Learn how to make some real working retractable Black Panther claws from the Marvel movie Black Panther. These claws are made from some ordinary pens, x-acto blades, and a black glove. This project is super cheap to make and fully functional. With the flick of a finger the user can deploy each claw individual or all together! Enjoy!!

Just thought of something JLaser; so in a pen, you have the clicking mechanism that allows for the ink cartridge to retract into the pen. If you were to use that mechanism and adjust it in some way, I think that you'd be able to create claws that retract and expand at the clench of a fist, therefore removing the need to manually retract/load the claws each time you wanted to use them.

You should make a version 2 of this with tensionable claws using the clicker end of one of the pens with an extra spring close to it. Say have two states, state 1 unclicked(deactivated) clicker end pulls on all 5 strings to keep claws retracted no matter finger positioning, and state 2 clicked(activated) clicker end allows slack in the lines to allow the blades to fully extend when fingers outstretched but retracting when making a fist due to finger bending causing tension to pull back the blades. The claws would act more organic that way, working with your finger movements.
And yes this would mean measuring individual lengths from the clicker point to the ends of your fingers outstretched.
Or better yet instead of using a clicker, use one of those multi color ink pend that use the sliding lock mechanism to create tension. Or have each finger on its own sliding lock mechanism to selectively enable/dissable each finger.
So if the world is ever attacked by 1 banana, 1 orange and 1 piece of scrap paper, we now know who will slowly and clumsily defend us. Thank god we're saved!

This is amazing but i got two things
1.the method of curling in your fingers to retract the blades is incredibly dangerous for how long the blades are
2. To compliment the first point, is there a equally easy way to make it to where the blades come out when the fingers are straightened rather than curled? Like a hidden blade would work

Started yelling “I NEVA FREEEEZE” and “WAKANDA FOEVA”
There has to be a way where you can apply the same mechanism of a click ballpoint pen, make it flexible to be attached on the glove where the knuckles bend, and replace the ballpoint pen with a blade. When you straight your fingers it will trigger the click and you can have the claws both come out and retract at will. I can’t stop thinking about it but I know it’s possible. @jlaservideo
