This blanket is so beautiful. I bought some yarn to make a blanket for one of my grandsons awhile back. I could never find a pattern that suited him. This will be perfect for him and work with the yarn I had chosen. Thank you for a wonderful pattern.
I bought some of this yarn at a sale and I followed your tutorial to make my first ever crochet project! thank you for your easy to follow tutorial! I now have a blanket to keep me warm during these cold Canadian winters
I’m rather new to crochet. I have been doing little projects here and there . I find myself looking at your page a lot when I want to find something that will hold my interest. I happy to say I found one such project in this pattern. Thank you so much😊
I don’t crochet a lot. And was shopping at Walmart and found this O’Go. I love the idea for no tangles! Found your tutorial and loved it. You’ve explained it so nicely. Now I can do more than just a granny square! Lol
I just completed all the squares. It's amazing how much yummy those fpdtr add! Just enough to keep the crochet interesting, yet still hv my brain thinking on other things! I LOVE the colors you chose. I'm doing diff color with white as row 9 & borders. Too bad we all can't share our pieces! TY for your Tutorials Mikey
We have the community on Facebook called The Crochet Crowd Stitch Social, it's sharing all day long with creations that are here. facebook.com/groups/TheCrochetCrowdStitchSocial
I am in the midst of making this right now using super saver in parrot stripe. Love the way it’s turning out. Thanks for the excellent tutorial! Thanks to you, I’m beginning to understand how to read a pattern and a diagram.
OMG! I just finished my first square with your tutorial. I did it and I love it. It is just a test square as I ordered the same colors you are using but borders will be the cherry color. Thank you for the great tutorials❤️🇨🇦
Hey Mikey, showed my crochet blanket to Gylann Beams, in conversation, she mentioned you and a Crochet Cruise she went on. I mentioned the O’Go tangle free yarn. She asked me if it was you on the tutorial. Small world!
I LOVE this afghan! I tested a smaller version of a similar granny square a while ago and liked the pattern, but the vivid colors of this one REALLY caught my eye. I recently got some beautiful yarn for free that was unpackaged.... after some research I discovered that it was Red Heart Super Saver Stripes.... the colors are amazing and gorgeous. It is perfect for this pattern. So, after a little more shopping I have already started with colors Polo Stripes and Parrot Stripes. The bright changing colors are just wonderful and I will be using black as the joining and border color. After a rough month of several personal family tragedies (on top of the pandemic) the distraction and beauty of working on this afghan has already been a comfort and great therapy... I tend to get obsessive with a new project! Mikey, bless you for this gorgeous and timely pattern and video! I plan on using your other videos for backing an afghan with polar fleece to make this an even better project! Thank you!! Stella
@@TheCrochetCrowd I don't have the background yarn yet ( black), but I have twelve squares so far and I added in some squares with the Cool Stripes color as well. The colors are just delicious! :) I hope they never stop making the Super Saver Stripes bright colors...Since I've now already also discovered the Floral Beauty Throw pattern and want to make that one as well! And just pre-ordered your book! Keep on inspiring!!
I am doing something very similar to this pattern! I’m loving it and the only difference I’m doing is just doing one solid square around and around I go! I love it and yes it’s getting challenging as my blanket gets bigger... but I’m loving how it’s coming together. Definitely something I’m very proud to be crocheting up! 😘
This will be on my list of "to do"projects. I sew in all my ends as I find that if I crochet over the ends, the ends will eventually come out after a few washes--even on the gentle cycle.
@@TheCrochetCrowd the only thing I can think of to keep the crocheted over ends from coming out in the wash would be to use some kind of fabric glue to glue the end of the yarn after you're done weaving in your ends.
I will probably just put my yarn in the bag that my newspaper comes in because it is such a good way to keep skeins tidy. Weekday newspapers are awfully skinny and it's the perfect size for O'go
I haven't found O-go yet but do like this look like a quick granny.. But got some colors in other yarn that would do this up..Have great Day Stay Safe and Yarn Happy..
Ohh so fabulous, haven’t tried the O’Go yet, because I haven’t seen them in Johnson City Tennessee yet lol. But I have a giant basket of leftover stash yarn and this would be a perfect stash buster project ❤️
