- So what is the big difference between the new 2nd generation Amazon Echo and the 1st generation Echo. I have had the New Amazon Echo 2nd gen for almost 2weeks now so figured it was time to make a review. Here are 6 new features on the new 2nd gen Amazon Echo that the 1st generation Echo didn't have. A quick comparison of the new and old Echo's and some other tips I have learned about the new Amazon Echo.

like the features, setup was difficult for some of my devices (August Door lock, ruclips.net/user/postUgkxhB5YOMNj04GuoAosExygP4cH-dKeb4aB Bose speaker)... but all switches and outlets (5), thermostat, tankless water heater. Unfortunately all I can do is turn on/off Bose. It doesn't support volume or changing channels, but I believe that is due to the particular speaker I have.... Worth getting if you already have other devices to use it with... I don't sit around and ask Alexa questions much so that doesn't really matter to me....
LOL When you asked her the question in the beginning, my echo went off and said the exact same thing in sync with yours
lol, When I was editing this vid I had to mute mine. It went off every time! 😂
Mine too !! It was really wierd. I'm sitting here listening to Sweet Home Alabama and their ain't NOTHIN' wrong with the sound and BB KIng sounds like he's in the room - AWESOME !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
First off love the tats and beard! Really like how you explained the whisper and how Alexa still hears it. I am getting one for my mom who is going in a nursing home, and talks very low. Still need to find out how to use a phone, lights, TV, and what you need to do this. Thank you! 😊
waiting on mine to arrive. glad the reviews on this thing is decent cause i always buy first then look at reviews as my bad habit
I just got mine for Christmas and I love it. Sounds great in a small room or large home. The mic works from a very long distance.
Awesome! Yup, totally agree, great device!
Empire Creed same here! It's changed my life, already getting some dots to expand my new addiction
Aquaman is making videos!!! YESSSSSSS!
+Von 😂 man I wish!! That dude it jacked!! I haven’t seen the new justice league yet, but I hear it’s pretty good.
Ha love it
I think Alexa sounds GREAT! She is so much fun to have around!
Bro that PC Setup though
+DjRreddyy Thanks brother!!! Glad you dig it! 😃
bro where can i get those wallpapers
I've watched loads of reviews of the new Echo, NONE actually gave a nice blend of technical and approachable. Lovely gentle video style too. Subscribed!
+Mat Smith Awesome! Thanks brother! Appreciate the feedback and glad you liked it! 😄👍🏻
I got mine after watching you video and I am in LOVE it makes my life sooooo much easier and the fact that's it cheaper with upgrades is SUPER rare to find and I like the fact that you can change the covers
Glad you are enjoying it! Totally agree, Amazon did a rare thing by making it better and cheaper at the same time. Im glad they did though!!
I just got the 2nd generation and it’s awesome and sounds very good! I really appreciate your review on this, thank you!
Love it! Short, condensed, right on topic... started on Smart House subject just last week and your "Everywhere" group tip is The Solution I was looking for! Thanks!
Thanks!!! Glad it was helpful.
About the BT issue with multiroom, it may be related to the fact that BT adds latency and it will be different depending on the speaker so you'd have echo if you can hear 2 speakers from the place you are.
One awesome option that I don't think you mentioned is that there's a 3 band Equalizer in the software. The third gen Echo Dots come with a little muddy sound but you can bring down the bass and bring the treble up and they sound even more amazing.....have a look!
I've just bought a Dot. To my ear the sound on this is more than expectable. I'm 100%with you. Some people won't Bose sound £60.
+david young agreed! For the form factor and the price i think they are great!!
david young I am with you 100% Echo Dot is better Than expected and only paid £35 in UK. Plus is awesome sounding.
Are you coming home soon as possible echo dot
david young I was expecting a trash speaker and was surprised at the sound. I also have the Echo Plus mainly for the light and alarm control and that sounds amazing.
Awesome video. Learned a lot! Fantastic monitor setup you got there as well :)
Wife got one from work as a Christmas gift just yesterday and it is an interesting thing. Sounds good and so far it's getting to be useful. Used it as a cooking timer and ask it the date and weather. Easier than using the computer and I can see lots of other hands free tasks. Using it for music on Amazon prime now. Good review.
