You're awesome!!! saved my Dremel !!!! That exact same issue with the stator. Just one tip for anyone with the same problem as me: depending on which of the two loose contacts is the problem, you may not be able to unwind a single turn to reconnect the wire. Just solder a stub of wire in case you have the issue on the wrong end of the coil (you won't be able to unwind it).
I wish I had read this comment before trying to unroll the inner thread, I cut it trying, but noticed that on the other side the innermost turn was slightly separated from the others, I pulled it and bingo! It was precisely the strand that had been cut, I think from factory leaves that strand separated to indicate that it is the first round.
Followed exactly your video, the problem was as you said, in the stator circuit. Trimmed the wire and put it back, now it's working again. I would never have figured it out on my own. Thanks very much, you have saved me time and money.
Good morning, friend I am Brazilian living in Portugal I have a Dremel 3000 with little use today I was using it and it stopped working, I contacted the assistance and I was informed that I would spend about $ 60.00, I went to do a search on the yotube and found his video thank you very much and congratulations I managed to fix my dremel without difficulty and without spending any money thanks. Sorry the English translator kkk
Also, thanks from myself. My Dremel 3000 failed last week. Followed your dis-assembly procedure and diagnostics and found the exact same problem! It's now working fine. Excellent work.
Brilliant video. We watched a different video with similar instructions but less detailed and we nearly gave up after trying to reattach the wires and still no luck. Its only through this video that we found out the previous fix hadn't worked because of the layer over the wire that needed to be scraped off. Thankyou!
Muchas gracias. Thanks. Less than 10 minutes and I have repared muy son's DREMEL 3000. Many thanks from Buenos Aires, Argentina
Mine didn't work anymore about one month ago. As the stator winding had an on/off broken wire I thought it was something on the small circuit board, or the switch. Couldn't find anything wrong. Today I saw your video and checked the Dremel again. It's back in operation. Thanks a lot! :)
Not an electronic whizz by any means. This is my second 3000, the first one went the same way without a whole lot of use, but as it was for work I put it a new one through my business. When this one stopped in exactly the same way I thought I'd look at the You Tube oracle as I was hacked off with using this similarly infrequently. As the last poster said, I cannot believe i've fixed it. turned it on and expected a spark but was 'shocked' but in a good way. Thanks so much for the step by step.
Thank you! You saved me time and money. I was able to determine that I had a bad stator. I not able to repair it but I did find a replacement part. My Demel 395 has lasted through 25 years of abuse. Made in the USA and well worth repairing.
Thank you, thank you, thank you! … exact same problem with my Dremel 3000, fixed it using your easy instructions! … it must be the Achilles heels of the 3000 series. But what an easy fix, cheers again!
MUCHAS GRACIAS.
apparently I'm the only one whose stator wire simply will not so easily be soldered. I've basically unwound the entire thing trying to find the lost wire for continuity. This video is still one of the best ones - but I wish someone had covered that part. though I don't think there's any smoking guns here. Don't lose track of the broken wire. It's hard to do. but I found a way haha
You made my day!!! In my case, the broken wire came from the core of the winding (the 1st turn) so I couldn't unwind one turn. Instead, I managed to un-enamel the last millimeters and soldered a bare wire. A warm hug from Argentina!
Off-topic: I feel empathy towards electronic components! I suffer when I see them suffer. So, when I saw you applying 9 volts to a white LED I felt my heart was about to explode! ;-) Please don't do that for a long time without a series resistor (from my own experience...)
Thanks for this. It was the first Dremel repair video I looked at and showed exactly the problem I had with mine; broken connection in the stator coil. From reading the comments here it seems like a common issue. Thanks again.
Obrigado!
Mine had the exact same fault after fairly light use, I repaired it the exact same way and now it works again. Thanks Young DIY. Bad design Dremel....!
This repair works!!! Thank you for posting the vid, I have been searching long for a solution and this was the only repair that worked. Thanks a million!!!
continuity check failed for one of the stator coils, wire looked ok, i pulled a little harder and it came off, unwinded 1 turn and clipped back, working back again seriously, continuity check is a must, thos little metal clips can cut the wire and keep it in place, so visul check won't do. thanks for the video, my dremel is back to work now
I watched this and found out how to take it apart. Found out my problem was tons of dog hair and nail dust! Blew it all out and worked like new! My wife is a dog groomer. You have to open it up to get it all out to make it work. This is definitely another possibility. Thanks for the video!
Thank you for the video ..After 2years lying in the toolbox not working, and me wanting to throw it away , it,s working again , all the time i thought it was the speed controller broken .
right on. Thanks. Just a video editing tip, when the camera is close up on something and is less sharp, slow down the speed frames so we can follow the details better.
Thanks! It will be exiting to see if my Dremel suffer from the same problem. It just stopped. And it haven’t been used many hours. So strange that Dremel don’t fix this issue.
Yes, one pays a premium, sure the build quality is excellent but to what use if the thing stops working for no apparent reason! One can buy 3-4 cheap Chinese variants for the price of a Dremmel.
THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!😃 Even a Dis-Electric as myself could fix his machine 👍🏼 (I usually HATE video tutorials. Yours is JUST RIGHT! 😊👍🏼) stefan in Germany
Thanks for the video. I'm having trouble freeing up the wire, as it's trapped under the coil. If I pull it too hard, the wire breaks. Any idea how I can get around this? Thanks
Hello! Thanks for that video! :) I can't rotate the main axe like you do at 6:27, it's stuck somehow, I don't know why. Do you know how I can fix that issue, please?
what screw size/spec are you using? None of mine seem to be working. Also, can you suggest a fix for my dremel? The head is stuck inside the collet inside the shaft and it still spins but i can't change tools.
Mine shut down suddenly, managed to open it after some struggling realising the stickers hold the half's together! =) Had I seen this I would saved a few minutes, what ever I checked the bearings and disassembled it as you did, had continuity over the coils, checked with multimeter. Suspected the component near where the cord attaches but saw nothing. Decided it wouldn't hurt to clean up the rotor where the coals touch since it was black, after few minutes with fine sandpaper it had a nice copper shine again, reassembled and to my surprise the damn thing was a alive again! One more thing I did was to spray contact spray in the power lever. Not sure what finally fixed it. Well constructed otherwise, easy to open and service if needed. Might open a cheap "Dremmel clone" just for comparison. :) Thanks for posting the video!
This is the second video showing the same problem as the Dremel 3000, it happened to me exactly the same. Thanks for your instructions. but is it possible that the exact same problem happens in three cases and maybe also to others ?!
Four years later u r still helping people. Thanks man.
3 years after this video was uploaded, i just fixed my dremel by following your instructions, thanks man!

