      @childishtombino1275 2 года назад +2

      A 200wpc amp is ideal.
      LF driver is 150wRMS and the HF is 20wRMS, that gives you 180w of total RMS handling, in theory.
      It does depend on how loud you intend on driving them, but the weaker the amplifier, the less dynamic range you'll have and the higher the chance you will clip the output stage, which is worse than having a slight overload on power.
      If you choose to add positive EQ to these speakers, you will run out of headroom with a 50w amplifier very quickly, especially with lower frequencies.
      Just because it would be a 200w amplifier, doesn't mean it will be going full send as that isn't how audio works.

      I have built my cabs to house a 15in woofer an 8in midbass and a super tweeter all of the individual speakers are rated to handle over 600 watts but my crossover is rated at 300 watts so if I give more power than the crossover can handle they turn into a large paper weight

    • @TheSimonarne
      @TheSimonarne 2 года назад +2

      yeah i dont know enough about crossovers to know how much this one can handle. i saw some wattages and stuff but i dont know how much each individual component would be hit with the load i guess. then again this setup was hitting what 50w per channel probably wont blow up. if they would hook up the amp i'm using wich is the Behringer KM1700 800w at 4 ohm per channel there might be some smoke or broken parts i guess. mine are 1700w mono for use with subwoofers that i havent gotten to yet.

      I'm running a Yamaha m-80 amp that will put out just over 300 watts per speaker per channel, after there was work done on it and with my amp set up to just below clipping I can't turn up the pre-amp to 4 before it is so loud stuff starts to fall off the walls

    I want to build these speakers, but how is the quality and loudness of the speakers. Because the ports seem very short. So whats the experience using the speakers. Cause €600 is a lot of money for me

    • @DonnyTerek
      @DonnyTerek  Год назад

      It is actually hard for me to help you decide since these were the first PA speakers that I built. The price tag to build a pair of these is quite high compared to what you can get off the shelf but I do like the sound quality. I paired these with the Behringer A800 and I do like the crisp highs and the wide soundstage. Was expecting a bit more bass from these but they are tuned to 80Hz with the port length as in the design. I think you could make yourself a relatively inexpensive pair of these if you can source cheaper crossover components (I paid over $100 for mine) and build the enclosures yourself.
