The LSA & FFE must be check normally weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual according to SOLAS Regulation. In checking of lifeboat you must check 1. Exterior; all the the labels & marking are visible, fore & aft FPD. 2. Interior: Expiration of Food ratio, Drinking water, First aid kit, & Pyrotechnics, check also engines tools, Battery, lights, and according to your monthly inventories..

Now i know what my prof teach to use getting fix position using radar , use the ebl and vrm to get position. In first i was struggling to understand radar but by his help i learned it. I hope i will find international company as soon as possible deck cadet rank

The applicant being interviewed needs to review and study more seriously about the duties and responsibilities of a third officer,he needs to review about COLREGS, FSS Code, LSA Code, Bridge Procedures Guide, and other major Publications used onboard. He also need to improve his Communication skills. That's my feedback.

You are not wrong, but I do believe that this is companies and Officers mistake! Most of cadets are treated with disrespect in most fleets, they put them to delivery coffee, paint and do small jobs and not to be a Third mate shadow or the most important be part of bridge watches with third mate and second mate or even try to handle with supervision by themselves what makes also this future officers less prepare and with no confidence! Probably this guy was pushed to work as a OS onboard and in his free time he was going to bridge making questions and seeing how was the job! I can say it ... because this is what happened with me! I do sutdy but just practice can make you remember your responsabilities!!!!!!!!

In the Philippines even if you applied for deck cadet position, you'd definitely fail if you answer like this. WTF even COLREGS rule number 5 he didn't know or has forgotten, add to that he isn't even sure what the Hotel flag color is. This guy is not ready for a third mate position. Maybe a rating first, could be an ordinary seaman or able bodied seaman.

Rule no.5 you should tell after waking up from the deep sleep that too not even delayed. Rules are our Bible. Pls study and understand. Good luck

It is lights of Pilot boat on they duty.
