Definitely one of my favorite metra RUclipsrs on the platform! One of the very few best metra ride videos that I actually enjoy! Your channel is my #1 favorite for train ride videos I do have to say. You just got a new subscriber my friend!
I think another reason why Elburn is a "Quiet Zone" is because of the Mata Amritanandamayi Center Chicago Ashram Complex located a few miles from there - on Keslinger Road.
They run Intermodal Trains on this line like they were commuter trains! BTW, the bridge over the tracks at 30:33 is the last remains of the Chicago, Aurora and Elgin Elgin Branch (Now a bike /walking trial)
actually i think thats the great western trail aurora elgin is the prarie path they tore down the bridge that crossed route 83 made the great western trail around it great western trail that goes by what was ovaltine and the old lumber yard when the CNW used it
There's actually lots of remains on the branch, with 2 or 4 substations left, several smaller bridges, and one buried bridge plus another C&NW bridge over it still standing.
@@metrabnsfrails3641 Quiet zones should be abolished. The people who advocated for them should also get a talking to about how train horns are something they agreed to with implied consent when they bought houses near the tracks.

You forgot to add College Ave that comes after wheaton & before glen ellyn
This was the train line I used mostly when I lived near Chicago
Is anyone watching this because they strangely miss riding the Metra to work?
3 short blasts should be enough. No train horn zones will eventually get someone hurt badly or killed.
Jon Adkins People get clapped by trains in the shitcagoland area all the time. The horns would definitely help reduce that.
Very true I am sure they will make a law at some point
I live in Wheaton :D
Me too
You can usually tell the old CN&W lines by the freights which run on the opposite side of traditional freights in the US.

At 30:30 is a little closer. And they run the stack trains with scant regard to public safety.

I thought after that lady got hit at the Villa Park station several eons ago, they had a mandate to blow the horn there several times.
A good video only spoilt by the constant fiddling to set the camera up, maybe use a tripod or just set it to self stabilise.
I remember riding this line to go to NIU
Stupid bell sounds like a grease pump. Car has a flat spot also. That should make for a nice ride.
Ah, I feel Nostalgic watching the Geneva Station.
Me too, buddy.
Same. I was just on this a few weeks ago
My only complaint is quit playing with the camera, it's distracting.
I’ve been thinking of doing one o these, should I?
Wow that area out by Elburn and LaFox has not changed much EXCEPT IT IS A STUPID QUIET ZONE!!!!!!!
mt90945557 it wasn’t the only thing that it turned into a quiet zone since 2018 Rochelle Has turned into a quiet zone.

@@metrabnsfrails3641 Yep just like Galesburg.
Some quiet zones have been there since the 1950's, such as the Metra UP North Line
@@Robbi496 same with the BNSF Railway line. The quiet zones were negotiated by the CB&Q
Does anyone know what the clanking is in these Metra Ride Alongs? I know it's the control car making that noise, but I can't figure out why?
A bell.....
It’s a bell warning nearby people that the engine is coming. It serves a similar function to the horn on most trains.
