Hi everyone! Thanks for tuning in to this project of mine, I hope you'll like it and perhaps try to build it yourself! As always I have included a detailed list of modified plans, a wiring diagram, product links and much more for your information on the build. I encourage you to check my video first before diving in to the build. Let's get started!
I hope you liked this project and perhaps learned something new! My hopes are that you will give this build a try yourself ! Feel free to post any questions or comments down below, I will try my best to answer them.
Thank you for tuning in to this project of mine and I will see you on the next one! Хобби
Looks great! a lot better than before, especially that carbon touch, was really worried about the volume knobs hitting the wood but turned out the be great.
Thank you a lot! Yeah I was afraid myself that the knobs would hit the panel but it turned out great.
Carbon Vinyl Wrap looks excellent. Should have done the whole thing in the wrap. I'm going to fix up my speakers with that wrap now.
I picked up the EXACT same sub woofer from hard rubbish and, after I figured out it was originally part of a Logitec-only set, realised a separate plate amplifier might save it: I'll be following your steps to the letter (although I might respray the cabinet along the way). Thanks for this!
That's a great find! These subwoofers are amazing to this day, hope yours turns out great.
Outstanding repurposed subwoofer. I’ve done similar with an old Bose Acoustimass and a Polk subwoofer. These new inexpensive Chinese plate amps are great for projects such as this one.
Thank you! Exactly!
Only downside is they dont have the dsp tuning made for the driver but still a great way to bring a good little sub back to life.
Cool project! I recently got this same subwoofer for cheap at a thrift shop. While it works fine, I decided to turn it into a sealed subwoofer, to get more even frequency response, and a tighter sound. Tore out the port, added some foam padding to the interior walls, and covered the port hole with a piece of plywood. Sound much better than before!
Thanks! Would love to hear the difference to the ported enclosure!
@@DonnyTerek Would be hard to record it directly with my equipment, but as you'd expect, it's a flatter and punchier response. Loving it!
Legendary subwoofer from Logitech!!
The best!
Very well thought out and built to a high standard , nice !
Thank you! Much appreciated.
What a great job that you and your colleague are doing together to restore all that old active sound box with amplifier. When I see how you work, it gives me the feeling,,,, This is also something for me to restore all those antique sound boxes in no time to almost as new. Good job my friend. Thanks for sharing this interesting video 👍👍👍😎
Thank you so much for watching and leaving such a kind comment! Truly appreciated.
Thank you, Interesting build. I have one of these also but the sub channel stopped working (was down to a whisper. Tried to figure out what was wrong but have no idea so replacing the amp seems like a great idea, make it blue tooth also. Any reason not to rebuild a bigger speaker box and put everything into one rather than using the original sub box?
Interesting to see the comments about the original satellite speakers not being up to par.
Thank you for watching! Glad you liked the video.
I guess you might have a dead chip on the amp just like I did. That's why I got this sub for real cheap. Though I decided to go with a 2.1 Bluetooth amp to be able to connect a pair of speakers as well. Personally I don't see a point of rebuilding the sub enclosure since it has a great and compact design. It could use new paint or veneer on the outside though.
The lovely radiotechnika (supersound) woofers!
i hv z906 for years n broken last year. recently i bought a pair of klipsch 620f n i thought the bass is already too much, until i hook my old z906 sub together.. damn it sound more awesome n ground shaking with sub
Muy lindo trabajo!!! Se nota que sabe de electrónica.
Bought this subwoofer in 2009 and still plays great
Same here 🤙
These oldes Logitech z2300, z2200, z680, z5500 was using very good and really powerfull amps.
Just got me a set from a garage sale today was rockin a z313&323 combined 2 system before tht was 150 an mannnn the 2200 is a huge difference!!
I've been watching for a while now and honestly I rly like ur audio vids its helps me carry on my passion of designing and creating speaker and audio things
Wow, thank you! Would love to see your builds.
Hey donny I'd like to ask what are some pro tips you could give
Sir this is amazing and to be very tru I am inspired from your videos and started making small unit as of now. I will up load the making video shortly
Thank you so much sir! It means a lot that I have inspired you to build your own.
z2200 logitec.. i used to have this speaker, perfect sound solid bass.. but now i upgraded to infinity speakers and whaferdale
It was beautiful. Good project as a Z2300 user. Spectacular.
Thank you very much!
I like that you have every tools and parts👍👍
Nice work.. such an elaborate way to repair a burnt chip amp.
Glad you liked it!