+epiphonium yeah, that’s pretty much what I use mine for, little things. Super helpful little crap that make it super handy to be hands free. Also love the fact that with amazon music you can pretty much ask it to play any song and boom..it
Plays. Don’t think I’ve ever asked it to play anything it didn’t have. 👍🏻
This is really good, professional quality review and camera work. I like your monitor wallpaper. Thanks for the info, again well done performance.
I'm not a Tech gal but I came here to watch a review as I was thinking about getting an Echo for a Christmas present {I've now bought the Echo} This review was so relaxing and informative! 100% subscribed Jeremy
Awesome! Thanks Katy, glad to hear that. Always nice to hear I am doing something right and people are liking the content! Hope you enjoy your new Echo!
Awesome Review! I love that I Can whisper the wake word and Alexa will respond. Sounds Great to me!
+TechFit360 Thanks!!! Yeah, I️ am loving mine. Great little devices. Especially for the new price! 👍🏻
He only whispered because he didn't want it to respond on the review.
Never loved a review so much. it was very honest and in a very normal way keep it up man 🤘
One of the best reviews I have ever seen, very impressed!
+krishnan uday Awesome! Kind words my friend! Appreciate the encouragement! 😃👍🏻
I want to thank you for the review, you have helped me to make the decision to purchase the 2nd generation. I appreciate the way you presented your review, it was very clear without a lot of needless information. I am now a subscriber.
+Tracey Bradshaw Thanks and you’re very welcome! Glad it was helpful for you! Hope you enjoy your new Echo! I’m sure you will, I love mine! 😃
Amazon has em on sale for $49.99 TODAY 7/16/2019. Regularly $99 bucks! Sounds like a steal to me.
Kraus, I bought one that day for that price! I love mine.
Was it just me or was I the only one memorized over the monitor setup.... that is sweet bro.
Thanks! Glad you like!
My 2nd Gen is coming in tomorrow...so, we'll see! The main reason for getting this new one is the 3.5mm output jack. My 1st Gen does not have this...which is a major bummer.
Good review. I was hoping you were announcing a new feature. Maybe you said it or I missed it but the Multi Room Music function works no matter which device you have. Can’t wait till Amazon releases a new update to the software. Yeah I like the volume ring at the top too.
+4daluvofnikki Thanks!! Yeah, I love the fact that the multi room feature works on the gen 1 echo’s. I had one so made it nice to be able to use that feature without buying all new equipment. They did a good thing there. Some companies lock you in to buying new stuff by not allowing new features on their older products. Gotta give amazon a 👍🏻 on that one! Glad you like the vid! Thanks for watching! 👍🏻😊
Ahhh! I want your Star Wars wallpapers!!!
Check out my office tour vid. I have links below that vid on where to get them.

Good review. Just bought my first Echo and it is arriving tomorrow. Looking forward to it. Thanks for the review. :)
Very solid review Jeremy. I'm rolling in the same smart home genre as you. I look forward to watching more of your stuff. Subbed!
+Steve DOES Thanks brother!!! 🤜🏻🤛🏻
Nice job. I purchased the Dot over the weekend. Set it up and was so impressed I bought the Echo two days later. I’m amazed at how fast this thing responds to some of my questions that clearly wouldn’t have stock answers. For example, “how’s my commute?” on two consecutive days suggested two different routes to my office in an instant. At last, I can forget about stressing over Christmas present ideas for one year 😉
+Tony Neat Thanks Tony!! Yeah, I find them really useful. I love ours! And with the new price, your right, Great Xmas present! 👍🏻
After this perfect review I went and ordered one. I am in the UK and they had an offer on. Normally £89.99 but prime customers got an extra £20 off till April 30th 2018. Comes tomorrow I cannot wait. I am chuffed I got it for only £69.99 which I believe is 97.51 US Dollar. Sounds expensive there :-)
Even though it wasn’t a fancy schmancy scientific test, I completely trust your opinion on the sound given the overall nice and friendly vibe I got from this video. It seems reviews of tech these days sink into a whole ‘scientific opinion’ mentality. Like to make a solid review you *must* include a bunch of negatives but you only had one little nitpick and honestly that was enough because you perfectly explained why it doesn’t really need any other negatives. So overall, nice solid review. I’m gonna pick one up . 😁
Thanks very much for the review, what a great relaxed conversational style without waffling. I found the review informative and interesting to listen to. Just about to go and buy one!
