      SamGuthrie1977 There are still problems in western countries, when it comes to women rights. Alabama abortion law is the best example. Just because you are living in a country with democracy doesn’t mean you can’t criticize things. This comic is trash though.

    All I've seen are aposematic-haired larpers running around in bad, polyester rip-offs of Medieval-length cloaks and pioneer-style sun bonnets. 🤦🏾‍♀️
    Which rather pisses me off, because I personally love wearing actual cloaks in the winter; I got addicted to the convenience and warmth when I was working at a Renaissance Festival. 😂

    P.S: The second you made up that Scare Bears bit, you created phantom memories for everyone of that idea actually existing.

    Nightwing was raped by Devin Grayson... I mean "Tarantula," and it was never mentioned again because it was only like the sixth or seventh most traumatizing thing to happen to him that evening.
    Barda grew up on Apokolips under the reign of the god king manifestation of tyranny itself, and she was "broken" because she found out her friend got MeToo'ed in between murder training torture sessions?

    • @Jim-Tuner
      @Jim-Tuner 5 лет назад +3

      The original Kirby story was different. Barda was the commander. Her subordinate had a mental breakdown and ran away. Barda kept covering up the desertion and bringing her back. Her surbordinate eventually got picked up by Wilck and was tortured to death. That made Barda start questioning the system leading to her eventually staging a mutiny of her unit to help Scott and then later deserting.
      After her first desertion, she blames her immediate superiors and still praises Darkseid. Even then, she still believed in the system but thought that the sub-leaders not properly following orders was the problem.

    This is another total rewrite of a series of Jack Kirby Stories. In particular Mister Miracle 3 (1971), 4 (1971), 6 (1971) and parts of 9 (1971).
    You can see that she has obvious read each story carefully, decided it wasn't to her standards and then rewrote them.
    Notes:
    - Steppenwolf was long dead by the time of these stories. He was killed by Highfather in a flashback in New Gods 7
    - Wilick was killed by Himon, not Barda and the Furies. (Mister Miracle 9)
    - Barda deserted to Earth (and Scott) in Mister Miracle 3. She did not immediately go back to apokolips.
    - The female furies showed up on Earth in Mister Miracle 6. They were assigned to kill both Scott and Barda but failed. They later deserted to Earth in Mister Miracle 8.
    - Earth was at this time the battlefield for the fights between New Genesis and Apokolips. The war did not involve major direct military attacks on New Genesis itself.

    I think you might be missing the point a bit. It doesn’t matter what she read of the fourth world, the story would’ve been the same. The narrative was set from the beginning. She could’ve read the omnibus in its entirety and she still would’ve written the story this way. She was going to fit her story to the characters, not the other way around.

    Mini-rant coming!
    Unfortunately stories like this, and that X-men producer recently saying the name "X-Men" is outdated because their are females on the team, are the reason some women find a bit of push back in this industry now.For decades women came into comics and went with the flow. If they wondered where the sexism was on Apocalypse, they never wrote it because they knew the fans did not want to read that story. Or they wrote it so subtle that you didn't even notice until you became a adult. Everything was fine then! Now though, when its "cool" to be geek, they are being pushed in comics with no real respect for the lore, and want to change it all to fit their world view instead of understanding THAT world.
    Comics have basic foundations: Batman is a human detective, Superman is a alien, Captain America fought in WW2, Spiderman is in NYC, apocalypse is a hell where the worst things happen to you, the X-Men is a team name where the "men" is for mankind, ect. You write on these foundations, not come in and try to break them. Most female fans understand this and do not want things changed into this however, writers like Castellucci, who has no respect for the legacy she was given, give them a black eye.

    This is the final nail in the coffin... Jack Kirby's legacy is destroyed between Tom King on Mister Miracle and this writer on Female Furies. Of all the things DC could have surrenderred to the SJWs at DC, why was Jack Kirby's child first in line? All this while Marvel ruins Stan Lee with the monthly issues having the passive-aggressive soap box republished from the 80s or whatever.

    • @Jim-Tuner
      @Jim-Tuner 5 лет назад +3

      The actual "final" nail is Tom King and Ava DuVernay writing the New Gods movie.
      DC hurting New Gods has a long history though. One of the first things they did after Kirby left DC in the 1970s was revive New Gods and Mister Miracle.
      Then when they hired him to write a conclusion to New Gods, they pulled the plug after about 20 pages and got him to write something else. They further took all the completed art, re-inked it, re-formatted it and manged it because it didn't properly "bleed" to the edges of the pages.
      Then, rather than do New Gods stories, they put him on "super powers" which was an all-star DC mini-series. Then after he was gone again, they revived New Gods again under other people.

      There is a difference between the book and the show. If you have only read the book, you might get a different impression from the show.

      @@Jim-Tuner I mean, it's just the whole premise that's intriguing. I was hoping to begin watching the show after reading it so that what i see doesn't taint my impression of the book.

      @@jjk1039 I agree that the premise done by Margaret Atwood in the book was quite interesting.

    I love how this series/author is ostensibly in favor of women and anti rape culture, yet they refer to a victim of rape as "broken".... that's actually insulting to people who have experienced rape/sexual assault. Imagine being so bad at your job that you can't even support your purse puppies without just stepping all over them anyways.
    EDIT: What the fuck? So the same woman who constantly told Aurelie that she was lying and just get over it HAD HERSELF BEEN ASSAULTED? THAT MAKES NO FUCKING SENSE! So if she had personally experienced it, and remembering it was bad enough to make her stop and cry, why would she just brush Aurelie off that easily!