Information very important do you know the clip that is known to go?
Where to look on the plate amp?
Nice work I would have done the from with the carbon fibre vinyl to
I have a old THX logitech 5.1 and its still working. I tried upgrading to the newer version of sub with controller but they removed the extra line in, so I went back to the old system. Mostly because they downgraded the subwoofer design. Paying more for less sound quality was the products Logitech was making before they left Fremont to Newark.
Amazing build.... I have a logitech z623 subwoofer, and i want to know is there any amp can i use to attach edifier S2000MKIII active speakers?
Man! The level of detail on your work is Insane!
I agree! And that Akuma logo is the ish!!
Glad you think so!
Great job! I love the "carbon fiber" finish! Could you keep the original internal toroidal transformer with bridge rectifier to avoid using those noisy switching power supply brick?
Thanks!
I guess it is possible to leave the internal transformer, just not sure how it could be converted to DC.
@@DonnyTerek you can do a very simple bridge rectifier with only two cheap electronic parts: a diode bridge and a capacitor. Also some amp board sometime can take ac voltage directly as they have the bridge rectifier onboard.
Hey that's a great idea. I might use the old amp for a different sub or vice versa.
Great work super. I'm also tried it double subwoofer 👍
Great 👍
i did the same, i made an actibe sub, changed the box to my Z2300 in a huge 20hz tuned box with 500W Sub and it shakes my house appart with my other z906
Very cool and good that you reused any old sub and make it new but you should have put a bigger amp in it but that is my opinion
I still have the original subwoofer use it every day. :)
Nice!
Great Project! Love it!
Thanks so much!
Great job Donny, keep it up 👊🏼😎
Thank you Francisco! I will do my best to do so! 👊🏼
Very good work, men!!! Thank you for your inspiration!!! I also have a defective 2300er subwoofer ... Hmmm ... :-) :-) :-)
Its better just to fix it. Let it with the original amp. The original amp is way better because is AB class plus it have proper power supply. If u want Bluetooth feature just add Bluetooth module on input. I want to say great job but in next projects try to use better amp and u will see the difference.
aquariumnya keren bro
👍👍👍
NICE RRR S90 Drivers on those stereo towers :3 Respected from Latvia
Haha, thanks bro!
Excelente!! No me canso de ver el video.
How did you hook this up to your stereo L & R speakers?
Def done similar to old subs myself. With cheaper subs the amp is always the weak spot. Although it looks like it used a solid torrid ab design in the og setup.
Hey I'm purchasing KRK Rokits and wondering if i can have it all hooked up together without converting it like you did?
my Z636 Logitech sub has a RCA L/R aux input on the back. Could I theoretically use a Y splitter to connect to the L and R aux input on the back of the sub and then run to the LFE output on a receiver and use this sub for home theatre use? Just disable the speakers by unhooking the negative wire on each internally yet still use the volume control on them. This way the LFE signal is only being output by the subwoofer. Do you suppose this would work?
i have 6 of them logitech :)
they are super,, but again i open and make it with new cable to connect other bigger subwoofers with their amp. and stereos edited, they are just nice and strong amp on it
Very nice!
Muito legal 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Poderia ter envelopado a caixa toda ...
Super. I am loving it❤️
Thank you so much 🙂
I like your perfection dude........... Interesting.
Keep it up
Thanks, will do!
Excellent and very professional work, congratulations
Kindly appreciated, thank you!
This is Z2300, one of the best Logitech subwoofer's. But you transformed it
Totally impressed. Noob question. Why did you not use the toroidal? Seems a waste of a nice toroid.
Thanks! The class-D amp uses DC voltage, so I used a DC power supply instead.
Ottimo lavoro, ben fatto e curato
fing hate show offs... my hand good at punching full stop..... nice work
this is so fuckign cool.. and you just posted it last week haha.. amazing.. I'm picking these up whenever I can and this is awesome. I am using one of them right now in my car for the bass. got it connected to a power inverter and a bluetooth adapter.
Haha, thank you so much bro!
Donny you're absolutely fabulous
great video glowing lights would have made it perfect
Next time!
An interesting solution with orc glass! Greetings from Diy sound
Thank you Diy Sound! Cheers!
is there a way to do that with the logitech z5500 and a 5.1 stream?
Excellent work. Very nice subwoofer!