+TradeArc Services Awesome, love to hear that! Appreciate the feedback!! Good luck with your new Echo. I’m sure you’ll love it. 👍🏻
I broke my first one, but I'm kinda glad. It was time for an upgrade!
Great video man, very informative, and your charisma is amazing!
Thanks!! Glad you dug it!! 👍🏻
Great review! i would like to add that I own both of these. One I purchased for my parents (original)and one (new version) was purchased for me as a christmas present. I see no difference between the sound, however I do think the newer one listens better. Both are wonderful and my parents (after keeping unplugged for over a year) are now really enjoying it (after I set it up on my account) and I think the volume wheel is much better for them. I think I scared them after dropping in the first time, but they were delighted that I could do that and really happy that they could do that with me and my brother. Still Waiting to see if they can remember how to drop in on us.
Great review, covered everything I wanted to know . I like reviewers the talk sense.
Awesome review!! I went out and just grabbed a few for myself and the family for Christmas! Like you said all the other reviews had my on the fence, keep up the great videos!
Also it was on sale for 79$!!!
+KDcars Thanks!!! Glad it was helpful! Enjoy those new Echo’s!! Have a great Christmas 🎄
Good stuff as always brutha... adding this to my Christmas wishlist for sure!
+nobunaga209 Thanks brother! Yeah man, I wouldn’t hesitate. I love mine. And now that they are only $100, it’s hard to beat. 🤜🏻🤛🏻
nobunaga209 me to
Jeremy! The reason why BT multiroom feature is not supported is hardware. Trying to Sync multiple BT without APT-X technology would make sound creepy like music echoing by miliseconds. Sure they could introduce APT-X (or better) making devices more expensive (that is half the fix because in order to make it work you need APT-X on the other end too!) or implement live audio delay fix (software) so everytime all echoes would live-sync listening to each other. Lol. That is easier said than done. Wire is simply a non-delay sound (for regular homes). I was disappointed as well having three dots at home each one connected via BT to sound bars :) but... c'est la vie
Great job all around. Thank you for showing how to make a useful presentation.
Awesome, thanks!! 👍🏻
Hello man, have you tested echo dot 3rd gen? Is different sound from this echo 2nd gen?
I really loved your thorough and informative review. I actually just bought Alexa and I’m kind of at a loss over how to utilize her, so I’m watching some reviews to assure myself she was “worth it” 😂
Anyway, I love your review, your backdrop and editing style. I’m going to check out your other videos :)
Thanks, I appreciate the kind words! Glad the vid was helpful. Your Alexa will be completely worth it. We love ours. Hope you like the rest of the stuff you watched. 😁🤞🏻
I have a echo dot and it’s serves my needs perfectly. Alexa is the best and for me the dot was perfect but for anyone wanting a all in one echo device this is the way to go.
excellent review! most sensible and reasonable comments I've heard in a while!!
+Peter Powis Thanks Peter!! Glad you enjoyed it! Also appreciate the feedback! Cheers! 🤜🏻🤛🏻
Decent review, thanks! Some rambling when it came to audio preferences, overall worth the listen.
Very helpful! Going back and fourth between echo and the echo plus.
+Crazy Will Tech Show Awesome, glad it helped! Both are great devices. Only real big difference between the echo and the echo plus that I️ have seen is that the plus can function as a smart device hub. So if that’s something you need go with the plus. If it’s not, go with the echo which is cheaper and has interchangeable sleeves. Just my humble opinion. 😉
Really great, clear and easy to understand review. Thanks Jeremy.
LOL.When you said 'Alexa',my Alexa stopped playing music and responded to your question'How are you today?'
😂
Good review, I just purchased one with you help. On the blue tooth speaker connection on multi room play. I tried it on the eco 1 St. Gen and echo dots 2nd gen. The blue tooth speakers do work on multi room but it disconnects after like 10 songs then I have to reconnect the blue tooth. Happens every so often but does work. Blue connectivity sounds better than the aux connection in my opinion. Thanks for the help.
