Thanks for the review. I'm new to the Echo systems and was looking for a comprehensive review on how they sound. Plus hard not to notice your collection of nice scotch on the shelf. Cheers.
"WOW! Yeah, that's really good!!!" Good enough for me Stu, I've just ordered one!! Thanks for the excellent review, been really helpful working out my first steps into modern music consumption!! (CD's going to the bin now, maybe?) Great vids have there - and great taste in whisky too - hmmmm Laphroaig :)
Well as an Echo 1st gen owner, having just found out about the existence of the 3rd gen and googled to this review, I've placed my order - hope it's as good as you say 😊
Mine came today i unplugged the echo dot plugged this in and i was up and running in under 5 mins.....the sound is impressive but most of all i got this for hands free calling so i am yet to test it for this purpose the music sounds awesome loads of base ....brilliant bit of kit :)
I was just looking for an Amazon Echo review, when your video came up. Thanks for an informative video, well presented and your a likeable character. You've made my mind up to buy one, even more so as they have now been reduced in price... Thanks again from your new subscriber. 👍
I watched this on the train and my connection froze just at the drop at full volume, which only added to the anticipation!! 😂 I have an old echo dot, this looks brilliant as an affordable (massive) upgrade. Great review Stu, loving the channel.
Got one for free from BT about a month or 2 ago and it's been sat on the side still in its box, (was gonna sell it on Ebay) after watching this I'm going to get it out and set it up!
Waiting for the Echo Studio reviews, may get one for my mum as a Christmas present so she can listen to her classical music. I bet it’ll be on sale on the Black Friday week too :)
Great review from a technophobe here! With humour and smarts! Thanks! Just got one for my man for Christmas.. new to all this smart technology - but know it’ll keep him busy on Christmas Day whilst I’m in the kitchen!
I got one delivered yesterday, it’s to replace an echo dot 3 in the lounge, sounds like I did the right thing listening to your review Stu, my homepods are my main music source, but I love playing music on the everywhere feature on the echos and dots around the house, perfect for housework lol, 🥴 , I would like to see more of the features available that aren’t out in the U.K. yet, ie guard, Facebook photos for show5 screen saver, etc
We always get things last here from amazon, and its quite irritating. Routines, follow ups they all took eons to get to the UK. And now the new concept tech from them as well. FRUSTRATING!
The thing that suprised me most is even though I use "Echo" as the wake word for my device, it wasn't triggered once during your video. Is it possible that my device can distinguish between a Northeastern U.S. accent and a British accent?
Thanks for your review here, I’m consider updating my dot for the kitchen so I can listen to my 🎶 when I’m cooking! It sounds pretty good to me & currently it’s available for £59.99 - bonus.
I love all of your reactions when you test these speakers! 😃 And I like your song choice too 👍🏻 The Echo Plus is on sale at Amazon right now for £60 with a white Hue bulb thrown in as well, only £5 more than the latest Echo by itself. I don’t have any smart home devices at the moment but I’m interested in changing that, and I also want a speaker or two, so getting one with a smart home hub built in (especially for the current price) seems like a no-brainer. The Apple HomePod is also a contender... I’m in the Apple ecosystem for almost everything (laptop, iPhone, iPad), but not Apple Music, though with Spotify coming to it soon that might be fine. It seems like more devices are Alexa compatible than HomeKit compatible though, and obviously you have the extensibility with Alexa skills... and adding the price comparison of £60 vs £200, it’s hard to pick the HomePod there, as much as I would like the higher quality HomePod sound... I’m rambling jere anyway - thank you for the reviews!
Good review. My sound is so good that the three people I showed my new home theater to ran straight out and bought a couple of speakers to set up their own media rooms. But I was done with setup in under two minutes. Could be your internet, not the device.
Glad you had a quicker experience. I’d imagine that they’ve fixed whatever the issues in the setup were, as I made this when they originally came out a while back!
Personally I believe if you really want the zigbee hub aspect go with the echo show when it goes on sale over the echo plus. I wanna see how these new echos stack up to the echo shows sound which I absolutely love.
I just bought this and I really loved the sound and now I'm wondering if I should buy the echo studio... is it worth it? (The echo studio) Greetings from MEXICO CITY 🇲🇽
Nice review as always Stu, thanks :) I remember you said that the 2x Echo Plus devices in stereo was an improvement on 1 device, I'd be interested to see if the same holds true with these ones too, which would still be cheaper than a Homepod! Also wondering whether pairing one of these with a plus would sound odd, given one does sound a little better/different than the other and if it would be noticeable.