I love this. Thanks so much for posting. Question? On the border instead could you double crochet on the tops of the three crochets and then put your three crochets in the space. Would that cause to many stitches going across. I am not a big fan of the granny square but thought if the edging had more stitches it might look more filled in. Not sure though.
I loved this blanket when I saw it!😍 But the colors are already sold out 😒 I guess i will have to wait for now but thank you for the tutorial, I will watch now and make later!😄 Have a great day!
Love this pattern so colorful! One question, did you notice that in the written pattern for round 2 it doesn't say to chain one? I had to go back to watch your video. Otherwise wonderful tutorial like always. I have learned so much from you 😀
I have submitted a revision already to Yarnspirations for a revision change. It's in the diagram and not in the written words. It's a typo. It has been fixed but the PDF has to go through 3 departments at Yarnspirations before it ends up live on Yarnspirations.
Heya... With our videos. The video description has the link to our free patterns. All of those specifics can be found there. It will be easier for you to look, especially if doing a yarn substitution. :D Remember, these ogo's are the same size as Red Heart Super Saver Balls.
Hi Mikey, question about round #3, you say to do a double treble around the post of double in round below, however I'm seeing just a regular treble that is demonstrated. Which one does the pattern call for? Thanks! 😊
I think I have my answer... the rest of the video you say (regular) treble. I hadn't watched the entire thing before I had asked my question. Thanks for another beautiful tutorial!
Whoa that yarn is very interesting and the blanket is really beautiful! I've been wanting to make a granny square type of throw but didn't want a plain granny square... this one has texture which makes it more fun to work. Thank you for sharing this blanket pattern! I don't have any of this yarn, but I have a lot of different colors of Red Heart and other brands of yarn in my "stash" which I will use. Do you have any idea how many yards each color has? Maybe take the total number of colors and divide it by the total amount of yardage? It doesn't really matter that much, I'm just curious. Anyway, have a great day Mikey!
I believe you can take the yardage and divide by 15. (5 colours with 3 repeats) and that's the rough yardage of each section. Times that number by 3 and that's the yardage for each of the 5 colours.
I spoke to Yarnspirations today for my weekly review. More stock is on the way. Be sure to check daily as the stock is replenished overnights. This yarn will be at Walmart Canada and USA once it rolls out fully.
Question: Is there a stitch I can use every now and then to lock in my row of stitches just in case a stitch gets severed by accident while the blanket is being used?
I wonder when you cover the initial tail when you start out that’s only one time that you’re covering it, yet when you finish off tails you go back-and-forth three times -so won’t the initial tail that’s only covered once come undone since it’s not covered three times?
Sinto muito, este comentário não está traduzindo para eu entender o que você está perguntando. Você pode tentar de novo? - I'm sorry, this comment isn't translating for me to understand what you are asking. Can you try again?
THanks for calling attention to that. It should be double treble. My mouth and hands aren't on the same page. It should be double treble. I double checked the pattern.
I didn’t design this. If you follow the link, you would have known that. Also, this is a historical pattern where the original designer is unknown as it spans generations.
If you have issues with this design, you can reach out to Yarnspirations directly to file your complaint. I teach on their behalf and I also design. If you would have followed the link provided in the video, you can follow it back to them. Take care.

Correct. Same yardage, same weight. So you can sub for Super Saver Balls or O'Go. You decide.

I don' t understand this question. I don't know what you mean.

Thanks so much.
Do you think doing a join as you go would work with this pattern?
Yes, just fandangle it and make it work.

The starting know is a slip knot and you cover it. If you prefer to weave in end you can.
So different
Nice to have change.
Mickey, where did you purchase your bend tapestry needle? Thanks
It's a Clover Needle. You can find bent ones in the Leather Section of a craft store as well.

Does anyone know the actual Red Heart color names, so I could purchase the skeins instead of the OGO

The color of the material is to dark so the stitch is not visible
The stitching diagram is available with the free pattern if that helps you.
I’ve been making this since last year it’s a yarn eater tho so be careful
Anything in Front Post always sucks the yarn up. Crocodile Stitch is definitely a yarn pig.