Great video. Very informative without any blah blah blah stories and stuff. I like how you made the continuity tester as well, ingenious!

Thanks a lot! That's the last thing I would've thought of. I was already going to order a new power switch when I stumbled upon your video.
Fixed my Dremel thank you, evidently it is a weak point common to this model
Well done! I will try and fix mine now as Dremel said too old to repair
Had exactly the same problem with my Dremel 3000. Excellent instructions!

Yep, broken wire, now all fixed. Thanks for putting up the video. Perfect 🙌
A well thought out description of all shown parts . Fixed mine , thanks again . Keith.
I can't nelieve i just fixed my Dremel....shaft was stuck but motor wanted to turn. Your video still helped...yay

Exactly the same fault on mine. Good save. Cheers.
Thank you, problem found (armature wire off and visual) and Dremel running again, saved me a fair amount of money.
Thank you , 10 mins and mine is now fixed. Long live the dremel 3000 !
Thank you so much! Now I won't have to travel really far and pay an exorbitant fee to get it fixed. My Dremel works again.

Awsome, Thank you Dude. Greetings from Turkey.
This video has shown me that the seam between the two housing parts are actually under the stickers. Thanks.
Awesome fix. Worked brilliantly. Thanks!

Thanks for the tips.. my dreamel bearing needs to replace but I don't have puller to remove it🤔

Set about mine this morning and had it fixed within half hour, seems to be a common problem, thanks again for your very detailed video.🏴
Too commom, i will never buy original dremel again
Super...Thanks from Turkey. My problem is fixed.
Thank you very much ! Had the same fault, not even used that much though, shame dremel...

Thanks so much! You saved my Dremel!