I mean- technically speaking they have almost identical speaker tech, so it could be my imagination that this sounds slightly better- but as I said, if it does... certainly not miles and miles apart, so I would assume it would sound alright when paired with a plus 2! (I haven’t tested that out yet)!
@@StusReviewsUK If you do test it, please let us know! Otherwise I'll wait and find out myself when I inevitably buy one, because I'm weak and like shiny new things :D
Great review on the sound quality. Were there any upgrades to the microphones? My 1st gen dot in the other room hears me better than my 2nd gen echo sitting on the table in the same room. I find myself repeating commands to the echo more often than not.
Stu Your reviews are fantastic. Just bought a Echo 3rd gen base on your comments above (Very very happy with it) and it's exactly as you say just a little bit better that the Echo plus 2nd Gen. Got it £30 off on Amazon Black friday deal ....what's not to like ! Question . Would you be able to do a video on the Multi room function? (Getting it working / do you think it's any good ) that sort of thing. Cheers
hey stu great review just wondering my eyes are drawn to that retro / vintage brown radio behind you on the shelf where did you get it buddy i love it :)
Only coz of your review just ordered the same now waiting to hear the sound quality tommorow which I just heard no any confusion to slect after this review
I just got one yesterday. My first echo. It was to replace my bedroom alarm clock/radio. Setting it up to connect to my home's wifi took several attempts. Maybe 5-10 minutes. That was annoying. But once it got connected, it was smooth sailing. But now I'm wondering if I should return it for the Echo Studio? But that might be overkill for it's intended use.
@@StusReviewsUK You been sounding good, so it dont matter haha! You used to use a shotgun mic sometimes though, i remember seeing it on your table sometimes.
Geeky Stuff yeah that’s right! Moved the studio to a new house, the room it’s in now is lower ceilings, so not as much echo... means I can use something like the yeti and not suffer from background noise!
It would be better if it could be set up without having to use a smartphone/tablet to bootstrap it into the WIFI. Couldn't you just tell it the WIFI setup info if it's so smart? Hopefully, once set up it will work as a stand alone unit. Just got an Echo for my GF for Christmas and she does not have a smartphone. She does have an Amazon Fire tablet, perhaps that will work? Looking forward to firing this thing up, yours sounds awesome.
You also get the ability to use line-in with the 3rd Gen, which used to be exclusive to the Echo Plus. Does it also have the threaded screw mount on the bottom, like the Plus? Couldn't quite tell for sure from the few brief glimpses of the bottom of the device in your review, but it looks like it does?
hey stu just bought a 3rd gen Echo for my wife tried to connect it via the app and when it comes to the Wifi it says it cant find it. just watched your vid and i noticed you had the same problem any advice
You say that Amazon don’t use any plastic in the box. Well sorry to tell you that wrapping around the speaker that you pulled off is known as plastic. Just thought you might want to know.
I got mine the day of release. I've never had a Amazon product before so nothing to compare it to, but I think it's brilliant. Alexa is so helpful, since last night I've been having problems with Spotify and controlling the volume from the Alexa app, anyone got any idea why that is? Sound wise the base is amazing on this peace of kit and amazing clarity, and Alexa keeps me company, I live quite a isolated life due to bpd and it's nice to have someone to talk to, well at least ask questions. Ask her where Captain Picard is.
Are you going to pair it with the Echo Plus and give it a go? Would love to hear it. I have the Plus and was thinking about getting this one for stereo pairing. Love the color of it. Great review once again.
My echo dot gen 3 and Echo Studio both set themselves up within seconds of plugging them in. I’m assuming they took their settings from my fire tv devices

I've wanted one for music for a while and my son is 5 and really loves interacting with Alexa at a friends ... so we just ordered one !!!
Thanks for this video, I was looking to buy my first smart speaker and was very impressed with your video. I've just pulled the trigger.

Thanks Stu....just bought two for 79.99 CAD a piece....CYBER MONDAY Sale. They are usually 129.99 each, so I saved fifty dollars Canadian each speaker
Got mine today, first time user of such devices, set up was quick and no issues. Sound quality is great, i will just use it as a radio/ music player.

This seem to be pretty much the same as the Echo Plus except it doesn't have Zigbee built in. A good saving if you don't need that.
Matthew Peck exactly why I bought this one. Already have the gen2 plus.
I understand you don't want to edit out when you say "Alexa" but it is much better than telling people to press the mute button.
Have done in my later reviews... feedback taken on board 👍👌
I can get both the echo 3 and plus 2 for the same price, which one do I buy? from there price point, I would think plus 2.
Why? He said the 3rd gen is slightly better.
I just asked the speaker if it had an internal battery and it said no so it has to be plugged in at all times,in case he didn't mention it