Good review and I agree the sound is great. Much better than the Google Home for sound quality although the Home wins for answering questions and giving info. I added the Google Assistant skill to my Alexa - guides on RUclips.
+mark199 Thanks Mark! Glad you liked the vid. Also thanks for the tip about the google assistant. I’ll definitely check it out. Been pretty happy with Alexa but I’m always up for testing new stuff. 👍🏻
mark199 I can’t find google assistant in skills?
Adan Villanueva See here for how to add it - ruclips.net/video/2KzbJyTQTZE/видео.html
mark199 I’m thinking to buy it but I afraid because there is someone said that he used it as a speaker via Bluetooth and he said there is delay in the sound so did you face that with yours ?
@@timethegames6084 I haven't noticed any delay when using it as a Bluetooth speaker 👍
Two Echoes for my family for Christmas ..and a mini Echo Dot for me ..Happy Xmas from England ..
Awesome Clive! Hope you enjoy the new Echos! Merry Christmas to you as well!!
Great review. Told me all I need to know. Thanks !
Awesome, thanks!!
What is the mute button for and how do you power it down?
Very good review! I loved the video I’m subscribed!
Thanks!! 👍🏻
That's was an honest review and useful
Great features and great review Jeremy!
Thanks brother!👍🏻
Very nice video indeed. Thanks. I personally enjoyed you mentioning Jimi Hendrix. This will be for my 89 year old mother who I don't know if she'll even remember to ask Alexa anything. However, I have multiple sclerosis that has terribly effected my short term memory. I love gadgets and Alexa seems like a great one. I want AMAZON to know that it was YOU who sold the product to me. Thanks man. Have a groovy day.
Thanks!! Glad you liked the video. Hope it helped. 👍🏻.
Wow, just found you on here and you have beautiful content! Very well done and I love the “soft” feel of this video. I’m going to subscribe and follow you through your journey.
Thanks brother!! Glad you dig the content! Welcome! 👍🏻
please help i have a question. how do u take an alexa off its wire/power wire. whenever i do it doesn’t work. sometimes i don’t think it’s charged and i’m confused☹️☹️☹️
The echos need to have wall power. They do not have a internal battery. You can purchase battery cases for them which would allow you to use them unplugged. I have a video on one of the options out there. There are a bunch of goods ones out there though. Here is a link to the review I did if you want to check it out. ruclips.net/video/nzXWldv2S-E/видео.html
Really good. Clear concise, minimal jargon, comprehendible. Thanks.
Question though:
We live in a fairly big and very old House (just a fact).
Can I use Echo Dot 2 downstairs paired (synch'd) over Bluetooth with Sonos speakers (downstairs)
and
Echo 2nd Gen upstairs unpaired - no speakers up yet, so Ech 2 speaker capability needed.
May link both Amazon Echo's at later date when that can be done WITHOUT wires.
THANKS AGAIN.
+WildlifeObsessed thanks glad you liked the vid!! As for your question. It’s tough to say. I have found, in general, that Bluetooth isn’t great in a house at long distance. But as long as your dot is with in a reasonable distance to your Sonos speaker there should be no problem there. The second second gen upstairs would be fine as long as you were using the one upstairs and the one downstairs independently. Like I mentioned for now the multi room music function doesn’t work when using a Bluetooth connected speaker. So if you tried to run the two echos in the same group so that they were synced and played the same music upstairs and downstairs the echo dot would disconnect from the sonos. Sorry if that was a little wordy or confusing. Hope that somewhat answered your question. If not feel free to ask a follow up question, lol. 😉
I just got a Amazon Alexa second generation echo! Had it for a month!& Think it's great!
Thank you! I just got one for $79.99 for black Friday and I'm so excited to use it!!
Angela Savage where you buy it??
Amazon Prime!
+Angela Savage Your quite welcome 😊. That is a killer deal! Enjoy your new Echo. I’m sure you’ll love it!
I'm debating whether or not to pick up a Dot as well for my son...more as a personal assistant.
Same, got it for £69.99 in the UK on black friday sale😃
Sound is great. Good balance of bass & treble. I haven’t seen any thing about it being portable I.e. it doesn’t always have to be plugged in to electricity. Is it portable.?