Thank you! Really appreciate that 🙏
@@DonnyTerek your project was great 👍👌😀 I have one laying around the house but mine still works. I have a Logitech Z5500 subwooer only it works I just have that. Can you do a video on that or have you try to make the whole part you did an just sale them pre-made an just have ppl do plug an play 😁👍
Whats the music you used at the end of the video while testing the speakers 🔊 🤔
I have the exact Sub. Would love it if you could convert mine like you did yours.
Bc of that new amp board, can you now also use this sub as a .1 in a 5.1 setup, connecting it to the sub pre sub out port on a receiver?
This subwoofers beast
Nice subwoofer...alwayz watching....godbless🙂🙂🙂❤❤❤💯💯💯🙏🙏🙏
🙌
Very nicely done !
Thank you very much!
Which remote is that? Does it come with the chinese board... Pls reply bro.....
Very nice. So meticulous and intentional. Precise. You make this look easy. Excellent work
Thank you a lot!
MDF COMPULSORY FOR SUB?? IF WE USE ORDINARY PLY?
i have a z5500, using its sub with PAM 8610 & my custom 2 stage LPF using lf353 from google to watch tv at low volume, made 2.1 system using this & another 8610 paired with a tube preamp for the satellites, all this powered using the set top box usb power to which a dc boost to 12v is connected, opamp PS is a 15-0-15 v dual transformer, using this for the past 3 years. Also i have that 3116 D2, 2.1 module whose sound i did not like, cause maybe the ne5532 were operated on single supply 24v.
That's great! Good work.
Recycling, that is the way to go. The Logitech Z2300 subwoofer still has a lot of life to it. I was thinking of using mine, alas I gave it away. Lots of second-hand units around, cheap, buy 4 units make them 2 woofers in push pull, and 2 separate subwoofers in stereo mode I believe the sound will be awesome.
This is definitely still a powerful sub and can pack a serious punch.
I still haver mine but i'm still trying to find the orginal remote for it, hard to come by and pricey for a working one, ive considrred converting mine for just that reason.
beautiful work
Thank you very much!
That’s a nice toroid inside
at 804 I Paused this. Whoever is Putting this together KNOWS His STUFF! He makes it look SO EASY! I am Guessing his name is Donny the Tech. Right on Job . Keep up the Great work. Do you know how to Fix a 400 Disc Sony CD player? I just need an Elastic runner thing placed on the wheels to spin properly for the Carousel to go around. Let me know. I will pay you good.
Thank you.
Thank you so much! Much appreciated.
Would love to help you with that but I'm afraid shipping costs would make it impractical and cause risk of damaging sensitive electronics inside.
@@DonnyTerek Very Smart. I didn't think that far. But it is ok. I will find someoen who is as good as you are to fix this. Thank you for the Comment. A Great way to keep people at and on your best side. Thanks Donny Tech ;)
adoro ver esse tipo de video,
Hy i have a boat soundbar model 2050.
The subwoofer has 6 inch 80w subwoofer can i upgrade the subwoofer to 6 inch 100w or above ?
How much max voltage subwoofer I can upgrade without burning the cicuit?
very professional .... i like it
Old is gold gold
I need a small form powered sub for home theater use. I want to convert my Logitech THX sub to a home theater sub. Its a really killer hard hitting little sub. I do have a amp I can use from a larger sub. Might just pull it off and see what I can do.
Sure, give it a try. This sub does really pack a punch.
Nice job
If you could use some glue to reduce the pressure on volumes by the weight of the module, that could be really good
Great project! Wich crossover do you used for this subwoofer?
Thanks! A crossover is not needed for the sub using this amplifier.
Nice job 👍
Hi... nice project... was wondering that most of the caps were 16V and 24V power supply is being used. Will it not damage the internals of the board?
Hi, thanks! The caps on the board are rated at 35V. The board accepts up to 24V power supply.
nice project!
Thank you! Cheers!
Bro
That sub is just running at 75w cause the tpa 3116d2 only gives 75w for 4ohm sub
Use a different amp like the 1943 5200 type
I thought it was dependent on the power supply he said he was using 8a most of those only come with 4a maybe it's a different version it had a pretty big heatsink
@@Durkhead he used a 4amp powersupply but the text on screen said 8amp. He could have used a 8amp psu later on in the video but we dont know that
That's a great point. To me 75w is plenty for this sub. I was aiming for a wireless amp like this one, but I could definitely get more power using the 1943 5200 type.
Yeah I did not have an 8 amp supply on hand, still waiting for it to arrive.
@@DonnyTerek are you gonna link that other one if you find one that is similar to the one you used now
Wow its amazing!
Thank you! Cheers!
