    Nice comprehensive look, thanks!
    I'm impressed with how much better the build quality of these scale foam aircraft is than just a few years ago, and even though there are still some minor issues, they're almost all simple to deal with for anyone with some hobby experience. You know as well as I that understanding the characteristics of materials, fasteners and adhesives is crucial to ensure everything works precisely as it should.
    Even so, the amount of effort required is nothing compared to the days when I got into the sport in the late 1970s. Apart from the fact that powerplants were generally the messy, noisy IC variety and miniaturization of electronics was still a pipe dream, having to make every single part was tedious...though rewarding.
    I'm in hog heaven, myself, after years of being limited to micros in a large parking lot nearby (disabled, power wheelchair, the whole schtick) I'm getting out to larger parks and sanctioned fields now, so to be properly equipped I just got a Rochobby WACO and am very pleased with its overall fit and finish. The Chinese manufacturers still have some catching up to do in the small details, but the airframe is definitely sound to my finicky eye.
    There may be a few loose ends as I commence the build, but I have most issues covered, I think. The awful hard plastic wheels were obviously unacceptable, but a pair of Dubro Lite treaded wheels with nice foam compound tires are a drop in replacement (and fit the steel axles much better than the stock wheels as a bonus!) and some Dubro yellow micro clevises will replace the brittle stock ones for better confidence in the linkages. I'm sure the vendors will figure these out as they have with the other prefabricated components.
    Looking forward to seeing how the Goshawk performs in the air for you!

      She’s a beauty! I haven’t flown the version 2, which doesn’t have the leading edge slats. As I understand it, it’s now lighter because of that. But, she’s still a T-45…keep speed in your turns with balanced elevator and aileron control. Keep that nose just slightly up. I’m sure you know this already, but it’s a tip staller if you’re not careful.
      Would love to hear your impressions of the v2.

    Very nicely presented. Good to see some objectivity, offsetting local sales distributor's 'glossy drooling' over absolutely everything in their videos... Thank you.

    I really enjoyed your video! You've got a lot of great info here and this looks like a fantastic airplane. The price point on these 90mm Freewing models is astounding for what one gets. Enjoy!

      Thanks so much! I'm glad you enjoyed it. I hope it helps. I'll soon post a follow-up/post maiden flight video to show some other things about the jet that are unique, as well as some fixes that I've learned from others and from new discoveries.

    Excellent video Flying Ant;as soon as the red and silver version of the HSD 90mm viper comes out i will check it over for issues that you found on your T45! Thanks for the info.

      I hear that the HSD Viper is pretty awesome. I got the chance to see it at the AMA Expo back in January, and also got to meet Huang Sai, owner/designer of HSD. Let us know how it goes when you get it.

    There are a few planes that have that “presence” when you see them in the air- Freewing 80mm a-10, 90mm Freewing F-22, the 1600mm WWII fighters from Flightline and the T-45 is on that list as well. The T-45 is just a pretty jet. Great lines.

    Hey Ant !! Thanks for this video dude.. I just received mine and I bought the KIT version taking my power system out of my Freewing F-16 90mm -- WHAT A BIG NO NO !! For some reason (even though they have the same specs in power system) My plane could barely get off of the ground and I had to bail-out on the grass :( !! So needless to say I upgraded to the 8S power system and was very concerned about the CG based on how the manual illustrated.. I thought it were rather strange that they made the starting measuring point at the beginning of the ducts (inlets) on the top...
    But u basically confirmed it for me.. So thanks dude.. Just for that I'm subscribing to your channel lololol.. Thanks again dude

    Still a Beautiful Jet. Can you make a video or explain on how to mix the landing flaps with the slats. I believe some people mix on the 3rd setting of the landing flaps.

    • @flyingant2557
      @flyingant2557  8 лет назад

      Hey there BBA Brother! Hope all is well. Unfortunately, there isn't a complete way to explain exactly how to do it because all radios are slightly different. However, they are generally the same process. It is indeed a mix between the channels, and as you mentioned, mine is set to deploy together on the 3rd switch position..
      I'm not very good at all the mixing stuff yet, so I had an "expert" at our field mix mine in for me.
      It seems that I remember seeing a RUclips explanation on mixing for the DX9, which is what I use. But by then I had already had mine done.
      Good luck getting her mixed in...it makes it so much easier to be on 1 switch.

    Hi, I just want to tell you that the rudder issue menthioned in your video is actually not an issue. You have indeed made a mistake when installing the rudder --you need to insert the rear bottom side of the rudder into the plastic parts. Once you did it, you do not need to modify as what you did.

    • @flyingant2557
      @flyingant2557  9 лет назад

      Yes, thanks. That was an old issue and since fixed. As a fresh off the manufacturers warehouse, many were still trying to figure out the details of this jet.
      Hopefully too there was something positive you may have gained from the video.

    have mine all put together, awaiting maiden flight next week! did you fly yours with the battery all the way back like that? I put mine back like yours, feels really nose heavy still, but hard to balance for cg due to the size. thanks

    • @flyingant2557
      @flyingant2557  9 лет назад

      Congrats! Can't wait to hear how awesome of a time you have.
      Mine bench balanced with the battery all the way back, with a Genesis 5000mah, 65c, 6s batt. It ended up being tail heavy in the maiden, so I had to move the batt forward a couple of inches, and it became perfect.
      If you can, do a maiden video. We'd all love to see it!😃✈️

    • @AcesHighMedia
      @AcesHighMedia 9 лет назад

      +Flying Ant thanks bud. i hate the guessing game with cg. have lost a few planes due to bad cg recommendations from the manual. either that or I just plain suck at cg lol. I Maidened my yak 130 last thursday,but didn't have a camera man. I will have one for this bird and my F14 for sure!! when you do the balance test on your t 45, does it flop forward heavily? my yak did that but flew like a dream, just curious if it was the same with this one.

    • @flyingant2557
      @flyingant2557  9 лет назад

      +Mephalis2009 yes, it did just a bit but it was tail heavy in flight. If you fly that Yak 130 then the T-45 will be a cinch for you.

    • @AcesHighMedia
      @AcesHighMedia 9 лет назад

      +Flying Ant I think the cg point is off then in the manual. not good. luckily that was as far back as the battery tray would let you put the battery, or else it could have been disastrous!! the yak 130 70mm, not the monster 90mm one. I think the t 45 will be more of a handful :P

    • @flyingant2557
      @flyingant2557  9 лет назад

      +Mephalis2009 the CG point is 63mm behind the top intakes. That puts it in the middle of the first top light.

      Thanks for watching! This jet is an outstandingly fun and exhilarating flier. There are so many intricate parts and features on this plane that it begs for attention before putting her up. It's not that the quality is poor, it's actually exceptional quality. There are just things to be aware of that should be checked, or it could prove to be disappointing and disheartening if she goes down because the due diligence of checking these areas isn't performed.
      Not sure if you own this jet, but you wouldn't be disappointed after getting her dialed in and performing at her best!

    • @flyingant2557
      @flyingant2557  3 месяца назад

      We waited so long for that one to finally ship out that there was no way I ❤as sending it back. The next order was until much later in the year. It was easier to clean it and tighten it all up so we could get in the air. But, I totally agree with you. Paying that kind of money, even back then at only $499, was a lot to pay for a plane in that shape.
      It flew extremely well though, so I was happy!!
