He went through a phase where I felt he was wrecking them but in this era his inventive genius shone. His lead guitar parts alone warrant another Nobel prize.
I agree with Bob, that he changed music for all of us, forever. I have been to two of his concerts and his musical ability is amazing. I just sit and let it go through me. Thank you, Bob.
The beauty of going to his concerts is that he is not afraid to change his great songs and after 24 shows myself I can't wait until the next one. Here he is smiling and doing his little shuffle and phrasing like nobody else in show business. God bless bob Dylan. 😊
I’ve never been a big fan of Bob Dylan, but you damn sure have to give it to him on this performance. Being acquainted with this song through Bluegrass, I really enjoyed seeing him, perform his song with his heart and soul in it.
Bob knows how great this song is...its written all over his happy face! ❤ Never ceases to amaze me how GREAT these musicians blend together with BD to make this BRILLIANT!!
OMG...I've listenened to and watched this more than any other video! Only complaint is it's not long enough. Bob looks so happy to be singing this amazing song...BEAUTIFUL
I agree. There’s a beauty about Dylan’s often criticised voice. There’s far more emotion conveyed in Dylan’s voice than any of the pitch perfect unshaken, trained voices of so many pop stars of today. I’d take this over a perfectly clean voice any day.
I’ve gotten to see him 51 times. First show I was 17. I’m 41 now and can’t wait for #52. Also, I live in the same building as Charlie Sexton. He dresses like a vampire hiding from the sun. The 1 thing about BD that he’s told me is that he rearranges these songs at will. Usually they don’t get the new arrangements until the day of the show at soundcheck.
@@MrPernell27 I've spoken with Charlie about this very thing !! I still say Dylans band is the hardest to play in. I've seen him many, many times, and his band is constantly glued to him because they never know what he's going to do and they have to be ON every second of the show. I do miss Charlie though.... the 2 together are special !!!
PERFECTION - nobody could improve on this - the Band is incredible and Bob is enjoying the night as much as the audience! Possibly my all time favourite video on RUclips.
If I could only watch ONE video on RUclips, it would have to be THIS. Love the musicians, the slower tempo, Bob's amusing mannerisms and he's actually smiling!...this is so great!
Incredible BABY BLUE. One of the best of the NET. It's a powerful song. The quieter semi acoustic sound gives room for nuance and introspectiveness. The silent space dividing many lines gives a mystical staccato effect.
Thanks for the request! Perhaps you're not aware that there are currently 3 other videos from this Rochester 1998 show here on this channel: It's All Over Now, Baby Blue ruclips.net/video/z6yyo9kxaZY/видео.html Forever Young ruclips.net/video/5VlA10hcCL0/видео.html & Stone Walls and Steel Bars ruclips.net/video/1zBWtB73VQM/видео.html I'll add more eventually but I have 100+ hours of footage that I shot at more than 75 Dylan concerts since 1989, which I only started circulating a few years ago, and I'm trying to provide clips from a wide variety of different tours I captured. Right now I'm working on a big collection of videos from 5 shows in September 1993 that have never been seen before. I expect to start uploading them the second week of September.
for those who can hear it this is one of the holy grail performances! the subtle waves between lines going back and forth from him to the audience like ebb and flow and the build up of energie as he solos is tremendous! he rides above the stage and his soldiers support him like king arturs knights must have and bucky baxter looks like karl valentin or a bavarian black rider character! this all is pure divinity „king arthur artist“ thank youuuuuuuu!
Know what? If Bob Dylan came here to this little town of Marcialla Italy to give a free concert in July during the month-long town festival, I would go see it.
La migliore versione in assoluto della sua canzone. Un capolavoro esecutivo, con arrangiamento straordinario, grazie ad una band di accompagnamento eccellenter. Grandissimo Bob. The great! 🙂

@jonathongems. Seems you don’t appreciate Dylan. This is an incredible performance of the skills of his guitar playing and his extraordinary vocals. Beautiful piece.
I agree those were some great years. Dylan was in fine form and his band featured his best touring line-up ever in my opinion, in large part due to the contributions of the amazingly musically proficient Larry Campbell, especially when eventually combined with Charlie Sexton as well. In case you haven’t already come across them, there are 2 other videos up on the channel from this Rochester show as well: Stone Walls and Steel Bars, and Forever Young. And many more videos from other venues during the years you mentioned. Eventually when I finish some others projects like the Japan ‘94 series, I’ll add a few more performances from this Rochester ‘98 show. If there are any particular songs from the setlist that you’d like to see, let me know. I can’t guarantee I have whatever you request, but I did capture most of the concert. 😊
He must have 50 variations for every song he's written. The man's an endless fountain of creativity.
I've heard he does this at concerts so instead of singing along, folks will listen. 😊
This is a Great Poet singing! Do you get all these sounds and the melody? It's the daily food for the soul!
It’s called transposing the song to fit his deteriorating voice
@@DeanH92 exactly... I paid for that?

Bob knows he's written a winner here. He's enjoying every moment of this outstanding performance...so is the crowd!
I think Bob and his band in late 90' to early 00's is especially magical. His guitar playing is addictive.
Larry Campbell is the answer
Can we all just take a moment to acknowledge the utter amazingness of late-90s touring Bob?
Bob playing a Gibson J45 ... just perfect!

His Guitar playing is masterful here. It doesn’t need to be fancy, the rhythmical stabs and strums are just exquisite and so tasteful.