What sort of Logitech speaker is it? Nice componentry inside.
It's a Logitech Z2300 subwoofer. 8 inch, 8 ohm driver, 120 watt RMS. Nice Class AB amplifier in that thing. Shame he didn't reuse it.
Thanks for making that clear. I would have a hard time rebuilding a blown amp and making it to a 2.1 system without the wired remote control.
Nice work.. I wish I kept my Creative Gigaworks 750 to fix this way.. as I gave it away.. sad..
Thank you! Hopefully it got into the right hands where it was fixed this way, haha.
hi there;
i have a logitech z906 5.1 sound sistem and i have a plan,
the plan is to use the z906 hardware to bult a hifi sound bar including the bass and all 5 speaker and control panel.
what do u think about this, can i transform the z906 to a amateur hifi?
Great conversion!
I have a Phillips SPA5300/10 pc speaker system with 10" subwoofer that I use to connect to my phone while working in my little mancave.
Sometimes it muffles down after some playtime (hours) and after a while it goes up to normal again.
Any recomention to new ampboard to replace the current one? The system is rated at 100w by Phillips. Love the sound btw. Due hearing loss and hearing aid useage I do not like sharp discant sounds.
Thank you!
I would go with a 2.1 amp, something like this: s.click.aliexpress.com/e/_DErjxkl . Plenty of power for most setups and easy to connect.
@@DonnyTerek Thank you! That seems indeed perfect! I will let you know when or if I go ahead and do the conversion 🙂
@@MrCaprinut Awesome! Let me know if any help is needed. Good luck!
Do you have tips for 2 speakers i could purchase for this subwoofer? A friend of mine gave it to me but i dont have any speakers for actual sound and i have 0 knowledge about speakers
With the stock amp, try JBL Control 1 (not the pro)
Very nicely done.
Thanks!
nice build!
Thanks!
Radiotechnika S-90 😍
Yes with some facelift. they sound awesome without that garbage of a subwoofer
sana all kumpleto sa gamit
God luck bro
God job guys....... 👍👍👍👍
Thanks bro!
Hi, I've got a fully working Z-2300 I've had for 16 years. I'm planning to do this too. My question is I've got 25w 6 ohm bookshelf speakers. Ill be using a 9.2a 24v adapter. Is the sub 8ohm? The amp spec shows it runs 100w at 2ohm on the sub. How much difference is there compared to the stock power output of the sub on the stock amp? And would 25w 6ohm speakers work well? Thanks
Hi!
The sub of the Z-2300 is 8 Ohm as I remember. I wasn't actually able to test the difference since my stock amplifier was blown, haha. The amp supports 4-8 Ohm speakers so you should be good using the 6 Ohms. I would write to the guys at Arylic, I'm sure they will provide you more accurate info on the amp.
Hope this helps.
@@DonnyTerek I'm going to replace mine (working) with a Monacor SAM-200D amp so I can integrate it into a Hi-Fi amp w/sub out.
Just wondering what the thickness of the mdf you used was and also if you can provide the dimensions of it when it was cut to fit the sub enclosure. Also did you use the original screws to screw it into the enclosure or were they longer, thicker etc? Thanks
Tidy work but the new back doesn' t fit in the recess where the plate amp was.
Hi, Logitech Z623 vga cable is broken. There are 15 colored cables inside the cable. Do you know which part of the cables come to the VGA end? I would be glad if you could help.
Hey, sorry but I have no idea since I did not own a Z623. Hope you find some info online. Best of luck.
Nice project
Thank you! Cheers!
👍👍👍 great job!!!
Thank you! Cheers!
wow man good work
Thank you so much 😀
the original amp plate was already about 200 watts but you cant use ur own speakers and u need a control pod so still cool
Well said.
I too have a z2300 New from like 10 + yrs ago , good to see a referbished good old system rebuilt, i dont know what it is but these old z2300 sub amps are like bullet proof as in i blew me sats a while ago, and have used many speakers current panasonic bluray setup front l/r mains that are around 100wat, But really this sub drives the original 8 " sub driver and a 12" Boss 1000w chaos extreme cxx12 in paraelle , to some real low and powerful bass in me custom Sealed 12" 16mm g&s mdf Box, so dont underestimate the power of these bad boys , and even drived a old 15" sub!
Can you tell the testing music name?
amazing work ! can this chipset work with Logitech z625 ?
Thanks! Yes, the amplifier can power the z625 just as well.
Keren , bisa menginspirasi..
Great job! 👏
Thank you!
