I love this man. He is a national treasure and the world is full of fools not to have him on their bloody highest honours lists. He is mind blowingly good.😍
Fantastic; been listening to Russell Morris since I was 13 in 1969 and still enjoy his music. I heard the song "The Real Thing" which was playing on a transistor radio while travelling home from Perth Western Australia, on a bus after selling newspapers on a street corner after school. Russell Morris recently sang this song for a Perth fundraising event (Telethon) and the performance was faultless and priceless. What a wonderful talent, performer and generous man. He is gold as his music brings so much joy and pleasure. West Australians dug deep for telethon raising a lot of $$$$ for children's hospital, medical research and donated while watching quality performances performed by quality talent such a Russell Morris so we thank him very much. Chris Mac Perth WA
Saw him for the first time at Big Red Bash Birdsville 2018,when he finished his set I stood up, turned to the misses and said, we can go home now, nothing's better than this.
I went to see Russell perform just a few years ago. He's better than he ever was, The Real Thing notwithstanding. His voice is richer now. I know what you mean Deanna, about his superstar status - he's a performer who is SO underrated.
Wow this is amazing how can this man not be a superstar overseas? I have only seen this man about 30 times but blows my mind all the time I see him and his voice has not changed since 69 how is this possible????
Deanne: I loved his early stuff (I'm nearly his age) but he's better now than then. He's had years to perfect his craft. A more lived in voice now when many others have lost theirs (Brian Cadd)
@@alisoncrocker2898 I played a clip of him singing The Real Thing at a mates bar in Shenzhen China and it stopped the whole place. They all just stood and listened - it was kinda freaky. most of the crowd were Americans or Canadians and of course my Aussie mates who knew the song. He is getting better with age! No one was at worried about the scene of the tank man in Tian'anmen Square either - the Chinese knew all about it.
Deanne Doyle got to agree Deane. I saw him perform at a community Christmas party of all places and walked away thinking Wow. I'd known of Russell Morris but hadn't realised what a sensational voice he has. He should be an International Superstar
So much more strength in Russell’s voice, so gutsy. So delighted to know music is still his life. And there are moments - still the old Russell. This was nice guys. Good pace to it.
Agreed. After belting out tunes for so long how can this man's voice be better than it was in the 60's ..and it was the best voice in the industry then, in my opinion.. It's mind boggling. His voice is so rich & colourful now. Usually those top notes disappear with age & wear, but not with this man.. Amazing!
I hope after this lockdown fkn bullshit in NSW he performs again somewhere. I saw him in the Opera House shows just before lockdown, magic he was as were the rest of the cast.
The guy has never lost the passion or quality in his voice. He sings better now than he did in the early days. truly amazing. this stripped back acoustic version showcases his quality. Well done Russ, you da man.
I'm blown away by the quality of the younger musicians Russell draws to him for his acoustic shows. It says a lot for the respect he must have from within the industry, I was surprised when he didn't get a mention in the recent Voice of Australia award which went to Johnny Farnham.
First saw Russell at TC's Brisbane Billy Thorpe, Max Merritt, Wendy Sandington, I was 12or 13 what a lucky kid I was, Saturday mornings were never as good!
Wow.. Helen, that was back when Carol Lloyd was with Railroad Gin. They played many gigs around Brissie back then. She was brilliant too. Peter Moscos, of Moscos and Stone. Ahhh Those were the days..
Wow Wow two guitars, drums and an awesome voice of Russell. Now thats real talent right there. I saw him when he appeared with the BeeGees in 69 in Wellington. What a voice then and still is.
God I love this mans vocals....he is quickly turning into a fave of mine! Thank goodness for my Australian friends or I would never have found this man! (*_*)
I have always loved Russell Morris, I have always loved this Bob Dylan song & I loved the Graham Bonnet hit version of it but the vocal performance on this rendition knocked me out & this is now my definitive Baby Blue. Russell you do keep getting better , you are a superstar
I had the pleasure of meeting Russell in the mid 60s when he fronted for the BeeGees in New Zealand. He was fantastic then and his voice has only got better over time. Hes is one of the true great singers to come out of Aussie.
I love what this man has become and also what he was, way back. I first saw him on an old TV show Happening 70 and'71, I was about 11. Precursors to Countdown. Now has an amazing vocal register and power. Also a mean guitarist. Collaborates with many people. Aria Hall of Fame awardee. Legend.
what a great version one of my most favorite songs love to hear the many covers and this version goes up the top of my best version along with marianne faithful and eric burden
Just left the "Day on the Green"in Adelaide Russell Morris stole the show and he still sounds absolutely awesome with a great backing band they brought back so many memories and a couple of tears to this old rocker. Thanks Russell and the boys will see you again soon.
Can't wait till May 20, Seeing him at the Nundah pub, last time I saw him, was 31 years ago in Vic, I was heavily pregnant with my Daughter Samantha "RIP" Beautiful girl 🙏 ⚘️1990-2001⚘️

Russell I don't remember you as being this good? You are seriously good my friend - as per the other comments you have got so much better with age. Right up with the best Australia has produced!
Kevin Murphy on drums, and I imagine it is Peter Robinson on guitar who has been with Russell Morris many years no. This as back in the Capers Restaurant days when Peter Laffy was one of the three amigos that produced these videos. Poor old Peter Laffy ended up passing away after going to live in Hawaii to get treatment for his illness that killed him. I'm not sure who Tecoma Coboy was, but he was supposed to be one of those three amigos I guess. He used to post these videos on youtube many years ago.

Fabulous voice, especially considering his age. What a shame he fell off the radar for so long. An incredibly talented Australian.

in response to your first sentence - because he doesn't know how to `twerk'......
What a voice & he’s all ours ! 🇦🇺👌
Man. SUCH a voice. We've had some good'uns, in Aussie rock vocalists. But Russell is right up there with our immortals.
One of the best…
Listened to many versions of this Dylan song, Russell nails it...
One of our very, very best!
His voice is as good as ever. As a performer, even better.
What a voice...50+ but eternally young tunes
