Over 95% of the body serotonin is made in the gut. Serotonin is for sleep and mood regulation. That's why ssris and mind-altering medications don't typically work. Because the problem isn't necessarily in the brain alone.
Most cou try have drinking cultures. If go drink how do u not kill off all the good bacteria and enflame the gut lining? I have heaps of ideas but would be good to have a protocol that docs and scientists approve of. You would think all the taxes from alcohol sales would answer this question. I dont think the government wants people healthy. Same idea for Tabasco, they make trillions probably and never invested in making a lung protective Tabacco. Really they would want customers living to 100 and smoking a pack a day and of the expensive stuff. .01% of profits to research would pay for a few 100,000 scientists to work on it lol (I'm bad at math)
While most serotonin is produced in the gut, the brain's serotonin system is distinct. The serotonin used in the brain is synthesized within the brain and doesn't cross the blood-brain barrier. This serotonin regulates mood, sleep, and other neurological functions. Gut-produced serotonin primarily influences the gut and indirectly impacts the brain through the gut-brain axis (a bidirectional communication network involving the vagus nerve, immune signaling, and microbial metabolites).

Having gut issues? Try these three things if you haven't already: 1) Cut way back on, or completely avoid, milk-based products. Lactose intolerance is extremely common, and often gets much worse as we age. 2) Eliminate wheat-based foods with heavily worked gluten - particularly breads, pastries and pasta. Thick gluten is like chewing gum in your gut. It is very hard to digest. 3) Cut back on acidic foods and beverages like wine and tomato-based products. Your gut is already acidic, and additional acid can stimulate a lot of problems. You will need to experiment to find out what works and what doesn't. Good luck!
Some natural foods that have a tremendous positive impact on gut health are Natto (Japanese formented soybeans) which is very high CFU of bacillus subtillis (which is also avaiable in spore form from a company called LiveSpo). Another amazing probiotic is L Reuteri, which best be taken in yogurt form but you can also get it in capsule form from BioGaia. And of course Kim Chi. I’ve been eating each of these 3 superfoods every day and never had a digestive problem since I started.
Because it's a vegan propaganda filled with bollocks and not a documentary. A probiotic is something that is supposed to seed the guts with good living organisms. If you need to eat it again and again, it's not probiotic, it's.... food. Kimchi like sauerkraut are simply fermented food because fermentation reduces the content of toxins and anti nutrients in plants. Like all cabbages, if not fermented or not deeply cooked,, they wreck your thyroid with goitrogens.
It took me 4 years to notice that red meat was causing me stomach issues. I stopped taking red meat (beef, sausages, smokies, pork, mutton) and my gut issues reduced by almost 80%. I also react poorly to mangoes for some reason, which was a bummer as they were my best fruits. I now only take oranges and bananas.
Buterate production seems to be the end goal of a healthy gut. Lactate, was also mentioned. If I remember correctly, a diet with no fibre or very little, can do this as well. Processed foods are the main problem. Some ppl have sensitivities to plants and do better on predominantly meat based diet, and vica versa. This doc has a more plant based bias, which is fine. On the whole it depends what inherent sensitivities u have and what environmental stressors there are to aggrevate or cause an issue. But I think it always comes limiting processed foods.
This was a very informative video!! I m whole food plant eater and 90% organic I take plant yogurt almost everyday To replenish the good guys(good microbe) If u read this comment, whether u have gut issues or not yet(with age u will) Don't overlook yogurt Plant yogurt is the best for me I v seen many changes in my body and well-being If u are vegan u do need B12 and ion supplement With corona and viruses on their way ,i added zink and D
I get gut aches when I'm particularly stressed. The only thing I can do to make it pass is lie down for a few hours or sleep on it. I actually have a pretty healthy diet with lots of veggies and keep active by running and walking. I guess my gut tells me to slow down when life becomes too much. Eating kefir and sauercraut helps.
DM always brings us high quality documentaries. If only more people could watch them, those for instance who (still) drink sodas, eat at McDonald's, KFC's and other massive diseases providers. I am shocked every time I go to supermarkets and witness people buying Coca Cola by entire buckets, i.e : 6 bottles of 1,5 lit, in 2025. There should be a law alike the one on packs of cigarettes saying this beverage will give you diabete within 2 to 3 years. I have stopped all junk food for years now.
Ancient Indian medicine testament Ayurveda gives utmost importance to Gut Health . It says if you have healthy gut and Liver then your heart , brain and kidney functions perfect. So for any chronic disease Ayurveda first works on gut and liver
@ you’re clearly not familiar with body biology are you. Antibiotics KILL good bacteria in the guts, hence causing a temporary collapse of a balanced digestive system. Doesn’t matter if the antibiotics were for respiratory or brain disease or whatnot.
Probiotics don’t work for me. Apple cider vinegar (capsule form) cured my irritable bowel syndrome by some 90%. I have switched my multi vitamins supplement to a brand that does not cause bowel movements. I also avoid dairy products and cut down on sugar and coffee. I try to improve my fibre intake by taking oats but found that I get stomach upset and don’t seem to be able to digest all that fibre. My mental health improved with my gut health.
I try to eat less food in order to prevent myself from fat. My height is 1,73 cm, and the weight is 60 kg. My parents are complaining about my appetite always. They are saying I look skinny and no energy for hard work. If I eat more my stomach becomes round and legs and hands are thin.
Happy this gets more attention! "Going Vegetarian/Vegan", or "eat more fiber" will often not help the chronically ill which is always recommended, I know. I can't eat any sort of bean (FODMAPs intolerance) or lots of fiber, I will need painkillers the whole day... :S Eating lots of fermented foods?? Forget it, I'm intolerant to histamine rich foods... :S No regular intestinal Doctor in the general hospital understand this, no health influencer understands this... when your microbiome is complete chaos, you need serious medical intervention... but it's not there.... because no Intestinal Doctor takes microbiomes serious! It angers me to no end. I suffer from this 30 years already, they keep telling me it's IBS and "just accept it"...
I can't help but question our obsession with clean and how that affects our gut. Our ancestors ate food caught in the wild and I don't think they ran to the pond to clean it if it got a little sand or grass or feathers on it. And I'm sure they didn't wash dishes with detergent. Are we missing out on healthy bacteria that would come from the detritus that we're avoiding? Not that I want to eat feathers and fur and sand but it does beg the question.
It's great to see that we are finally starting to understand health as a whole instead of addressing problems as individual and separate compartments. The food we eat, the bacteria we host, the gut we build, the emotions we have... they are all part of a big circle that functions as a unit.