Nope, pretty sure it needs to stay plugged up. If you want a portable option, check into the Echo Tap. That is their portable device.
This was the best review i've seen for this device! Subscribed to your channel!
+FOTO-UNO Wow, awesome!! Glad to hear it! Thanks!
Brilliant video! Just bought one. LOVE IT!
Can i use this as a music speaker only?
Great comparison and video! look forward to more...
Thanks Everett!!
Good review man. I dig your style. Subbed
Thanks! 🤜🏻 🤛🏻
Great review! You’ve helped me out majorly with purchasing the Echo 2nd Gen rather than the 1st gen! I’ve just purchased an Echo Dot due to the Black Friday deals and will probably buy more for the multi-room function. You’ve got a new subscriber and a like to this video!
+Iain McFadyen Thanks!! Glad the video was helpful! 👍🏻 Those Black Friday and cyber Monday deals are always good to take advantage of! Don’t forget those dots are great for having Alexa all over the house but the speakers aren’t awesome for listening to music. With how small they are the speakers just aren’t real strong. You’ll prob want to hook them to an external speaker with the 3.5mm jack for the best sound quality. Just my humble opinion. 😉. Good luck with your new devices. I’m sure you’ll love them.
JeremySiers thanks for the tip regarding external speakers. I’m not worried about the sound quality from the Dots as it’ll just be telling Alexa this and that. I’ll get an Echo for the living room, like you have I think you said in the video! I’ll have a good watch at some of your other videos! Good to meet like minded folk!
Great video, really covers everything. Thanks!
+Jacob Dougherty thanks brother! Glad you liked it! 🤜🏻🤛🏻
Just got one for prime day, nice review
I just bought one today. Can't wait for it to arrive tomorrow. Also, if you can't afford to pay it all at once you can pay for it in monthly instalment.
Awesome! You'll love it. Great little device! 👍🏻
I just found your channel. I am contemplating buying the Echo Plus. You mention that you can link one Echo to other Echos in the house. First question, Say I link it to 2 other Echos. Are all 3 Echos using Data or are the 2 linked Echos simply speakers for the main Echo that you have given the directions. Second question, Do all of the Echos that are linked, have to be the same model ? IE Dot or Echo Plus. Thanks for the info. Thanks from Canada.
On you first question, I am not 100% on...but.... all the devices are capable of using data but I would assume only one would be using data at a time. Unless you are using them independently. Playing different songs on them for instance. Then each one playing a different track would have to be using its own internet connection to retrieve that information. But if you were playing one track thru the whole house on multiple devices it should just be using one connection to the internet to get the info and then sharing it amount the devices connected to one another. At least I’m pretty sure that’s how it works 😉. Hope that made sense.
On your second question, yes, you can connect different amazon devices, i.e. Echo dot, echo, echo show, etc. 👍🏻
@@JeremySiers ThankYou. The Echo Plus is sold out here in town so I am going to order one today. I can't believe the sound quality. I was at my Daughter and Son in Laws the other day and that was the first time I have heard one in person. They have a big house and the Echo sound filled the big tall room. If the first one works out I hope to put another Echo of some type to use as a speaker in my attached garage. Do you think that is feasible ? Thanks again.
Fantastic review, sensible plain and direct.
I have the Plus in the lounge, linked to the Philips Hue bulb, how did we live without this and the Dot in the bedroom. Used for Tune In Radio and to control lights. No more arguments over who should have turned the light off before jumping into bed. No more kicking toes up, when going to toilet in night. Dots speaker is better than expected, heard bad reviews but its quite good.
Echo Plus speaker is rich and produces an excellent deep sound that easily fills an average room.
Lol, agree! How did we ever get by, lol. Wonder what we will have 10years from now.
JeremySiers probably walk into the room and light/music will autoplay, because we will have some type of transmitter fob type of device. That would be cool. Thanks for the awesome reviews
Thank you I will definitely be getting one asap you vid was very helpful thanks for all the advice and the help
Your welcome!! Glad it was helpful. Hope you enjoy your new Echo!
Thanks for the info it really helps I just got a refurbish echo and it works great
Whats the best one to get
Ive got 2 2nd gen echo devices, is the multi room function to listen to music the only way they will sync and work together. Or can they use the drop and intercom functions like with the dot and and echo do?
