Jason, I was glad to see this video. This insect looks imposing enough to warn off anyone hoping to add it to their store of knowledge. Was glad to see it sitting quietly on your hand. Too, the diagram of their habitat was most helpful and easy to remember. Thank you for sharing it all.
Nice one Insect Hunter!
Thanks for watching! Glad you enjoyed it!
Hey dude, I just came across your channel and its super interesting!!
I'm sure you probably get this question a lot, but what is your personal process for killing/pinning a insect? - do you soak them in any sort of alcohol to preserve them before pinning?
Cheers!
Merry Christmas from Australia :)
Thanks for watching and thanks for the great question! I would recommend you take a look at this video I made to see all the major preservation techniques though it is a bit dramatic and was originally designed for kids so take it with a grain of salt. ruclips.net/video/Z94rhqPU-oo/видео.html As to the answer to your question, my favorite technique is freezing because it is just so much easier. I don't like having to hand all the chemicals that much because I have a newborn around and my wife doesn't like the smell of the chemicals much either. Sometimes I will use them, but not a lot. Enjoy!
Awesome catch. I snagged a cool Herc Bettle not long ago. Set it free. But I have a vid of a Mantis and wasp (looking insect) not sure. Eating the same bug. I'm a sub now keep em coming.
The first videos I watched on your channel had you doing all kinds of different characters; not good.
This video is excellent! Keep it up 😊
Murray de Jager Thanks glad to know you liked this one!!
What do you mean “different characters” ?
Great channel.
Thx for this Video😊👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Thanks for the tips, hope singapore have this kind of insect
I am not sure. I would talk to a professor at a local University who studies insects and ask him for an idea about where you might start looking.
I love Mecoptera!
that's one freaky find
Yeah they are pretty surprising to find and super exciting! :)
Devs need to buff this insect it’s kind of op
Very good video!
Thanks! What type of insect do you want us to hunt down next?
It would be very cool to show an Phengodidae.
I will see what I can do! :) They can be found in Texas. I'll do some research and see if we can find one.
I have never found a scorpion fly where i live in México, cool video.
Yes they are pretty awesome!
I wonder if they're hard to find because they're easy to catch.
You should do Mantisfly next
I have yet to see one in the wild, but if I ever do I will try to have my camera ready haha :)
It would be not easy to catch as it is quite smaller than this one!
Is that a stingwing from fallout 4
hm... looks similar. It could have been an inspiration.
found a male in the UK today, led me to this video