Your gut is already acidic, and additional acid can stimulate a lot of problems. You will need to experiment to find out what works and what doesn't. Good luck!
Healthy gut and clean thoughts secret of my happiest life❤
Raw Kimchi and raw Sauerkraut are Gut friendly 😊
Why very high in sodium.
very important stuff
Some natural foods that have a tremendous positive impact on gut health are Natto (Japanese formented soybeans) which is very high CFU of bacillus subtillis (which is also avaiable in spore form from a company called LiveSpo). Another amazing probiotic is L Reuteri, which best be taken in yogurt form but you can also get it in capsule form from BioGaia. And of course Kim Chi. I’ve been eating each of these 3 superfoods every day and never had a digestive problem since I started.
Low Dose Naltrexone was shown to be very helpful on UC.
We are part of the nature . So more we flourish and cherish it then more we have prosperity in life and health
Ehh but this life. Sending hugs to all these people.
For me plants caused me such bad inflammation.
I can sense it😊
That is interesting people like human anatomy and biological features we need watching and understanding more like this
I became Vegan on 2016. Best decision i made ;)
Why would a German documentary mention Kimchi and not sauerkraut as a probiotic?
Because it's a vegan propaganda filled with bollocks and not a documentary. A probiotic is something that is supposed to seed the guts with good living organisms. If you need to eat it again and again, it's not probiotic, it's.... food.
Kimchi like sauerkraut are simply fermented food because fermentation reduces the content of toxins and anti nutrients in plants. Like all cabbages, if not fermented or not deeply cooked,, they wreck your thyroid with goitrogens.
I don't know. Apparently, Kimchi has more flavour? Though, I don't feel obliged to mention things of my country, just what I want to mention.
Possibly because of whoever does the voiceover ...
Love your work 🩷 Can you look into a wonderful documentary on shilajit / Ayurveda?
( Since it connects to this subject as well through minerals )
Don't forget propionate.
@norwegianzound will need to look that up, but thx..
thanks God I am in Pakistan and I can sit anywhere when I am in need

I get gut aches when I'm particularly stressed. The only thing I can do to make it pass is lie down for a few hours or sleep on it. I actually have a pretty healthy diet with lots of veggies and keep active by running and walking. I guess my gut tells me to slow down when life becomes too much. Eating kefir and sauercraut helps.
Considering...FASTING..
Moslem always fasting during the month of Ramadhan..
Greetings from Jakarta, Indonesia
❤❤❤
During fasting you do not have to eat even at nights or dawn . You have to drink water and try some fruits that are fleshy .
Has anyone has study about the Mind ❤ it's everything ❤ practice Loving Kindness... Do good deeds 🙏
Fermented is great but fresh greens grown with probiotic soil improvers is best for gut health.
we know all that now is thanks to youtube bloggers and health coaches NOT to mainstream doctors and pharma corporates
Missed opportunity to have Will Bulsiewics on here. Give him a look up. The king of fiber!
Nice thank you
I’m currently on antibiotics for a serious bacterial respiratory infection, and I miss my happy guts 😢
I think gut refers to the digestive system not the respiratory system.
@ you’re clearly not familiar with body biology are you. Antibiotics KILL good bacteria in the guts, hence causing a temporary collapse of a balanced digestive system. Doesn’t matter if the antibiotics were for respiratory or brain disease or whatnot.
@@yaash4123Yes you are right but if you take antibiotics it will ruin your gut microbiome 😢
@@yaash4123 Take antibiotics and you can get serious diarrhea. Not a happy gut.
You may have mycoplasma infection, that's different from the gut bacteria.
Keto Diet is the way to go
I always go with my GUT FEELING.
Where's she now?! I also studied computer science. And also sport lover. I love to run and specially hiking. I like her. I would like to marry her. ❤
you would have removed the background sound. difficult to follow two voices/languages at the same time.
Dr. Coimbra from Brazil solved this issue with high dose Vitamin D3.
Take plant yogurt
I try to eat less food in order to prevent myself from fat. My height is 1,73 cm, and the weight is 60 kg. My parents are complaining about my appetite always. They are saying I look skinny and no energy for hard work. If I eat more my stomach becomes round and legs and hands are thin.
Just avoid food with seed oils.
Paleomedicina in Hungary understands this better than this documentary 🤔

The best way to take care of your Guts stay away from sugars, cut down sodium, carbs and processed foods.
Oh cool you included a bit of overwerk music, me like!
Being vegan saved my life
Me too, whole food and plant yogurt
Now we know why the term "Gut feeling".