I just bought one and it sounds great
Thank you Jeremy! A great informative review!
Good intelligent review. Not some BS.
+reefbreaksurfer Appreciate that brother!! 🤜🏻🤛🏻
I’m looking at buying a echo plus but am confused by a lot of the reviews as to whether it is better than the echo 2nd generation. Which would you recommend?
I wouldn't really say one is better than the other. They are both great. The Echo Plus is basically a larger version of the Echo with a built in hub for smart devices that require a hub like Philips Hue bulbs. It also costs a bit more. If the hub is something you need or would like to have, go with the plus. I went with the Echo because I didnt need the hub and I liked the smaller design and the interchangeable sleeves. Function wise they both basically do all the same stuff and the sound quality is very similar in my opinion. I think you would be happier with either one.
Hi Jeremy can you tell me how to set up Alexa, so I can access my prime videos to stream through my smart TV
Very good review, and I agree with the quality of sound being wonderful! Very clean and clear! Is there any way to use my 7th Gen Nano via Bluetooth to my Alexa Echo?
+Susan Reilly hey Susan, thanks, glad you liked the review! As for hooking up your nano, i am not familiar with that particular device. Buuuut if it has Bluetooth it should be able to connect with no issue. Your other option would be via 3.5mm cable if the nano has that connection.
Hi, I want to known echo dot can handle smart LED bulb directly or needed to briz hub, or any other smart LED directly work, if not then echo plus handle directly?
Love your review. Purchasing one now!
Awesome, thanks! Hope you like your new Echo!
Doesn't the 1st get have a 7 array beam forming mics too? One thing I like about the 1st gen echo and the dot is the volume knob. I don't like that they went with the push button volume controls. I don't know if that's to save on cost but something about that dial I find more satisfying than the buttons. I have had my 1st gen echo since it came out and love it. Never had any issues with it. I will buy a refurbished 1st gen before I buy this 2nd gen.
Thank you for your assessment of the Amazon Echo 2nd generation.
Your Welcome!
Excellent, informative review, very helpful! Great work man. 👍
+Garry Davies thanks brother!! 🤜🏻🤛🏻
Great review. Looking forward to getting one!
+Kurt Pfeiffer Thanks brother! Great little device!
As of right now I have 1 Bose Soundtouch 20 and was going to get others throughout the house to listen to music in other rooms outside. I was wanting to get Amazon Echo also, would I be better off just getting Amazon Echos throughout the house in the rooms that I want to listen to music to and have it hooked up to the 1 Bose Soundtouch to listen to music or have the Bose Soundtouch in the rooms that I want to listen to music and just get a Amazon Echo for downstairs and 1 for upstairs???
Thanks for any help..
clear and concise report. but I would like to know the different between the amazon and amazon plus. is one or the other sufficient as a system.
+Richard Golembiowski Thanks, glad you liked the vid! I don’t have a Echo Plus but from my research the plus basically has the same upgrades as the echo but with the addition of it being a smart device hub. So for instance you wouldn’t need a hub for things like Phillips Hue lights because the Echo plus could function as one.
THANKS FOR YOUR RESPONSE/ WHAT ABOUT AMAZON TAP
An amazon tap is a portable alexa device without interchangeable sleeves.
First one of your videos I have watched. Nice. Good video and your natural on the camera. I shall subscribe :)
Grave before shave :)
+matt boxall Thanks brother! Appreciate the kind words! Glad to have you on board! Cheers! 😄 🤜🏻🤛🏻
Thanks for the information. Nice review.
Thanks! Glad it was helpful!
Amazing review. Loved it
+Vijay Pushkin Thanks!! Glad you liked it! 😁
Great Review...LOVEEEE the Beard😁....going to subscribe now...great job!🤗
+Racquel Marshall ☺️thanks!! It’s funny, my beard seems to be a polarizing topic. People either say they love it or they say I look like the Taliban, homeless, trashy hillbilly, lol. I’ve heard them all. Glad you like it though 😊😉👍🏻
really good simple review.... helped me to decide to buy one...
+fuzzy2i Awesome! Glad to hear it helped. Thanks! 👍🏻
Great review thank you!,
